Hi ! Thank u for the video. I have a question so if my currently enrolled courses got conflict with another bc I chose a wrong time. But I cannot changes the time. So do I need to drop this course and then add it again? Today is July 5th and I guess I can drop this course without showing on my transcript. Thank u !

Thanks for this video, it was very helpful. I was wondering how the credit system works at u of t (does 5 courses equate to 2.5 credits and is the number of credits required to graduate 20?), and if you complete more courses does that give you the option of graduating earlier?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello Vivienne, I hope you are doing well! Thank you for supporting my channel, make sure you subscribe for more content :) 1 full-year course = 1 FCE (Full Course Equivalent = credits) 1 semester course = 0.5 FCE 5 semester courses = 2.5 FCE and every uoft student needs to complete 20 FCEs to graduate. That's also why most students choose to take a full course load (5 FCEs per academic year ie. 2.5 FCE per semester) if they plan on finishing their degree in 4 years. feel free to check my latest video regarding maximum course load limit (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8k5WvrKVfbw.html) and yes, you can definitely graduate sooner by taking summer courses and a maximum course load during the year. I encourage you to speak with the academic advisor in case you have any questions regarding early graduation, good luck! cheers, kim

Hello again! Another question here. In regards to scheduling practicals and tutorials for courses such as chem or bio, do you have any recommendations? For ex. would it be advisable to have tutorials the day after the lecture or even right after it? Thanks for the help.
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
hey! it doesn't matter imo, bc all tutorial/practical sections will have the same activities/format and the only difference is the TA who's in charge of the section. so, it comes down to luck whether if you get a nice TA or not lol. Also, prof will def go over relevant materials in lecture before your tut/pra. fyi, most first year lifesci tut/ pra start 1-2 weeks after the 1st week of semester (not sure if that will change under current circumstances). cheers, kim!

Hi thx for all the helpful info!! I have a question abt the start time, so if u can’t login into acorn on that day, does that mean at 12:00am exact?? So for example if my enrolment day is the 23rd, I will not be able to log into acorn starting12:00am on the 23rd? Thank u so much!!

Hello Tina, I hope you are doing well! Thank you for supporting my channel, make sure you subscribe for more content and watch other videos that are available on my channel! eg. your enrolment starts at 10 AM (EDT) on the 23rd. From my experience, you will be put into a waiting room/page if you login before 10AM on that day. I recommend you to finalize your enrolment cart a day before your start date to avoid unnecessary accidents. Hope this help, good luck! cheers, kim

What would I do if I initially got accepted into life sciences, but i want to swap to social sciences/rotman commerce? Would I still be required to take the life science or can I select select courses for the things I want to go into and swap from Life Sci to Social Sci/Commerce?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
hello zhenyi! If you are a student under the faculty of arts & sciences, just take whatever social science courses you need for your intended POSt in first year (check enrollment requirements for the POSt you are applying). You can declare any social science POSts you want, as long as you have the prerequisites! For RC, please read this for more info rotmancommerce.utoronto.ca/future-students/transfer-students-and-other-applicants/ I encourage you to consult your college registrar/ academic advisor if you are planning to make such changes as you will be receiving academic advising from a professional and advisors will show you the proper procedure! Good luck, kim

What MATH do you recommend taking in the first year? I haven’t decided whether MATH135 and MATH136, or MATH137.
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello Juan, I hope you are doing well! MAT137 is proof focused (full year course) and MAT135/MAT136 is computation focused (semester course). I took mat135 in first year bc that's all i need for my POSt. feel free to watch this vid (ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-e8Iw1PrS0L8.html) in case you are wondering what courses I took in first year!

Hello Abdul, I hope you are doing well. Thank you for supporting my channel, make sure you subscribe for more content and watch other uoft-related videos that are available on my channel! You are enrolling in all of your courses for the Fall-Winter Session, uoft doesn't have a separate enrolment date for the winter session. Can you clarify which "activities" you're talking about? I'm not sure what you are referring to. cheers, kim

@@kimm-ing2666 Thanks for replying. Forget the activities I just misunderstood something you said. Another question if I may ask: Do I need a minimum of 20 FCE to graduate? and each year I should earn 5 FCE?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
student under the faculty of Arts & Science at UTSG need to complete 20 FCE in order to graduate. Students wish to graduate in 4 years will take 5 FCE per academic year. Details regarding degree requirement, please read fas.calendar.utoronto.ca/hbahbsc-requirements (Bachelor of Arts and Science) or fas.calendar.utoronto.ca/bcom-requirements (Bachelor of Commerce). please watch ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-I-W-GPdSBfY.html if you need help with course selection, good luck!

Do I have to manually add myself into the waitlist? Or does the system automatically does it for me if the course is full?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello Alice, I hope you are doing well! If a course is full, you have to MANUALLY add yourself to the waitlist on ACORN when your start time begins. The system will not automatically perform actions such as "enrol" or "waitlist" on courses from your enrolmet cart unless you do it yourself. hope this helps, lmk if you are still confused! cheers, kim

@kimm-ing2666

Hello 00 breadstacks! When you enroll in courses on ACORN, you will see tutorial/practical sections under the lecture section on the popup screen (will look like 2:32 of the video).

Would you be able to see the prof teaching that course when selecting?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 3 года назад
Yes! when you select a course on acorn, usually you will see who teaches the course under "instructor". however, keep in mind that some courses might not have decided on the instructor by the time you start enrolling into courses and thus the name of the instructor is not visible on acorn. hope this helps!

Hi! I was wondering where you find your enrollment period? Is it sent out in an email? And also, when making backup plans, should you make a whole other schedule or just other times that would work for specific classes ? Thank you so much.
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hi Kaileigh, I hope you are doing well! if you are admitted to the Faculty of Arts & Sciences at UTSG, please refer to this for more details regarding "enrollment period": www.artsci.utoronto.ca/current/academics/course-enrolment the purpose of backup plans is to allow you to have an idea which section/course you should join if your primary option is gone. Doing this will save you time in case things don't go as planned. Hence, it is totally up to you! Do what works for you, whether that's making a new plan or modify your current schedule. cheers, kim

hello CHE RUTH, i hope you are well! Are you a student under the faculty of Arts and Science at UofT St. George campus? If you are, i believe the process of program enrollment have started. I highly encourage you to book an appointment with the academic advisor, it seems that you might be benefit from an appointment with the advisor because they have all your academic info on file. Just curious.. how is GGR107 or PSY100 in your opinion?
@kimm-ing2666
@kimm-ing2666 4 года назад
Hello donghun, I hope you are doing well! I took both courses awhile ago, so i'm not sure if the syllabus has changed or not. GGR107 (with dr. sarah wakefield) is pretty doable and you are at an advantage if you are good at writing essays. However, there are lots of readings to do for this course, 2-3 readings (each paper ~10-20 pages long) were assigned weekly. If you google "ggr107 course syllabus", you will find old syllabus online and use it as a rough reference to determine if this course fits your interest. As for PSY100, it's pure memorization so if you are in lifesci you shouldn't worry too much about difficulty of this course! If you are taking psy100 with dr. denton, make sure you attend lectures bc a few midterm questions were based on examples she talked about in lecture. we had readings every week, and online weekly quizzes were based on the readings. Again, feel free to look at syllabus from last semester online! Good luck, kim
