It's here...our annual Maine deer camp! Every year, the fourth week of Maine's deer season, we head to camp for a week silence, solitude and deer hunting. We wait all year for this. The week started of slow with tough, bare ground conditions. However the snow arrived on Wednesday and we got into som big bucks. Join us for a great time in the deer woods where all of life's burdens seem to disappear. Enjoy!

I also miss my dad. The third week of deer season we took off together with my son and sister and two brothers. My dad has been gone now since 2007 😢 My Daughter & Son and brothers we all still hunt together every year but it isn’t the same without my dad. He was like a kid in a toy store he would get so excited and keep everybody’s spirts up on the crazy days. You are very lucky to still have each other. Best of luck. We all hunt with a Marlin 45-70 rifles hand loaded with 350grain Hornady bullets. We have shot a lot of nice deer.

Enjoy the father son interaction as much as the hunting part. You are both fortunate to have that opportunity to hunt together. Makes me miss my dad when I watch these.

Thanks! It’s very easy to take for granted. I’m becoming more and more aware of that.

yes don't take it for granted, i always wanted to hunt alone in my teens and twenties....what i didn't know then was my father wouldn't age well and he had to stop hunting at 55 when i was only 30....can't rewind the clock unfortunately

Now that's what I call hunting! Hunting for me is all about the experiences gained.. memories made.. stories shared.. especially with loved ones! Harvesting a deer is just a bonus! Just spent four days with my brother.. that time can never be taken away!!! He harvested his buck back in October.. so he's been helping me out as were closing in on the last week of the season. Rifle season is always two weeks long and starts the Saturday after Thanksgiving here in Pennsylvania! Thanks for sharing your hunt with us ❤️

@@MaineOutdoorEnthusiast thanks brother.. I've been so close to bagging a decent buck.. but it has come down to the wind and some other minor things that chalk up another learning experience for myself and I'm no spring chicken :)

What a hunt. Truly special getting the time in the woods together. My dad is pushing 80 this year and we still get after the deer together in ohio. Terrific editing in my opinion👍

Nice Job Mark and you also Paul filming your Dad on a big buck track. I love the never give up attitude. I’m in Maine now and at the end of today found a big buck track in a 2 year old cut. So guess where I’ll be tomorrow. I enjoy these videos so much!

Great video, you certainly did an outstanding job capturing this deer season. Coming back to a cabin like that after a long days hunt looks like something from a Field & Stream magazine. Thanks for the great video and sharing your Maine hunting season with us. Regards Mark

Still one of the best times of the year, getting out and about in November, even when we don't get the results we aim for. I still have an image from last year stuck in my brain of a misfire and the big guy bounding off into the brush. This year I got to apply for my big buck patch, though. Good times no matter the results.

Great video Paul. I enjoy watching you and your dad hunting together. When you were standing there listening to the buck exhale, I was saying through the computer screen grunt, grunt, lol. Not sure if it would have gotten a reaction, but a buck on a hot doe might not take to kind to another buck getting so close. Good luck with the rest of your season, looking forward to the next video.

Thanks Matt! Glad you enjoyed it! It’s funny you say that…we did grunt and periodically as we were tracking. I probably shouldn’t have cut that out of the video😂. It may have helped someone new to the sport get a better understanding of what’s going on. I’ll remember that going forward 👍. Thanks for watching!

I believe that the Big Woods hunter in Maine has a better chance to succeed by keeping mobile as opposed to a stand sitter. I know that you cannot walk up on a mature buck that is aware of your presence. But, what you can do is walk into situations that are naturally occurring. And often times the still hunter will cross paths with a deer who is not aware of the slow-moving hunter. Keep up the good work guys!

Great video! Just an FYI if you didn't realize it as I didn't initially and I have the same cap. From their site: HOW DOES THE EARBAND WORK? You might not need instructions to wear your Stormy Kromer masterpiece, but there is a right way and a wrong way. The right way involves putting the cap on your head, grabbing the earband on both sides and pulling down. There’s no unfolding or flipping of the flaps, and you don’t have to take the hat off to use them. Just pull down and settle in. They’ll stay in place without pinching.
