That sound effect scream is called the "Wilhelm Scream" and it is a bit of an inside joke among movie makers to use this scream in their movies. It's been in moves as far back as the 50's, but after the sound designer from Star Wars used it in several films, it became common to use it. Altogether, it's been used in over 400 movies and tv shows. And now that you know that, you'll hear it everywhere.
@colettebezio1913
@colettebezio1913 2 года назад
Yes, Ben Burtt, the sound designer from Star Wars, said in an interview that he heard that scream in a western when he was a kid, from a character named Wilhelm who took an arrow to the throat. It impressed him, and he used it as a sort of signature in all the movies he worked on. Of course, once he had said that, curious people identified the scream he was talking about, and now it gets added as a joke (or homage) to all sorts of movies.

I think it amy also have been a reference to The Plateu in The Lost World by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Just look up an image, it's exactly the same 😄 As far as I know, from research and hearing from the creators of the film adaptation (1920s) it is based on a real place (the lost world plateu is). I always forget what it was called, but Salto Angel doesn't sound familiar, it must have been different. But yeah, it's a crazy beautiful looking formation.

If you are doing animated movies, you have GOT to do some of the Studio Ghibli movies, especially the ones by writer / director Hayao Miyazaki. The originals are in Japanese, but John Lasseter worshiped Miyazaki and arranged to dub several of them into English, with major actors like Christian Bale, Patrick Stewart and Uma Therman. Four of my favorites -- Howl's Moving Castle, My Neighbor Totoro, Castle in the Sky, and Spirited Away. There's also a really hard-to-watch movie called "Grave of the Fireflies" that tells the story of a family in the firebombing of Kobe, Japan in WWII

My parents went through infertility problems when having me. They tried to have a child for six years until they finally found out that my dad had Klinefelter Syndrome, so he's infertile. Obviously that was very upsetting for them but luckily they managed to have me in the end by using artifical contraception, a fertility method. My mom also has diabetes so she was very ill when she had me and we both almost died. I feel very sad for the people who can't have children but people should definetly know that it doesn't have to be the end. There are many other ways to get children, they're just not as obvious and easy. So try to stay positive and don't loose hope. That's what advice I'd give anyway.

Idk why but I did some rough math, and he would have needed 18.2 million balloons to carry his house if it's 2k square feet. If the balloons ,hypothetical of course, were weather resistant and the helium was good quality then that's like 2-5 days or more of travel time. Although if he relied on wind and curtains to steer him idk how fast he would go (probs 30 mph ?) which from Utah to Mt Roraima is like 4k miles which means it would have realistically taken him a few months (possibly around 115 days). Idk if it's even right but I know that shit would take forever and isn't a tangible project. Edit: just saw that national geographic did a project on it (on a smaller scale) so I guess it could happen, but it would still take forever to travel that distance.
@wwoods66
@wwoods66 2 года назад
Also, sails _on_ the house would do nothing, since the whole house is just drifting with the local wind. And houses aren't designed to be lifted up from one point, so ... _rip._

I am so sorry you and your wife had to go through that, but I am very happy to know she pulled through. It is easy to see just how much they mean to you, and how much you love them. It shows through so clearly. Your wife and kids are lucky to have someone like you in their life and in their corner. My Mother is a very small woman, (4'10.5") I have an older sister, but both pregnancies were very hard on her, because of her size. Both of us had to be caesarian section births, and she was told she couldn't have any more because she, most likely, would now survive having a third caesarian, there was way too much scar tissue. And I know that my birth was difficult, as I take after my Father, being a stocky Irish farmboy build. But both of my parents are amazing people, and gave my sister, and I everything we needed to grow to be good people. I just am trying to be one. To end on a slightly happier note, my favorite joke about this movie. "The first 7 minutes of this movie is STILL a better love story than the entire Twilight series."

Pete Docter, the director have comfirmed that Muntz is 92 years old and he was 23 at the start of the movie, while Carl was 9 so Muntz is 14 years older than him. In an earlier version of the film, the eggs from Kevin's species could give you eteral youth (to give a reason for Kevin to be special other than being an undiscovered bird) so when Carl met Muntz, he looks the same as he did 69 year earlier.

You should watch Dug Days on DIsney+ which is a sequel series to Up, mostly centers around Dug and his antics. It's set after the events of Up, Carl sells The Spirit of Adventures airship and uses the money to buy a cozy house in the suburbs and moves in with Dug. In the series Carl isn't as grumpy as he was during the most of Up and while he gets slightly annoyed by certain things that Dug does he doesn't really get angry like he did before. Russel also make an apperance in one of the last (if not THE last, haven't watched it for almost a year so I have forgotten) episode, still voiced by Jordan Nagai but his lines are from unused scenes as Nagai is in his 20s now (plus isn't doing any acting anymore, which is a shame). Alpha and the other dogs don't appear in the first season so they either were sold, moved into a kennel or being adopted (probably by the old folks at Shady Oaks). Dug's mate doesn't make an apperance either so it might happen in season 2.

There are so many great animated movies, but for me the pinnacle of animated movies are "Up" and "Wall-E." I usually will put "Up" at the top if I am pressed, just because I think Wall-E's third act is not as good as the rest of it. That being said, the first act of Wall-E is probably my favorite animation ever. The first 10 minutes of "Up" are among the most powerful animated sequences ever, and what makes the movie so great for me is how the rest of the movie pays off on everything set up in those first 10 minutes. It's not just, 'here are 10 powerful minutes followed by 90 minutes of semi-related silliness or action.' Everything that follows those first 10 minutes is tied deeply back to those ten minutes. The entire movie is satisfying because of the attention paid to make every detail pay off the set up. Several animated movies I recommend to people (and I know you have already seen a lot of these): Classic Disney-- Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, Sleeping Beauty, Dumbo, Bambi, and The Fox and the Hound. Bakshi's classic "The Secret of NIMH." Ghibli studio's "My Neighbor Totoro." I also recommend "Shrek," "How to Train Your Dragon," "Kung Fu Panda," and "Zootopia." Two classics that I don't see people reacting to are Disney's "Fantasia," and, for adults only, "Heavy Metal." They are very different from the others and worth watching.

This was a REAL tear-jerker movie for me. I mean, it was really heartwarming and fun and funny and adventurous an all. But it was... like... bitter-sweet, you know? The first 15-20 minutes had me crying like CRAZY!!! It broke my heart when Ellie passed away and the "alone" time of Carl in their house...

What makes this movie hit harder now is knowing the man, the legend behind the voice of Carl Fredricksen, Ed Asner has since past away.

Finally. I was waiting for this movie. This has got to be the best Pixar movie ever made in my opinion. There are so many great references to Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World, which adds some more icing to the cake. Such a meaningful and heartbreaking movie. I just love it.

This is one of my favorite movies of all-time! "Adventure is out there!" was my high school yearbook quote. :P After you've reacted to all of the Disney and Pixar movies, I'd love to see a video where you discuss which ones were your favorites and why.

THE GUY FROM CHEERS is in every pixar movie. His name is John Ratzenberger and he is literally in every pixar film. It's a running gag and awesome. Also another great reaction, man! This is one of my favorite movies and was the theme of our wedding.

Fabulous reaction!! Crying along with you there XD Some perhaps lesser known animated films (but still great!) you might be interested in: Sing (2016), Balto (1995), Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron (2002), Watership Down (original 1978)!

That skeptical "we'll see..." is pretty big talk for a guy who cries at every Pixar film! Trust me, the audience knows what they're talking about on this one!

I know someone whose daughter had fertility issues and resorted to IVF to have kids with her husband. It took them years and tons of money and work to have just one kid. It's so sad, but I think they finally have the child they've always wanted. I don't know their daughter, but they said it took a serious mental toll on her because she wanted a child so badly and, while pregnancy should have been "easy" for her, it just wasn't. I'm glad she's a mother now and she's living her dream of motherhood.

The sad thing is that it's not that they can't have kids, it's that she lost their baby, she had a miscarriage. They were already preparing the nursery, expecting their child so she already was pregnant. :(

The story does not end there in real life.: I live 3 blocks away from where the house that inspired the movie was. Sadly the real owner died but she had someone promise to keep the house standing. They found tons of new paper and photos of her hanging out with famous people for decades. The guy that promised to keep the house standing eventually broke the promise and the house was torn down. Now there is a memorial plaque where the house once stood. To this day people are always bringing balloons to place around the memorial plaque. Then a bunch of local "karens" complained so the issue went to court. The court voted to allow people to continue placing balloons around the house.

This movie always makes me bawl my eyes out...even your reaction has had me bawling my eyes out!! I knew your reaction to this would be amazing. I can't have kids so my heart always breaks watching Karl and Ellie realising they won't have the family they dreamed of. I'm so happy you and Jane have your two girls, so sorry to hear about the difficulties you've had.
