To our Maligator Mom I know what you are feeling and going through. The word Cancer brings out so many feelings, emotions and concerns. I am a spinal stage 4 cancer patient in remission. I to have a high maintenance 140LB GSD. keep the faith find a quiet place and plead your case to the Lord 🙏 I will keep you and the Maligator family in my prayers.

so sorry for what you are going thru! My sister had breast cancer at 53 ( 17 years ago). Two lymph nodes were removed as well. She has not had any problems since. I pray you have a swift recovery. Remember how we act when life throws us “a curve ball” is more closely watched by others than when everything is going along perfectly.

Prayers for negative biopsy!! Great topic, just went through this. Emergency appendectomy and I'm currently living with and caring for my 83yo parents. My boy is a mal in a gsd body and I panicked. Thank God was able to get get my brother in at the last minute to take care of him. Take care and feel better!

Prayers for a successful surgery and a good report from the biopsy. And yes, you are trainer ... but such a good hobby to have. Just wanted to send you prayers and positive thoughts.

Planning for everything with multiple pets is critical. I have a handful of people outside my family who I would consider reliable for pet sitting. We have 4 cats 4 dogs 3 ball pythons and a Guinea pig. They got minimal care when I had COVID, but everybody but my GSD is low key. When my dad died a week later we hit a crisis. All of my backup were unavailable for various legit reasons. I boarded the dogs, the cats were loaded with food and water and the snakes and the pig went with me. As you said - over $1000 to board 4 dogs for a week, granted everybody but the GSD got a bath and the collie had vet care. After that learning experience I’m working on an executable emergency plan. There are so many reasons to need one. Thank you for sharing your situation. You and your family are in our prayers. My mom had breast cancer when I was in college or shortly after. They were able to radiate it away… into remission… I don’t remember exactly how they described it. She was miserable for months. Catching it early is crucial and it sounds like that’s what you’ve done. Those of us who have had it or had relatives/friends who did stand with you as you face this. ❤️

I'm so sorry Kay. I don't have that, but I have other health issues and I know how much it sucks to lose your health in some manner. Especially when on the outside everything looks A-Okay, but on the inside there's an inner struggle. Listen to your doctors, but you might want to consider a double mastectomy to prevent any scares. They have incredible Reconstructionist to do breast reconstruction. Something to consider. My love to you and your family. I'm with respect to dogs, I love Malinois and have owned them,, but this is why I prefer a medium Drive working line German Shepherd because I have own health issues at a young age,, I can only do so much work with the dogs and need a good dog with an off switch. The Malinois can be taught, but they are definitely much more hyper and neurotic about work than working shepherds are. This is just some food for thought for people that want to working dog but need one with a good off switch due to health or life circumstances

Thank you for sharing your story. Sorry for the loss of your mother and the bad experience with your biopsy. I had a biopsy 3 days ago and my results were also atypical hyperplasia. I don’t think people understand how scary this diagnosis is. I think its great that you used your channel as an outlet and a way to educate others about what this feels like emotionally. Great advice!! I had a severe leg injury in January and was super lucky to have a great boarding facility that could take my dog & continue training him *and* financially able to afford it. I recommend having a document or will with your wishes for your pets!!

I am a Thyroid Cancer Survivor. I feel your anxiety and have lived that. I have 2 Belgian Groenendael and 1 Belgian Mal. Your video is spot on. There has to be a plan. But you also need someone to talk to to help share your anxiety. I was in the heat of my Herding Career with my Groenendael and my husband was critically injured in a motorcycle accident. I had no plan for the dogs either. We were in the hospital 4 months, but I came home to the dogs every evening. But please Kay’s message is spot on. Have a plan. Write it down, make it known to family. Kay, as a side note please have them ultrasound your thyroid. In my family thyroid cancer and breast Cancer go hand in hand. You are a strong woman, a mom, and a Mal mom. If you need someone to talk to, I am a good listener.

Hi I have been watching your channel for a while now I am really sorry to hear about your troubles but please don't be down about it its 2022 and there is a lot can be done I have very close friends that have been through the same and are now very happy healthy beautiful young women please be strong things will get better 😊 I love your dogs all 3 are beautiful my boy is absolutely crackers but he's not just my dog he's my best friend the bond you make with a malinois is truly unbreakable if you get time have a quick look at him he's 14 months old and beautiful 😍 ❤

You are so brave to share your story. I have walked (am walking) the breast cancer journey, currently in remission. I had chemo for a year, two surgeries, one recurrence, 35 radiation treatments. Please know, medicine/treatments have advanced tremendously since your mom's cancer. When I was diagnosed with cancer I had a six year old rescue german shepherd who was my heart and soul - she had been grossly abused and was not an easy dog to handle. I bonded with her in a way only other dog lovers can understand. Like you I was faced with a huge situation where I could turn for her care. This topic you cover is SO IMPORTANT. As you stated perfectly, few of us plan for a time when we might be out of commission for a while - thank you for bringing this to everyone's attention, especially for those of us with high drive dogs that require careful handling. I pray your biopsy will be clear, BUT, if it is not, I want to encourage you to take one day at a time, let people help and support you, you are strong, you WILL get thru it. Thank you for sharing something so personal. But the topic is a real one, in that its good to have a back up plan. In getting my mal this last year, it was a concern of mine when discussing this with the family, at 65 yrs old would I out live my dog. I love the breed, had one many years ago, and knowing that this just might be my last dog ever and the amount of work to train, excercise and keep busy, I still choose another one. In the year that I have had her, my daughter has since reveal to me that in the event I should pass she wasnt sure she would want to keep my dog. So it is important to have a back up plan. The topic you have disccussed here today I appreciate knowing I am not the only who feels this same concern. Since my daughters reveal, I have discussed and found that both my trainers would be willing to take my Tasha into their homes in the event something should happen to me. One is an agility/rally trainer the other is in scent work, and I have been working with both, since Tasha was about 3 months old. Both I feel would provide a good loving home and the care she would need. So I do follow you and enjoy, and appreciate and have learned alot from your videos. I want to sent my prayers of good will and improved health so that you can get back to the life you so enrichly enjoy. Put you first. Sincerely
