Hello there! Sorry to hear your situation. Here are some diagnostic questions: 1) Is your fuel pump turning off after you shut the car off? If so, it's probably not the fuel pump relay switch, but another issue. If the fuel pump remains on after you shut the car off, I would recommend making sure you installed the new relay properly. Then run the relay test using the test wires and instructions provided with the relay from Vertical Visions. Contact Vertical Visions for a replacement if the test fails. 2) Have you had your alternator tested? A bad alternator will not charge your battery, even if the batter is new. 3) Have you checked for other possible battery drain issues common with this vehicle. I hope you find the issue. Hello there! The new relay should have no effect on your gas milage. Question: You mentioned that you were told to replace the whole gas (tank), did anyone touch your gas tank or gas lines? Look under the car for any leaks. Also, have you started using the flex fuel 85/15 ethanol blend? It's usually 30+ cents cheaper a gallon, but it will definitely make your gas mileage go down. @@bmike633 , I have a 2014 but no such problem yet. I wonder tho if this is the same "fuel pump relay" issue, would the "cheaper" solution work first (the plug-in wiring bypass) before trying this device which looks like a little "fancier" version of it. The wire bypass I think someone said was being sold online for ~$15 seems to do what this "$50" device does but Idk if this device has any circuity underneath the plastic casing on the bottom or not. IF I were experiencing this issue and couldn't fix it myself, I might try the "$15 wire bypass" first to see corrects it. I might actually do what someone else did and disassemble the TIPM and simply replace the bad relay with a proper replacement. It's not the easy "plug & play" & it would require careful disassembly/reassembly and soldering but it'd be done right. To me it didn't look that bad, just making sure to be careful with everything and taking photos/drawing diagrams of fuse/relay layout... Definitely better than paying a "shop" or "stealership" a $1000 "for a 'new' TIPM"... Frankly, if this is just about a "relay", it might seem a bit "rigged" but I wondered why people haven't tried to just use a standard relay "kit" to wire into this circuit and see if that fixes it just as you have several other relays in the fuse box already. I'm not an EE-tech but a relay is basically an "electromagnetic switch", by use of a signal voltage, it allows current to flow or stops it... I had a broken relay on my old car so I opened it and it just had an "electromagnetic solenoid" inside, so when voltage was applied, the "magnet" activated closing the circuit so current could flow and turn on the fog lights, once the signal voltage was deactivated, the "magnet" disengaged and the circuit opened, shutting off the lights. I assume it's the same function here. What is APPEARS that people are doing with these "bypasses/fixes" is just wiring the fuel pump circuit into another circuit that has a functioning relay so that when the ignition is keyed on, the fuel pump receives power and just the opposite when the key is turned off so mimicing a "properly functioning fuel pump relay circuit"...

My guess would be that it will still work. However my suggestion would be to contact the folks at VerticalVisions.com and ask them. As the engineer who designed it, they could quickly tell you the answer to be safe. You may be able to call them, but definately email them using the link on their website. It could be, I would suggest that you listen back by the gas tank when the engine is off and see if you hear a humming sound. If you do, the fuel pump relay switch is definitely the problem. Check out my other video that describes this on my RU-vid channel. If it is not humming, you may have either a bad alternator, or another electrical drain from somewhere else. That would be the ignition. I've had to replace it and get the relay bypass kit for mine but the shutting off while driving is the ignition, what happens is its loose so it goes back into the acc and shuts the van down. 2012 and up is not covered for the recall so I ordered it offline had it installed then called a locksmith to program me a new key fob.

Yes, you do not need any cables or wires. Just plug the new relay bypass unit into the existing fuse slots as shown in the video. It couldn't be any easier, and its been several months now and its still working great, best money I every spent on a repair, no dead batteries in the morning...yeah!!!

Hello there! The bad relay may be the problem, along with a bad battery. If fixing those two problems don't work, I found one other solution online... here it is... "While checking the wires in the harness of the driver door in the area where the harnes flexes when the door is opened and closed I found one broken wire. The wire was a white with gray stripe. I reconnected the broken wire and turned the key to on. All my issues were gone. no wiper movement while switch off, no headlights flashing with switch off, all locks worked, remote mirrors worked, gas gage worked, all warning lights no longer lit." Hello there! If you do not hear the fuel pump running after you shut the car off, then you may have battery drain from something else on the car. It could be as simple as glove box light, or from an AC end capacitor. Have you had the battery tested? Batteries go bad, and they may just not hold a charge any longer. Search the web for other 'parasitic' battery drain problems for other possible issues you could check. But I would start checking with the simple stuff first. I know it's a pain problem to have, I hope you find it and get it solved so you can rest easy again. Thanks for watching and commenting!

This is for a no crank no start situation that has been caused by a completely dead battery that has been drained by the fuel pump not shutting off due to a faulty fuel pump relay switch. Thanks for watching and commenting.

Sorry, It doesn't sound like you are having the same issue if the battery is not dead. Some simple things to do: 1) This model is known to have a sticky sensor in the gear shifter. When in park, wiggle the gear shifter to the left and right, then try to start. 2) Resolve any engine light codes. 3) Check your starter, it may be going bad. 4) The ignition switch could be going bad. Hope you get it figured out.

Hello there! Pulling the fuse as shown in the first video will only stop the fuel pump from running temporarily. If the battery is dead, you will still have to charge it. You will need to install the new relay as shown in the second video to permanently fix the problem. Have you installed the new relay from Vertical Visions as shown in the second video? If it is installed properly it should work. You should no longer hear the fuel pump running when the engine is off. If after the fix with the fuel pump no longer running anymore with the engine off, then you may have parasitic battery drain from something else in the electrical system of the car. Check your Fuse box, if it looks the same, go for it, VW Routan is Dodge Caravan with VW amblem :)

If it does, would you know which relay to replace? I like the idea of the hack but I need to know more about it before I create more problems for myself(car) in the future.

As I previously commented, I have had NO issues with the new relay or any other electrical issues with the car since installing 18+ months ago. If the alternator is not giving out voltage than it may be a bad alternator, even if its new. Have you had the alternator tested?
