(Update) PS5 Error CE-108255-1 and CE-108262-9 : My Huge PS5 Fail!

This is a follow-up video to New PS5 Error CE-108255-1.

This error happened at launch for a lot of Sony PlayStation 5's. CE-108255-1 causes the application or game that you are playing to crash. Your game will remain frozen for 5 seconds until you are brought to a report message window.
After some research, it looks like this may be a hardware problem. This may be an issue with the CPU or GPU. Watch the video to find out more.
A few things you should not do when getting this error code.
1. Do not rebuild the PS5 database. This is may fully brick your console. I would not do this until you are sure Sony says it is ok
2. Report this issue to Sony either directly to PlayStation customer service, or through AskPlaystation on Twitter. Direct message them to tell them what happened.

Definitely agree with you. I think they limit console releases. Cause they know many people will want money back or an exchange.

Preorders were crazy. I had to get a pre-order from gamestop and paid for a huge bungle, just for it not to work. But what makes it worse is that Sony won't say what's going on. Lol I've been with Sony consoles for 25 years. Never missed a launch day console.

@@snelgrove22 Yea thy should. I can let software issues go, I understand that no matter what, we are the beta testers when you buy a new console. But if this is hardware related, then that is unacceptable if its a widespread hardware issue.

Yeah man I’m getting the code as well with almost everything. I had to constantly call the support number in order to get into a queue. You have to keep on calling and calling until you get in. Best to try later in the day. I stood my ground as they tried to get me to wait or send it in for a repair, I told them that my ps5 isn’t working and you can’t give me a date or confirmation when or if this problem will be fixed, I don’t want this console to be repaired, I want a replacement. Finally they agreed to send me a box for a replacement. I plan on having the box incase we find out a patch will not work. Hopefully a patch fixes this. Regardless there are so many people in our situation look it up on Twitter and Reddit. It’s just so unprofessional of Sony to handle this situation like this. Leaving loyal customers with no reinsurance or information. Not even acknowledgment.

I got a hold of them. I told her that I have a lot of comments about this between 2 videos that i posted. She admitted its widespread. In fact shes the one that used that word. She also said that they are quickly trying to find out what caused this issue. Meaning, they dont know what is causing the issues, which makes me even more worried that its the hardware.

RIP, sorry for your loss man. I'm expecting to get my PS5 in the next day or so. It would be a real bummer to go through all this trouble to get a PS5 only to have it brick or artifact like this.

IMO - It sounds like a software issue of the GPU. The wrong drivers could be causing havoc? Could the game software update be locking out code needed to be updated for the system update(CE-108262-9)? Like the files are already in use and can't be changed?

I hope it's not a hardware issue. I already rebuilt database through safe mode and installed the software update. The other night Demon's Souls got a CE error after about 2 hours. I had a hard freeze the night before with Spider-Man: Miles Morales and I had freeze last Friday.

Remember when sony cared during the ps3 era. I remember my system over heated they sent me a box for free shipping. Returned and got a brand new system.

Times have changed. Its a pandemic and they will try their hardest for people not to send it in until they know what the issue is. Hopefully it can be patched, but My console is pretty much done.

@@Not2NerdyENT That's exactly what happened when my 6 month old ps3 was bricked from that 3.01 update, yes we all know that one. I contacted Sony about it and they said that I shouldn't have downloaded the update, therefore I would have to pay £130 for them to fix it. Not only that but when I asked about a warranty on the work done, they said that it's a month and if it breaks after that I'll have to pay again like WTF it's 6 months old. This is why I have major trust issues with Sony.

Hi, I'm new to your videos, but I have the same problem, mine was fine until I put a battlefield disc in for the very first time, a day later it crashed with same error codes as yours, and over a day or two it got so bad that I couldn't get past the lobby before it froze, I have done practically everything to mine, deleted all the games, re-installed them, and also everything in the safe mode menu, now it won't even start with the controller unless its through the safe mode button on the console, but sure its out of warranty also!

@rio rahmad - it’s quite obvious that if you have a bricked PS5 , you won’t get improved performance through a patch. Perhaps it’s not obvious , seems like it would be though.

Found someone on Reddit with the same particle on screen issue. His screen wasn’t freezing tho. It’s most likely a gpu issue but he says it doesn’t happen during games only on the Home Screen

Thanks for the update! In addition to the CE error/games crashing, I was also dealing with this weird artifact issue - basically, the games are still running, but the screen turns black. I tried every suggestion Sony offered, including testing on different TVs/monitors and reinstalling the OS via USB. Issue still persisted, and I’m convinced it’s GPU related. I have all the sympathy in the world for customer service agents ... but man, it was like pulling teeth convincing them to send a box so I can ship it in. They were basically arguing with me to have me reset to factory settings while I had them on the phone, and this was after I told them repeatedly that I had already taken these steps. Anyway, my suggestion would be to call them after 5 PM (EST) - I had the best luck around this time. I would also recommend outlining every single step you’ve taken to troubleshoot the issue. Best of luck to you all!

Yea I will definitely try my best to hand it back in. But who knows how long it will take to get it back. And if they are not admitting there's a problem, then who's to say the consoles we get back won't have issues too. But I appreciate you updating with your story. Sorry you have to go through it too. I'm having the same issue I can't play PS4 games and the only PS5 game I can play is Astro. It keeps crashing between staring up games and staring the system with error codes CE-108255-1 and CE-108262-9

Unfortunately it's different batches sent out to different countries. Doesn't seem tied to any batch or manufacturer dates.

Sorry to hear about your problems bud. Fingers crossed that the next one works grand. This is unfortunately the cost of early adoption these days. Ever since the RROD on the 360 I've waited a year before joining next gen. Have to say a big thank you to people like you who take the risk and are essentially beta testers for next gen. @@SheepAmongG.O.A.T Saw that some people were having issues loading in discs and others had games only half installed or downloaded on the XSX. If what I've seen online can be believed it seems like a lot of people are having more issues with the PS5. People being afraid to use certain features is a bad look tbh. Not saying it's widespread but hoping it isn't the PlayStation version of the RROD. I'm also not saying that both consoles have serious problems. But there is a testing phase with any new piece of hardware. I just don't want to be the one to test it. I plan on getting the XSX next year and then a PS5 further down the line if I like their future exclusives.

I've gotten CE-108262-9 randomly the last few days of playing. When I say randomly, I mean one time I tried to view trophies for a game and it kept loading until the error popped up. And i get the CE-108262-9 every time I try to upload a gameplay video to youtube, I hit upload and the error message pops up but the video still ends up in my Uploads section on the mini bar after I close the error screen. I also cannot change the title of the video I try to upload or else the CE-108262-9 pops up. But I can play all my games (Astros, MM, Demon's Souls, Tsushima, MHW, Dauntless so far). I got the 255-1 error code for the first time yesterday that crashed my Dauntless game but it was the only time that has happened.

I’ve had my PS5 since launch day on the 19th (UK) have played miles morales with absolutely no issues at all. I also purchased Call of duty Cold War which has been the opposite, first of when I purchased it of the ps store I had problems downloading it. I kept getting a error code. Then once I finally got it to download and install it was fine till the game had an update yesterday ! Now i play one game in multiplayer and it just crashes and I get an error code ! What's weird is it always lets me play one game in multiplayer absolutely fine doesn’t matter what type of game it is once that’s finished and back in the lobby it just crashes !

Call of Duty is the most unstable game with this error. If you look at my latest video, did you try those steps? Sony just posted the error on their website. Maybe this will fix it for you.

So I’ve deleted call of duty completely and all of the saved game files and reinstalled it and so far fingers crossed I’ve not had any issues at all. Everything seems to be running as it should be. Oh and I did change my language in system settings to match call of duty’s as well.

Well said! I'm experiencing errors where I can't play any games as they crash after launching. You would expect Sony to perform better QA on their products. Feel like their team tested against narrow samples of devices and called it a day.

The issue with QA, you only test what you have. If a Company releases a day one install, You were never able to test that during QA for too long.

Hey man, just subscribed. Had my ps5 on release and suffering hard from CE-108255-1 error. Really debating returning it because I can't play any ps5 games at all on my system but plays ps4 games fine. I have godfall and assassins creed and both crap out within 15 seconds everytime with that error code. Idk what to do

Thanks for the sub. And sorry to hear that. Where did you get the console from? I got this PS5 from GameStop online. I called them and they are sending me a new one to exchange. The new one may do the same thing, but its worth a shot. If you can exchange it, try it. Stores will get more consoles next week for Black Friday. You may be able to get one held for an exchange.

I know this video is new but its it a hardware or software issue because I'm able to play everything expect warzone and fifa 22 including games with ray tracing and games that support 120fps but it makes a loud noise when it crashes so I'm really confused

I feel like the batches for the US are half-assed. I just collected mine earlier today and Ive installed 5 games so far and no one reported any crashes or consoles getting bricked far. The packaging do not come with a sleeve but the box is very thick and feels more premium.

I’m having the same error code as you whenever I try to play the new Spider-Man. I can play PS4 games without a problem though. Do you think the problem with my PlayStation is hardware?

I honestly cant confirm it. It still could be a patch, but I would keep an eye on it. If you see it getting worse where you cant even log onto your console with out it crashing, then it may be a bigger issue.

Also having issues. Did a reinstall with the usb drive yesterday like you did as well, and my console crashed while downloading Miles Morales. Going to call today and see what they say.

I bought the PS5 on first day of release and have gotten no problems, yet recently I started getting that error code on crunchyroll only. I can play EVERY GAME without any problem but the crunchyroll app crashes me every 15 mins or so

I get the CE error code on every PS5 game I've tried except Demon's Souls, totally random. Most PS4 games I've tried have worked except Days Gone and PS4 version of AC Valhalla. I've basically given up for now after trying all the self fix options, and reinstalling the OS from USB. Nothing. It just sucks, I love PlayStation, and have had all the consoles and a PC. I just need something from them, some kind of statement, something. Best buy won't take it back, and I don't want to just return it yet in case it is a simple patch fix. I just feel stuck and frustrated and honestly kind of betrayed by a company I have been invested in for 15+ years. All I need is some kind of official recognition with the assurance that they are aware and will take care of their customers.

PlayStation is still figuring out what is causing the issue as of last night calling Support. So they didn't even move onto the stage on how to fix it. With that said, I already contacted GameStop online and they are exchanging it. I'm going to test out the one they send me. Fortunately they will have more stock in a few days in preparation for Black Friday. So I will get it as soon as its in the warehouse. We will see if the next one acts the same. But i wont be shocked if it does the same thing.

You are totally right. I live in the UK. First insult is that the peripherals came 1 week earlier than the actual console itself. Then on 19th I got my PS5. During setup it crashed. I reset the factory settings. Loaded up Spiderman Miles Morales, then crashed at loadup page. Tried repair in safe mode several times. Disc drive made load noises. Reloaded Spiderman. Always crashed at " Sony Entertainment Presents" screen. Ps5 then turns off. I then couldn't even turn it on to get the disc out. Amazon had no clue and offered a refund only as they no spare stock. I told them I would contact Sony UK tech support listed on Sony's website, who I found had switched off their landline number because of the influx of calls with hardware issues. Called up Customer Support and waited 2 hours. Finally got to speak to someone eventually and they asked me to post the ps5 back to a fulfillment centre in Holland. The Sony engineer won't be able to look at my console until after Christmas. They rushed it out. Shameful.

I really hope you get a working one soon. I will continue to update if I hear anything new. So far someone on this channel stated that Tech support stated that their should be a patch before Wednesday. I can't confirm this. Once I get a confirmation I will let people know in a video.

Had the same error and couldn't play ps4 nor ps5 games on it..I got pissed and called Sony and I told them I wanted them to exchange it and now I t s on the way to the repair center.

Mine is doing the exact same - both errors and now strange flashes/pixels across the screen on games before they crash. Waiting on a replacement system. Has to be hardware.

happened to me but with the ps4, have you tried initializing it? cause when i initialized my ps4 it stopped acting crazy, i do not want my ps5 to act this way, hope this helped.

Yes i tried a factory reset. I also reinstalled the entire P5 System Software. Didn't work unfortunately.

I agree with you, that's a GPU issue. My xbox 360 and ps3 did that right before they stop working. I also believe the liquid metal they used could be the culprit.

Hey everyone. Yes, I've been having issues as well. Blows my mind how little this is being spoken on here on RU-vid but it's nice to have some sort of outlet. So thank you Not2NerdyENT! My experience is pretty much the same. Got my console LAST NIGHT, dang thing is brand new and it never worked properly not even for a little bit. The issues I'm facing is Astro's Playroom either crashing or I'm getting the CE-108255-1 error. The other game I'm having issues with is Miles Morales. That one doesn't error out on me, it just flat out crashes. I'll get a green screen and this high pitched whistle before the system ultimately shuts down. Before that I got the other issues such as ps4 update files not downloading properly and ps4 cloud saves refusing to show on screen for download. The longest I was able to play a PS5 game was about 10 minutes. It was Spider-Man Miles Morales. Got as far as the first fight scene before I got the green screen and whistle. I've since turned to Ask Playstation on Twitter who suggested I seek help their online support. Online Support suggest I call (but support never answers). It's just been a huge roller coaster. I finally got through to support and awaiting a call back now. I'll be sure to share what I've been told. Stay tuned guys.

Yup. I am caught in the middle too. Live chat doesn't help and phone support wont answer. I had the issues you had, you can see in my last video. But then it got worse when I showed this video. Its a shame, because I can tell there are a lot of working consoles and it seems to run great. But this seems more like a QA issue. Definitely seems more and more like a hardware issue instead of software. By the way, some people are waiting for boxes to be sent to them so they can fix their console. So I think Sony knows something that they are not telling people.

@@Not2NerdyENT Well I just got off the phone with Sony. Though the rep was VERY nice, she didn't help me at all. I informed her I troubleshooted every possible option and explained what I was dealing with. Her suggestion was 'power cycling'. That was the one thing I didn't try. So this means I'm to unplug the power cable from the system, wait two minutes then re-attach while plugging the cord into a different outlet. I asked if this helped anyone and she said some. Well it didn't help me because Astro's Playroom still produced that code. Ultimately she said they are looking into that code. I was asked to keep troubleshooting those safe mode options. I asked if it would make more sense to just send it back but she said since they don't know much about that code, to just hold the console and check for updates that may possibly fix the issue. I informed her of your video and how your system appeared to a have bricked but nothing was really said about that. Seemed to just gloss over it. I also mentioned that the code isn't my only issue, I'm having issues of games crashing (stopping abruptly and shutting my console down). I asked if that code is linked to this but she didn't seem to know. In a nutshell I was asked to wait. That's it, just wait. Total BS and so, so frustrating.

Honestly a part of me would say that you should be good since a lot of consoles are working with no issues. But then the other part of me knows how it feels to pay 500 for something that is sitting there doing nothing. So I guess you can wait and see what Sony officially says.

So I had this happen to me on Sunday. Spider-Man MM froze during my first hour play through and shut off my console, when I turned on the system it gave me the rebuilding database screen following with the ce-108262-9 message. Decided not to play Spider-Man since that is the only game at the moment giving me this problem. I’ve played Astro, sack boy & apex legends with no issues. Monday I decided to try it again since I saw Spider-Man received an update, I figured this might be the fix. I played almost for 4 hours and I didn’t have any problems. So then on Tuesday the ps5 received a new update. I played after work for almost 3 hours but unfortunately it happened again, the game froze and turned off my console. When I turned it on it gave me the same rebuilding database screen and ce-108262-9 error again. I’m hoping on my end it’s a software issue and a simple patch can fix this, I know how tedious it is to contact Sony and wait for them to send a box for you to ship it to them for them to fix, such a hassle. So I’m hoping not to go down that route but if it continues or they don’t say a word about this I might just have too.

Still having issues here too, big issues. Decided yesterday to reset my console back to factory settings. On the restart after it was done, I was faced with corrupted database and it wanted another restart, did that, and corrupted database error again, so another restart. 3rd time it finally booted and I went through the setting up of the console. Since my installed game (AC Valhalla) was wiped I just installed the Amazon Prime Video app which gives me the CE-108255-1 error as well. So downloaded it, went to run it, and maybe after 10 seconds of it just starting up, boom CE-108255-1 once more. Corrupted database errors incline me to think of the SSD at fault, not seeing weird video errors, but who knows what the hell is going on. Apart from playing Astro which does work and using the Disney video app which unlike the Amazon Prime Video app does work the thing is next to useless. I am digital edition owner, and there is no way I am purchasing other games till these issues are resolved. Bought from Amazon AU, so I guess I will have to lodge a warranty claim, all I can find sofar is a refund thing, don't want that so have to find out how to lodge a warranty claim and get it fixed or replaced. Replacement might see me in the same boat again, so that is a concern as well. Really need to find out wtf is causing it all before can take action.

I thought about the ssd, but the read/write speeds are really fast. When you reinstalled everything, you noticed how fast that was right? Usually the read/write speeds slow down before failing. But who knows it could be that. Thanks for commenting.

@@Not2NerdyENT Yah, who knows, it is just plain weird how some stuff runs ok, Astro runs fine for me, Bugsnax seems ok for the little bit I ran that. But I have had the unit turned off for a couple of days and when turning it back and seeing corrupted database error. Today I thought, hey install a PS4 game, so went with Shadow of War. Part of the collection while on PS Plus. Installed it, ran it, and during the long ass cinematic intro i pressed the skip button as he proceeds up the snowy mountain. Cinematics had been running a few minutes by then, so it looked promising. On hitting the skip button, crashes to CE-108255-1. /sigh Why do some apps/games run ok, and others do not........ it got me. If something was faulty on a hardware level, why do some games/apps run fine, and other stuff do not. Disney app for streaming vids/movies , no problem, Amazon Prime Video, cannot get it to run, crashes at various points, got to the interface , hit a show to play, then crash, can also crash 15 seconds after running it and not even get to the interface AC Valhalla, start game, enter the doors, crash, rerun, get a bit further, rerun and then a bit more, but cannot get past the dialogue with Varin. it could be that the software is making certain demands of the PS5 it just can't cope with it I guess and has no choice but to crash. But then, why not all PS5's? I am stumped

@@Zarthaz1 The reason why I leaned more towards hardware is because it gets progressively worse for most people with this issue. So at first they were able to play with minor issues. But then is slowly turns to more games, and even the console shutting off and database being restore. That to me seems more like something in the hardware may have issues. I'm waiting on a new PS5, hopefully the Next one works. even if it only works for some games.

@@Not2NerdyENT fair enough, mine has been exhibiting the same behaviour, the crashing games/apps are crashing as bad now as straight away from the word get go after having got the console a week ago ehe, i need to check out the warranty procedure for Amazon and getting it replaced (multiple times if need be lol) and not just returning it for a refund as that is the only option that pops up for me. Looks like I will have to call them up and find out about replacement and not refund.

Your right about there support, I was in a que today for over 4 hrs then cut me off, I installed 2 games cod/ Spider-Man after install open the games to play after 8 seconds they crash with error code 108255-1, tried full reinstall via usb still the same.

Yea its hard to reach anyone. By the way, a viewer suggested something to get in touch with Sony. Next time when you call the support number, instead of selecting support for PS5, select VR support. Once you are in that Queue the message system asks you if you prefer them to call you back. Select that option and they will call you back. Once they pick up. Tell them you want to be transferred to PS5. They put you in the actually queue to talk to someone. I was able to talk to someone in 10 mins or so.

As for me - had grand total of 2 crashes with CE-108262-9 since 21st of November - both times in home screen (once after BL3, once after FF7 remake). No artifacting, R/W speeds are fast af so I don't suspect SSD failure either

Same issue when playing sims ps4 version on my ps5. Crashed the first day I played with error code about an hour into gameplay. I started the game back up and it was fine. Two days later same thing happened again about 2 hours into gameplay. Played crash bandicoot just fine. Haven’t tried any other games. 😢 Sony just said they are aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

Yes it's the GPU... you did a clean install of the system software that would negate that problem. PC graphics cards react the same way if there is a defect or hardware issue... you get artifacts on the screen and that's a sure indication of a bad graphics card.

I had this happen to me, Trying to quit demons souls. Had to go into safe mode and the only option I had is option 7. I haven't had any GPU issues you show. Assassins creed wont load after tutorial area. Really want to find out if hardware or software.

I've just started to get this error for the first time last Thursday and it happened half a dozen times. I called Sony yesterday and their music whilst waiting to get through to them sounds like porn music from a 80s porn movie. It made me chuckle. I spoke to Sony yesterday and the guy I spoke to said I need to go through a series of checks with you. I said I've already done all of them you're speaking to an IT Engineer btw. Oh... okay sir right can you tell me what you have done. I explained whilst waiting for 25 minutes to get through to them I went through rebuild database, run the game Error CE-108255-1 so I reset the PS5, still CE-108255-1 but the last one seamed to be stable but I said it is what I would call an intermittent error. In other words it could happen at any time without warning. You could play a game four hours and hour and then CE-108255-1. I told Sony I've rolled out games as the cause because it isn't just tied to one game. So I'm rolling a game as the cause so the only 2 other variables are... Software Hardware Software as the consoles OS could be causing this but again plausible but an unlikely candidate that leaves us with hardware and that could end up being a costly replacement program for Sony because the number of people getting CE-108255-1 is growing. The guy I spoke to at Sony yesterday said Engineers have pinpointed the cause but they don't have a fix time or a time scale to when this will be fixed. If it happens again I have to email Sony on the email they sent me and they will arrange for a fix and repair. He said you would be without a console for up to 15 days I said that's okay I have an XBX SX as well. Oh I forgot... I asked Sony when I reset the console and installed the latest firmware to a USB thumb drive, why does option 2 still download and update the firmware? I said the system should detect that the latest firmware is installed it doesn't make sense unless your downloading a different version but the build is the same but it isn't. If it happens again then it's off to Sony. And I bet I got to foot the bill to send this back to Sony. That's going to be costly because I want signatory recorded delivery. So I know when it has arrived at Sony as it has to be signed for. I'm probably looking at about £17 with insurance because it's an expensive parcel.

Mines has been crashing on and off since I got it at launch I’m in Scotland my Cold War has been doing the exact same thing until today there was a software update I thn played some zombies it froze I was expecting the error message but instead I got this horrible frightening rasping and beeping noise the only thing I could do was shut the power off I’m terrified to try to play it.

So my launch PS5 has been pretty much flawless, plays all my PS4 games fine and nearly every PS5 game just fine. The exception is with only two games, the first one is the RE8 demo, I can start it up get to the menu screen, but as soon as the game starts 3 seconds later I'm hit with the CE-108225-01 error, every single time. Tried every possible solution, rebuilt the database, factory reset all with help from Sony customer service, who finally told me, " Sony is aware of the issue hang tight and within a couple of months will release an update/patch". This wasn't such a big deal for me because besides the demo at the time, everything else was perfect. Fast forward to just yesterday with the launch of Returnal, there was already some big PS5 firmware updates since my last call. Popped in the disc and started playing about 8-10 mins in crash and the dreaded CE-108225-01 damnit! All these crashes are just game crashes and not system crashes. Anyway I restarted the game about 10 times, and in each time the game crashed 8-10 minutes in. Through alot of searching online it does seem a few people are suffering from this problem, the two guesses I keep seeing alluded to this error is either a faulty GPU and/or a faulty onboard SSD. Besides this the system plays other PS5 games just fine, so its perplexing, I would've called up Sony customer support asap but unfortunately they only operate Mon-Fri , so first thing on Monday, hope I won't have to wait too long for a replacement. *TL;DR* : Have issue with CE-108225-01 with only two games, might be faulty GPU and/or SSD, needs replacing.

What make a GPU issue worse for Sony is that the "expensive" SSD is also soldered to the directly to the motherboard. So its not like they can unscrew the SSD to use in a new motherboard when you console is repaired. (Unless Sony has a way to desolder and resolder the flash memory and SSD controller in a cost-effective way.)

Any decent repair shop can solder new BGA SSD chips and a new GPU onto the board. They all have machines to do that now. No problem for Sony but expect they will just replace the entire console, much easier for them. They wont care about some failed console, once they have you in the Sony ecosystem it doesn't matter if they have to repalce a console for you.

I got a question if ya can help, I got my PS5 UK 19th November, had same issue with log on screen glitches, found that if I log on str8 away I get into the UI, all works OK so far, only game I have not installed in COD, I have disk version though, now my other issue is, on RU-vid, on some videos, I have little green pixels, that are dotted, they appear and dissappear, but on some other RU-vid videos its absolutely fine, like on this video yours is fine. However, there is a growing rumor that now Sony may have a fix for these errors on the PS5 and they are going to release it before Wednesday. I dont think so. If you get the error message you will get it either way. I would enjoy playing it until you cant anymore. But maybe you will be ok. I would avoid rest mode for now though, just in case.

Sorry to hear you are having troubles man, my PS5 has been perfect as has my fathers and about 10 friends of mine. Seems most of them are running perfectly. Looks to me you have a faulty gpu or no cooling on the gpu. Theres 7 million of them sold it seems to be no more than a couple hundred with problems

I don't know what the percent of machines is that are having a problem but at some point I'll ask the local shop who sold 150 of them how many had a problem. I doubt of those 150 it's more than 2 if any at all

I get the Error CE-108262-9 as well. I dont get the artifacts though. Mine crashes as soon as I try to Log in. Its a constant crash. I have system reset the PS5 about 4 times and ive gotten in to play a game at least once maybe twice with all of my troubleshooting. After I play the game a while, I shut it down to see if the console will stay stable and it crashes every time it hits the home screen. I dont know what to do at this point except call Sony. Sounds like ill "try" to call them anyway. Good video man, I am at my wits end.

I just this error twice so for. It's happened when I've played ps5 disc games. I rebooted the system and haven't received the error yet so far (2 days since reboot). But demon souls froze on me at the load screen so that's cool.

So I just got a new console this morning after my first one was doing this same error code while launching Call of Duty (108255-1). Believe it or not, the second one I got, after installing the game IS DOING THE SAME THING! I really don't know what to do at this point... Is it maybe a problem with my CD? Should I try a new copy of Call Of Duty. By the way, I am playing NBA 2K21 with zero bug... so I can't identify what the real problem is...

I learned my lesson with the ps3. When I first got mine I played it for 2 months and it over heated. I sent it back and got another one. Within a few weeks it over heated. Then I was sent another one and it worked thankfully. At that moment I realized that buying one on release day is not a wise idea. IMO I think they send out a certain amount and see what happens. Pretty much you are a beta tester and you just have to roll the dice. But after they get the info back on the number of issues they regroup and come up with a better plan. But unfortunately some have to pay the price for those that wanting bragging rights that means you. I will wait til not only the bugs are worked out. Things like error codes, overheating, better console design, more games, external memory, price reduction and the list goes on. For me that's the smart move. But for those who got one I wish you luck.

I am getting error code CE-108255-1 with ANY PS4 disc-based game or a downloaded PS4 game from PS Now. Oddly enough, I can stream PS4 games just fine. I tried restoring my licenses but that did not work. Spiderman: Miles Morales works fine, although it seemingly re-installed itself after not recognizing the game even though I had already played it. Astro Bot crashed one time but has been fine ever since. I will try to get through to their support line today. The dude I chatted with yesterday pretty much said that they are aware of this issue and "are working on it."

I just found out the problem. It has to do With the account you use to log in into the PlayStation. I had a second psn account when I switched to it warzone works fine. When I switch back to the old account the game crashes again with the ce-108255-1 error

Remember that PS5 at this moment is not world wide premiere. Imagine scale of problem when you can buy PS5 in Europe and rest of world. This will make covid 19 irrelevant.

Im hoping its just a batch of consoles that they can isolate. But the fact that my console got worse and I literally have not had it on for too long since I cant play games, tell me its a hardware issue. But maybe not everyone else who gets that message is having hardware issues too. We will see.

@@Not2NerdyENT with all rumors about Sony struggling with soc manufacturing/hitting expected performance targets it makes you thing if there is some truth in it. Their SSD is brand new custom design and problems are to be expected. Hope they sort it out asap.

Nope even here in Europe people have crash errors. Got mine today and after 1hr in Miles Morales game crashes.. then AC Valhalla too and Demon's Souls.. well .. hope for a patch soon.

Ok so what does it mean when all my games work perfectly fine except demon souls, when I start demon souls I gets stuck on the screen when it ask if I want to put subtitles on then while it’s stuck I can hear the whole opening in the background from start to finish plz help me out

Sounds like you are having an issue as well. Did you try to switch all games into Performance mode?

@@Not2NerdyENT yeah all games work fine in performance mode, demon souls is the only game thts freeze then crash soon as I start it up but then sometime it goes to the setting screen on demon souls n soon as I press x after it ask for subtitles it does what I said in my first comment

I’ve got the error code but only with black ops Cold War? But I’ve found a work around for mine where you turn off internet connection load the game up then connect back to the internet

A lot of people have done that with different success rates. Some people said it works for a few hours then it crashes. Hopefully a fix will happen.

@@Not2NerdyENT I have also found that if I access the game via the card at the bottom of the games and press square on the card that says resume gameplay it will bypass the crash

Looks like GPU issue to me as well, all heavy users playing too many GPU consuming games are causing these. I am currently only playing Astro playroom and kept my system on rest mode than after seeing all these issues decided to shutdown completely after every use since it boots very fast either way. Its all good for now.

Lol it crashed for me playing Astro's Playroom. In the comments for my last video, someone said the first thing they did when they got the console was play netflix. And it crashed also. lol so not good.

Amazon Prime Video gets me the CE-108255-1 error, at various stages, from a few seconds into loading the app to seeing the menus displayed and anywhere in between, not even gotten the stage where i can get a video to play. Crashes out before i can do that

Same here. Had a Cold War crash, but it didn't shut down the system. Also had an issue with rebuilding my external after the console shutdown during RU-vid video playback, which doesn't sound like a hardware issue to me. Games have been playing fine except that one COD crash.

No solution. One of my Consoles I sent back in to replace with GameStop. The other will probably have to go to Sony for repairs. They pushed a new firmware update today and it didnt fix it. From what I see, it didnt help too many people.

Hi guys, I had Error CE-108255-1 when trying to play Astro's. The console was brand new and was already failing. I could fix it by resetting the PS5 from an external USB drive (Safe mode 7). I am not sure if this will work for everyone, but it is worth giving a shot.

I bought a ps5 disk version. It worked fine for 10 days and then I updated the system software and from that day all my ps5 games started to crash except wwe 2k22 and all ps4 games work fine. I have fifa 22 ps5 version on disk which crashed and a ps4 digital on the same console which works fine where I played for almost 2 hours without any crash.

Yup...demon souls it took 6+ attempts for it to stay on ps5 storage and now I'm trying to put valhalla on it but it keeps erasing after ejecting disc....error code ??? ce-106865-4 (I think it was) keeps coming before downloading starts

Also Valhalla still erases with update file completely download...and I do have the ps5 update file too...also I did try putting Valhalla in rest mode to download but maybe 30mins later ps5 made weird noise a d shutoff only when ps5 is on will it download but still erases

There's mixed answer from Sony. Some people from PlayStation support says a patch is in the works, while other ones say to send in the console. There's still no answers on how to officially fix this. I will post an updated video tomorrow.

I still do not know. I'm leaning more towards a Hardware issue on my console since it got worse. It only makes it to the log on screen and shuts off then turns back on and repeats. I see people start out where the game just crashes, but then it gets worse to the point where I am at. So its tough to say, but I think it may be hardware. Sony still doesn't know. Their support says they are trying to figure it out. Thats not good.

@@malekith8447 Its up to you. No guarantee that the next one will be better. You have a better chance that it will be ok. But its up to you. I contacted Gamestop, and they are exchanging the console for me since they are getting more in stock before Black Friday. But I have to see if the next one will be the same. Who knows at this point.

After seeing some comments from people seeing errors on one account and not on another account I made a second user on my PS5. No difference, fired up Amazon Prime Video app and CE-108255-1 , could not test AC:Valhalla as that got wiped yesterday on the console reset, and I see no point in redownloading it if the Amazon Prime Video app still crashes

@@Zarthaz1 I’ve tried Netflix and Disney+ and they work fine. I need to test Amazon Prime. Every game I’ve tried works well too except Miles Morales for PS5. The PS4 version works.
