Updated: Panasonic Lumix Tether Software (v2.3) 

Dear Richard, Been following your videos for a long time, probably, from when I started showing interest in buying a Lumix S5 for my wife. I might have watched all your videos regarding the Lumix S series and I love your unbiased views. This one about the Lumix Tether was truly an eye opening experience! I was connecting our camera to my Mac book Pro for the first time and just came to realise the amazing possibilities it can provide! I think all of a sudden I'm in love with my camera. Thank you so much!!

Thanks for showing off this new app, I had no idea this was even updated. I tested the multi-cam feature and it works fantastic with the S1,GH5S, GH52. Works so much better with great additional features and it's pretty easy to navigate.

Thanks for the great video. Would you know if it works the same over Ethernet (BGH1) and if it’s possible to record to the PC through that connection?

Hi Richard, thanks so much for doing this overview! Extremely helpful. With S5 specifically, if you're controlling it via Tether, can you also see a clean video signal out of the camera via HDMI at the same time?

Im looking at buying three S52Xs & love your Tether video! If I choose record to PC+Memory card with All Intra 800mbps to the computer is there a way to choose a much lower rate file for the sd card? Or is it a default setting I have no control over? If so, what is that default? I'd love to choose the lowest file size just to have reference audio off theSD card to sync with my Zoom F6 audio track. Thanks!

On my 4K XPS15 the Lumix Tether app is so tiny that I can't even read the text. And there is no way to resize it. Luckily, I was able to set up the camera to connect to my network and automatically upload photos to a folder on my desktop, which is pretty neat.

Hi Richard thanks a lot for your work. Your description is always very precise, it's very helpful for me (and.... us). I'm buying in 2019 the S1R. I am trying now to work with the Lumix Tether but the video is like as "frozen" and unstable. I have made all the firmware updates as you explain. Have you perhaps an idea ? I need this orange cable (for tether) usb - usb c. I need an old workstation Dell (7 year) for my work with CAD software and 2 displays. Thanks for your help.

Thanks Richard - great video. What I'd like to be able to do is have the Lumix Tether software open whilst running zoom or OBS. I have 2 cameras running into the Lumix software, but can only switch cameras using the Tether software. But I can't have that open AND have OBS or Zoom open. I want to be able to switch cameras whilst Zoom or OBS is open. Any ideas?

I've got Tether working, but the GH5 does not show up as a webcam. How is it I can get the feed but no webcam?

Hi Richard, thank you for this video. Here's my situation: I want to trigger start/stop recording for multiple cameras but the red record button is greyed out because it says that the cameras need to have an SD card inserted. My question is, is there a way to trigger start/stop recording for all cameras without needing an SD card in them? See I'm using Ninja V's for all of them and I'd rather record to them instead of SD cards because the ssd's are higher capacity storage for less than the equivalent SD card. Also, I don't understand why Lumix Tether still requires an SD card in the cameras in order to trigger start/stop recording even if I select PC only for the recordings. Thanks for your help!

hello Richard, bravo for your video, I have a question to ask you. When I take photos I don't have the photo that appears on the screen sometimes yes sometimes no. I don't know where we activate so that when we do a photo it always appears on the computer screen , merci !

Can you use multiple cameras in OBS? I'm trying it now and it doesn't seem to work at all as a webcam once you plug in multiple cameras.

Does this not work using a type c to type c on Desktop. Maybe i am doing something wrong. It works when I use a USB A to type C on my GH6 but not when I use a Type C to Type C

Hey Richard :) Im having an urgent issue with the Lumix Webcam Software. It was perfectly working until yesterday. I had a perfectly working system with the GH5 connected to my M1 mac (currently Sonoma 14.1) , and suddenly the Lumix Webcam Software disappeared from all the apps (I can't use it as a webcam since the device is not recognized, it doesn't appear on zoom, google meet, obs, etc). Tried reinstalling the Lumix Tether software, connecting, disconnecting the camera, etc. Nothing works. I think it started happening since I updated to the latest MacOS. Do you know how to troubleshoot it?

Such a useful tool, honestly. But it doesn't work with GF10, GX9, G90, G100, LX100 II (all released after the G9). Not what I'd call "pretty much any new camera", haha.

I couldn't make it work on M1 Mac for my G9.

For me the tether app does not start when connecting camera to pc. In fact when I installed the tether program and after that and restarting the pc I wanted to execute the application when executing it did not load the application but ask me wether I want to delete all the assets and uninstall the program. How do I get it running? :(

will it work on GH4? has anyone done this test?
