How to fit an Enfield Precision stainless free flowing silencer to my Royal Enfield Hunter 350.
A bit of a change of theme for this video which runs through the fitting of the new silencer, available from Hitchcocks Motorcycles, to my Hunter. Continuing with the mods and upgrades to the Hunter, Paul and I have fitted the silencer. Whilst I am still in the process of running in my Hunter, Paul's bike is fully run in and he has also installed a DNA air filter. Having made these mods he advises a perceivable power increase. Please check out this video where we're out on a ride following the installations.

The exhaust note, does seem deeper and there is a slight difference in loudness whether the baffles are in or out. Aesthetically there is little difference in appearance from the original silencer other than the Enfield Logo and the appearance of the baffles, if installed.

Thanks Ian, I think it will need to work in combination with a DNA air filter to achieve a performance improvement. Paul who has done both to his Hunter has noted an improvement. Looking forward to your long term review Dave. I always thought that the Hunter had a great sound from stock but will be interested to hear if you feel that this end can improves matters, also performance-wise of course. It sounds nice with the baffle out but I imagine you'll be keeping it in ( as I would ). So I'd be interested to hear if you think that this silencer with the baffle in actually improves anything in the real world. Cheers Dave, Garry & Ruby

Hi Garry & Ruby, thank you for the comment. I’m running baffle out at the moment and it makes very little difference to the sound volume of the exhaust. I’m planning on doing a sound test with a db meter in the near future to determine how much difference it makes. I think the real benefit will come from the free flowing nature of the silencer, I’ve also just fitted a DNA free flowing air filter and the bike does seem a little less restricted although I’m still only 1/3 of the way to running in so holding back at the moment. I suspect removing the CAT would be necessary to really release the full flow, but that’s for the future. I’m absolutely smitten with the Hunter at the moment, it has such a charm about it, it really takes me back to my youth 😁 Hope to catch up with you on one of your Live’s in the very near future 👍🏻 Dave

@@MerciaMoto Hi Dave, yes, I always thought that the Hunter would be very reminiscent of a classic British lightweight and that seems to be the case. Probably feels like a “hot” old school 250 single, coming in as it does, somewhere between a 250 and a 500. I could be tempted myself but as I discovered when I had the Classic 350, having two bikes for the road is a bit daft when you struggle to ride one regularly. I shall look forward to seeing how you two get on with yours though, I sense some hooligan action on the horizon 😂 Cheers Dave, Garry & Ruby

Superbly filmed Dave. The beauty of applying ACF 50 the way you have is it's so much cleaner! Spraying gets absolutely everywhere you don't really want 😂. The Hitchcocks unit does look like a quality product and should last for years. Would it be possible for you in the future when you've some time available, to do a before and after sound test out on the road using previously filmed 'footage' cut into new filming with the Hitchcocks exhaust? I realise this is a lot to ask of you for no return for your efforts... 😔. Peter

Thanks Peter, yes the manufacturing quality is very good. I’ll definitely do a before and after early in the new year, I’ll even put the old silencer back on to do it with properly positioned microphone set up and decibel meter, there doesn’t appear to be very much of a perceivable increase in sound volume. 👍🏻

Looking at the parts sheet on Hitchcocks the catalytic converter appears to be in the exhaust pipe behind a heat shield? Is the new silencer an absorption type like the Burgess (going back many years here) type do you think? Do you need another audio story for tomorrow btw.

@@Lanes-Explorer5733 I was pondering where the catalytic converter is located and assume it to be in the lower section of the exhaust below the brake pedal. Must investigate further 🤔 another story, yes please! 👍🏻

Sir can we install a interceptor type long silencer to a hunter 350 Wanted to see it, i guess no body has done it till now, certainly not in any country yet.

The two fixed female threads that they’ve welded on to take the heat shield give zero tolerance for error unlike the OEM one which has some float in it.

Good question 🤔 there’s a noticeable increase in sound between the stock and this silencer, not excessive but very rich and throaty. Potentially a slight increase in power due to free flowing characteristics. It’s subjective as to weather the slight benefits outweigh the cost. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment 👍🏻
