Do Expert Electrical also deliver to you same day in the morning when you arrived at that job and forgot bits? 🤔 If your gunna call on your local wholesaler to get you outta trouble, shouldn't you support them over an online firm? Just because they give you bunts on a Bundy10 code??? Love your videos and been following for a long time, but really gets my goat when you spend the majority of your money online & only call on the locals when your in the sh*t, just don't think its a good example to be setting.! I'm awaiting the day that due to your excessive online spend their aren't any locals left to call on.!

I like Monday Club but sometimes it can be a grind to get through. It really needs some polish and pre-planning to make it more professional. Taking some time to discuss before hand what you want to cover and set rough times to how long you'll talk about each will help massive. (You could even use breaks in future to add adverts). Example, the latest episode - in just the first alone15mins you covered, Ev chargers, Tools of the week, Health and safety at work, Training Apprentices and Kim coming to work for you. None of it with any real substance. You could of easily done a really interesting 10-15mins on Marks EV stuff if you'd thought about some questions to ask before hand (like the Electrical OM stuff). Mark is a super knowledgeable guy and probably over half your audience are domestic sparks and don't do any EV stuff or are thinking of getting into it and would find it interesting. Kims Social Housing was really good stuff and is the type of stuff you should lead with. You also need Sam to have a post-it on his monitor saying 'Be Professional'. 1000s of people do watch it from different ages and every week someone has to reel him in. You aren't going to attract bigger sponsors if you are talking about stealing everything from site or coverings peoples stuff in paint or sabotaging coffee or making sure pictures are of proper tools . It needs to be more professional. He always seems to skip through topics when he gets bored or thinks of something else he wants to talk about. Also, what you might class as 'banter' between friends can come off D*ckish to strangers, especially to the older crowd (like always calling Amy the apprentice or taking the mick out of you being a domestic spark when you are both doing amazingly well for yourselves) It's a good niche you're trying to fill, god know electricians do a lot of driving to listen to it. It's just you are like 30 episodes in and the format isn't much different to episode 1. it just needs some polish and pre-planning to it to keep the conversation flowing and interesting. You'll probably find it a lot easier to do as well. Sorry, I didn't mean it to be a giant rant.

Hey Bundy, apprentice here. When you have a loose live on the ring circuit which you then put into a 20a breaker is that a suitable fix? From my view you still have two loose lives in the ring which could potentially be dangerous right?
@NBundyElectrical
@NBundyElectrical 3 года назад
hey ollie, if you have an open circuit i.e. a ring main that has been broken it then becomes to radial circuit so by derating the breaker to 20amp covers the cable as it is only then rated to maximum 26 amp I think, this is what I normally do if we can't find the fault we were just derate the breakers , hope that makes sense bud

Running bonding round the outside of the house, I have a question: Is there anything wrong with using 10mm black and oversleeving at the terminations with g/y heatshrink? I can;'t see anything in BS7671 to prohibit it, and it would look neater than g/y in my opinion?

@TheChipmunk2008
@TheChipmunk2008 2 года назад
@@paulegan1476 TLC again, they do packs of heatshrink with G/Y in, or ebay. The cable is just normal conduit singles, same as the 10mm earth, to 6491 [i'm not actually sure of what that means, I seem to recall it was a table in earlier versions of the regs]. The regs actually do say the cable should be identified, and allows labels or letters also. I've also considered grey to go on concrete foundations where the gas meter is a fair run from the electrical intake and the easiest route is outdoors. Got to watch for UV resistance, but even quite old green and yellow seems to just fade, not crack up like the older T&E did when exposed to UV. Another option would be flexible conduit *hat tip to Nick*.... it's available in quite small diameters, if the run is short :)

I don't like that Ground wire run at all, is that really allowed? So vulnerable to damage which would leave just the gas pipe as protection. I would have thought that a well placed Ground Rod sunk close by into the soil would better? When we did rewires, I admit many years ago, we used triple Ground i.e. Water, Incoming power jacket and a Ground Rod. We were told then, never to use Gas pipes. How times change :-)

Just a thought, not a critisism, is that PVC insulation UV rated for external use, and does it really matter ? Is there a regulation covering it's use externally and not in containment? I have no idea myself as it's a long time since I worked as a spark, last I did was 17th edition. Iremember being supplied with some co-ax cable many years ago and the supplier supplied duct grade and it was being used externally and within two years the PVC insulation was crarking and exposing the copper braid due to UV exposure. The site was closing down at some point so the longevity did not matter at that point. Exposed copper can to a degree protect itself onece exposed and I have seen bare copper pyro that has been 'weathered' and still functioning 50 years later ! Does anyone here know of any regulation covering this subject ?

I don’t know why you spoil the job by using cheep consumer units. I get fed up going to jobs only to find a cheap consumer unit fitted. The next electrician comes along ,can’t easily source a mcb or rcbo of the same make so sticks any make in. In a way you can’t blame them although that’s against regs. A couple weeks ago I had a Hagar mcb fail. That’s rare in its self . But I had one on the shelf but if I didn’t my wholesaler would have one for me delivered the next day . Not oh we don’t keep them.Or we can get one in 10 days but there will also be a handling charge.
