Hi Nic, in reference to your snapped screw. Use a junior hacksaw to cut a deep grove in the top and then a flat head screw driver to undo the broken screw. Hope this helps in the future. Great vids, love your energy.

Quick note, for future just in case you need it whenever you paint flat surfaces: - Use a mini roller, is quicker and even paint distribution on the surface. Also dries quicker at a roller distributes the pant a bit thinner then a brush. * painter & decorators advice.

Thank you! I usually do but as my van is so tiny I only have a small amount of tools on me. Sadly no space for a roller and tray and to clean them they're much more messier than a brush 😪. As over half the ply was going to be covered anyway I thought the brush will be good enough 🤗

Great work! So good to see. I felt your frustration. I get like that when I'm tired and overwhelmed and something goes wrong. The saying "Progress not perfection" came to mind. Hope it helps! 😊 The basket space looks great and so does everything you did. Such a helpful tip on the tyres. Im making a note of that! 😊✊🌠 Oooh and I loved the river pebble beach. Me & my friends used to hang out on one in Hay on Wye area in Wales playing music and having fires. The one in Shrewsburry looks like a lovely swimming spot 😊

Mirror and cheap B&M tiles was a nice touch to the sink backsplash 👍 Power tools, these days I just buy most of my diy ones from Lidl, Parkside tools, drill, jigsaw, hot air gun, wet/dry/blower Vac, all use the same 20v batteries. Probably pretty comparable to B&D budget ranges 😃 Keep up the good work, thank you 😃

Great video Nic. Just got back from my trip to south coast in a converted Citroen Dispatch. All inspired by your videos. The conversion took 3 months but time well spent. Off on another painting trip in week. Have fun and stay safe!

Wow nice sink back board love it very well done! by the way drill kits counter sink bits tend to be for wood just use the largest drill bit in the set it drills very quick and easy to counter sink in metal! you really love your van! My whole van build looks wonky but I built the hole thing from flytiped wood and palettes and I have no carpentry skills but it does look good and I built it for me! Your van looks great! Have you thought of fitting a mushroom vent in the roof? it can be opened or shut, let's are in and heat out and light gets through as well x 👍🙂👍oh vent cost £10 !

Good jigsaw blades Bosch or similar make straight lines easier as they don't flex. Get some metal drilling screws from screwfix, they are cheap and go through metal as easy as wood.

Nic another great video.Its good you show the good and bad i/e when you make a mistake and you show and admit what you have done wrong.Shows no one is perfect as in real life. A tip for screwing into metal; Drill the initial pilot hole as standard. Then take your screw, line it up with a drill bit point-to-point and look down the length of it (like looking down a gun barrel). You only want to see the threads of the screw sticking out past the drill bit. This way the screw will bite into the meal for a really secure fit without forcing / bending the metal panel as your forcing a large screw into a small hole. Obviously this isn't a problem when screwing into wood as metal > wood. But metal on metal leads to sheared screw heads! Lesson learned! :) *Or just use self tapping screws for everything :3*

Self tapping would have been the best option, I did do pilot holes for everything. To be honest I just couldn't be bothered to go to a DIY store to get self tapping screws and waste the ones that came with it 😆

You could glue some plastic edging on to make good the rough edge from your jigsaw .....it takes a bit of practice and patience to get good at cutting straight edges with a jig saw and with those cheaper ones it's really not easy but it's awesome to see a young girl getting stuck in and having a go 👍✋🏼well done.

Yeee I could look at that but I think I will just do it properly with a router and use a bigger bit of wood as the guide rather than a thin piece of steel 😂. And thank you for tuning in! 🤗

@@nicroams With a router it will work of course. Just don't take the full depth in one route, do it step by step. It is definitely more work. With a jig saw it's totally normal that a ruler does not work. The blade is never that straight so it will try to walk to the side. If you keep the saw at the ruler, the blade must bend. To stay on track you must compensate this constantly, but not by pressing it to the side (blade will bend again), only by rotating the saw. Try to move it with as little pressure as possible. With a little practice you will get more happy with this saw, it's so quick and convenient. However, if f I use a jig saw, I always leave some material for sanding. 😉

As you have found unless you have a workshop and all the correct tools things don't go according to plan and you have to settle for near enough.......well done anyway your doing a great job.

If the screw sticks out enough you could attach the drill chuck to it and reverse it out slowly.

Looking good, I suggest you cable tie the new trims as it will prevent you from loosing one, ( seen one fly off!!) Also helps to deter them being stollen, yes people steal weird things. Good job 👌

You'll never get anything done with the screws that come in any of those hooks or bolts from b&q, homebase, and etc.. they all need to be replaced with stronger ones.. You are a legend for living in a van.. it is an amazing life style.. I am going to start doing my van at some point very soon so I can get back on it..

Insulation doesn't stop mould 😄. Also note the mould came from the gas inlet which has now been sorted 👍no sign of mould since

Great video. Here’s a challenge if your up to it. I know your in to your natural products. You look to me to have sensitive skin. So. For a week. Cause sea salt and lemon juice scrub. Followed by a cold water refresh. Then. Only wash your face with warm water... and refresh with cold. Pat dry. Now glow... Pretty lady.

Haha yes very sensitive but also like the natural look so fortunately works out for me. I'd give it ago but I'd have to boil a kettle to get warm water and I'm not going to lie I'm far too lazy for that. I use organic jojoba oil and aloe Vera on my skin, sadly it has been irritated recently as I got a new coil 🤣 #girltalk

Not sure if you are a full time van life gal but I can’t imagine anyone living full time in a van or car in the U.K., it’s just not geared up for it, short term yes but for say many months OMG! It must be a nightmare, I lived in West Virginia for 8 years I see why Americans love it and do it, the Whole country is geared up for it

There are quite a few people here who live in there vans or travel for very long periods of time. I have never done it in the USA but from socials it definitely looks a lot easier. England aren't the most keen on campers and they try their best to stop people living differently and there isn't a good infrastructure for campers either. But people make it work 🤗

@@nicroams You got me thinking, I mostly watch guys from the US who live in Vans, Cars, RV Etc but I should check out more van guys in the U.K. I love the states and America people that’s why, I lived in West Virginia 8 years, now I live between the two countries. You got me wondering what it’s like in countries like Germany, Sweden Etc for Van living, I wonder how their countries are geared up for it 🤔 It’s not just Van, RV life Etc that us Brits are not geared up for though, it’s many many things. We seem to make many things in life hard work for ourselves. It kinda blows my mind where Van life is going in the U.K. because lots more people are doing it, and I bet the government have big concerns because they won’t want a lot of it. They’ll think we are kinda heading back towards the 70s & 80s and New Age Traveling, lots of people moving about Etc .... LOL Obviously many folk live this way for all kinds of different reasons, but it blows ya mind because the crazy governments don’t want folks living this way but it’s them who are driving many people towards it with unaffordable housing, exactly the same in the US! Silly governments, greedy developers, landlords Etc. Have a great bank holiday weekend! 👍

I agree with all of that haha. The infrastructure in England in particular is poor for motorhomers. In Europe however it is much more accommodating, they have aires all over the place where you can do your waters and empty waste and stay over for a night if you wish for free 🤗. Wish the UK would follow suit!

@@nicroams I think us Brits Hate any kind of change, so we tend to want to stay stuck in years gone by. Thing is it’s Not just a few simple things that need changing, it’s many! Take Buxton for example where I was born and raised, if a Massive supermarket chain like Tesco pull out of building because the local council give them 10 ton of BS it’s hardly surprising that we don’t have many things here. The local council don’t want things to change, so they’ll put all the Stop signs in to prevent people and companies doing things here. And it’s the same with many other councils in the U.K. I don’t know if it’s because of legal technicalities or not but Buxton do not even have T shirts for sale for tourists, and yet for example we get Many Thousands of tourists here week after week. Same with Bakewell in Derbyshire, No T shirts, they have this crazy idea tourists Only want post cards .... lol I guess places like Buxton are Never going to change and be want we want them to be, same with many other parts of the U.K., so if you want different things you have to get up and move to where they are. When it comes to Van living, RV living America is in 1st gear, and it’s geared up for travelling 24/7 We seem to do loads of things in the U.K. still on a 9 to 5 basis.

Don't list your park ups Nic, there are not that many left in the UK as it is and you can bet for sure that if you list your park ups then the council's will be out with the no overnight parking signs etc faster than you can find new places to park......wild camping is being killed off so make the most of your locations and let others find thier own 🙏

I understand that sharing park ups isn't for everyone and if the park up is genuinely top secret I wouldn't. But more than most they're car parks and laybys that anyone can see. My park ups will be shared with my Patreons only which I am happy with doing 🤗

@@nicroams I hope I didn't sound overly critical it's just that I am a few decades older than you and I have been wild camping in tents and vans for over 45 years and the pace that our freedoms are being taken away at an alarming pace and I worry what the future looks like for my grandkids .Even Spain what used to be a van dwellers paradise has now put all types of measures in place to make wild camping illegal.....I very nearly got a fine for having my side window tilted open in a car park the last time I was there in 2017 and I know of Brits who actually had to pay €250.00 fines 3 months after returning to the UK for parking in places that they believed was ok.....I know I sound like a moaning old fart to you but you have to get to my age to be able to look back and see how much freedom we are losing ......my grandad used to moan to me when I was a teenager about such things in the 70s and he would be doing back flips in his coffin if he knew what the situation is like these days 🤔

I understand where you are coming from but it's not like I have found these places by myself, they are already all over the internet, books, tourism sites etc probably how you found the parks ups originally. I do agree that this is a factor to park ups becoming overwhelmed but not the only. A few decades ago going abroad was not as accessible, now you can get abroad for pennies. Peoples mindsets have changed from living in brick and mortar or staying still to wanting to explore more. With covid limiting people travelling abroad, motorhome sales have increases over 50% in 2020 which will inevitably mean there will be an influx of campers on the road. I feel like these factors have influenced the increase of people at park ups over the decades rather than me sharing a few nice car parks with around 5 people on my patreon 😄

Just to add my two pence . . Those "No Overnight Parking" signs aren't really an issue. 99% of them don't have any traffic order attached, which renders any purported restrictions meaningless. Of those which do have an order, it's equally meaningless as there isn't a legal definition of "overnight", and nobody has ever been prosecuted in court for "overnight parking". I have professional experience of these issues, mostly you can ignore the "No Overnight Parking" signs, the police won't touch them with a barge pole, and local traffic wardens don't work nights! Timed restrictions are different, but nobody can say when night begins and ends, and they would have to prove you were there for the entire duration of "overnight", so don't worry about those. The proposed new Crime Bill is something to worry about though, it would, if passed as is, make it illegal to trespass onto private or land which is held in trust (basically all council land) and if you refuse to move on when asked, the police or council could seize your vehicle. This would make "wild" camping almost impossible, unless you want to put up with being moved on every five minutes. That's the real problem. And don't get me started on electric vehicles. Try camping or touring in an EV! Non starter. Literally!
