First time viewer and now a subscriber. I had no idea these upgrades were available for the Savage Axis. Please enter me in the drawing if it's not too late. Looking forward to watching more of your videos.
I want this! Love the video! Nice to see someone else doing some upgrades to the savage axis. Currently building an axis 350 legend and thanks to you I found the desh site! Good luck on your 30-06 build can't wait to see more videos on that beauty of a rifle!
Scott thanks so much. Awesomeness good luck on your build as well. Check out video 3 of my series if you haven't I add a outstanding quality Buffalo Leather Sling hamd made in Detroit. Really compliments the rifle. Good luck in giveaway you are number 4
Thank you, there were a few things I meant to include but I don't write a script lol so going from top of my head I forget a little. I made notes and will be touched upon next video when I go back over whats been done already. Thank you for watching and thank you for producing quality made in USA performance upgrade parts for the axis. 👍 🔥
@@BarkEaterThe savage axis rifles are accurate and i like the big tang safety button on them. The stocks and plastic parts are the weak link in my mind. Boyd’s laminate stock, aluminum trigger guard and aluminum magazine catch makes it a much nicer rifle
Hi John, thank you I appreciate that. Lol Tupperware would be a improvement. seriously I get it they have to keep cost down somehow on these rifles, but a little more stability would be nice. So glad I found Boyds. Thanks again for watching
excellent video Mike. That's an impressive 30-06 you did a stand up job explaining everything very well done man. safe to say I'm jelouse that rifle is a thing of beauty!!!!!
We did this with the same rifle for my son. Same stock bolt lift kit. We put the desh spin on bolt knob on a glades armory bolt handle. We also put the aluminum trigger gauge on as well. We also changed our the scope base, rings and scope. One thing Ill recommend for this rifle is a mcarbo trigger spring kit makes the trigger pull so much nicer. And Ive talked to guys that used the aluminum mag catch and they had issues with it cut down the mag catch on the mag itself.
That is awesome, sounds like we have pretty much clones 😆 I also have the mcarbo kit, it was actually the first thing I did out of box, prior to firing and prior to the Boyds. Scope is my next upgrade, but once again upgrades go on hold with hunting season coming up. Appreciate you stopping by and best of luck this season for your son and you. 👍
That’s a great video Mike I have the 6.5 Creedmoor that I will be doing the same thing too I already have the plastic boat knob but will be looking into the boatlift bearing and the trigger guard and the Mag catch can’t wait to see you shoot that gun 👍🏻
Thanks so much John. I had to put this project on hold, but I did just upgrade the scope ring mount to a single mount. Ill be doing some sighting in at range next week. Thanks for watching 👍
I forgot to mention in video there are knock offs of Desh design, online that are not. If buying make sure its from Desh the couple bucks you may or may not save isn't worth the trouble. Again thanks for watching 👍 appreciate the feedback.
@@BarkEater I do not at this time. I have it on my wish list. Wanting one for a long time. I hope this will not affect my chances. Thank you for contacting me. Your videos have been helpful and informative
Just bought my first Axis. I put a 3.5 lb trigger spring kit into it. SO much better than the 6 lb pull that came from the factory. Have not fired it yet. Can't wait. Now that bolt lift kit is something I need to get. And please enter me into the Bolt knob drawing.
Isn't such a huge improvement on the 3.5 trigger kit, you'll find its so smooth when firing for sure. Bolt lift is definitely a upgrade I would do again also. Ahh I'm sorry man this vid is over a year old and I drew a winner and shipped it out already. Can't promise anything but if you order the bolt lift kit from Desh Industries reach out and let him know you found him by my vid and you missed the knob giveaway, maybe he has a package deal on the two im not sure. Anyhow thanks for stopping by and watching. The boyds stock vid I have might interest you as well. 👍
@BarkEater I should have realized that by the date. lol But thanks. I will check them out. I went with a 3.5 trigger spring since I am only hunting with this. 2 lbs is too light for my liking in the woods.
@@nathanlambshead4778 i completely agree 👍 thanks again man. I spent morning at range sighting in after new scope mount system, video is uploading now.
I may be wrong about your magazine. But it looks like yours is the original crazy mag that came with the rifle. Mine actually broke at the tap that holds it into the mag well. If ya go on the savage websight they offer an upgraded mag that is 100 tomes better than the original.
Hmm thank you I will look into this right away. I hope to do video on glass bedding this very soon as well. Thanks again for that info, much appreciated
Same caliber I want my Savage in. Always loved Savage Arms. I still own a beautiful Savage 99. In 308. Would be sweet if they started making the 99 against. In 22-250 or 222 would be nice.
Absolutely everything is holding up perfectly. Completely happy and recommend all these upgrades still.. I've replaced the original scope rings this past fall with one piece DNZ and my accuracy has improved even more. I will be glass bedding later this winter and plan on doing a video on that as well. 👍
Solid upgrade for sure. I've looked into a few bolt handle replacements. What brand did you go with? The Desh bolt knob cover definitely helps with clearance but eventually I would like to go the full handle upgrade.
What's up! Great video, will be grabbing some of these things. I want a stock but I like the one that's on there now. Will be doing most sit down bench/up right hunting and I wanna find a more comfortable one, not sure if that ones best? Thanks for the great video! I have a savage axis xp 350 legend (from NJ people think I'm nuts) they hate om the 350 legend here for some reason. I love it! I wish I could find a aluminum bolt handle or steel 😢 the plastic one will do for now!
350 legend is a great low recoil and accurate 200yd caliber. Plenty capable of deer and black bear yet still decent round for I predators. I don't own one, but would be happy to. This Boys spike camp feels awesome, I used it for stand up and treestand hunting last season. I do admit it took some getting used to pulling up and dropping hand into the cutout as I've only ever hunted with classic style rifle stocks. Once you overcome to urge to wrap thumb around stock and put it inside grip its amazing. So I won't lie there might be a learning curve when raising rifle fast to take aim. Boyds literally has hundreds of stock options and if you haven't checked it out the custom stock builder on the website is helpful to look at different options. Thanks for stopping by 👍
