The Reason the Import motors are blowing up is because they are running turbo's wide open with no filter, with sand everywhere. Suck sand into a turbo that size at that speed is definitely going to blow it up.
The insane boost level and loads of these engines is whats blowing them. Theyre launching in 4th with 4wd. By the time the vehicles launch the manifold is already glowing. That should give you an idea.
I want to think running without air filters is stupid, but the way the turbos are mounted high and ahead of the front wheels might keep sand out. Doesnt matter anyway, these people have hundreds of thousands of dollars into this and are the best in the world at what they do. Im sure they didnt build a $100,000 engine and then go "oops forgot the filter so fuck it". Im sure the people who can push 3000hp out of a race engine can also screw a filter on if needed. They arent building for any type of longevity either.
they are building the motor for one run aparently. top tier drag cars are about the same as far as engine life goes. drag racing never really was the most intelligent motorsport, it started as a big dick competition and now its just a big money competition
love it. keep up the good work. a true auto enthusiast don't care about ethnic background. its all about the machine here. so these people look like they are from the middle East. (sorry if I'm wrong). but the bottom line is they are having fun good ole fun. and how the hell can people say it's oil money. how. do they know if these guys have to work hard for their money. stop being negative and racial. and yes I'm American.
+Fredmfk2005 you are actually correct they ar from the middle east in fact U.A.E to be exact. The reason I know is because i went they in january 2016 and I'm from the U.A.E
Some of them their cars made under 1000hp for daily use purpose and to compete in a specific class that why they use a filter on turbos cuz it will not get sucked.. And they don't want to upgrade their cars like the other making 2k to 3k hp open turbos
Very true. Most tuners coat their exhaust manifolds with ceramic finish and wrap the turbine section with ceramic cloth. They do this to keep as much heat in the system as is possible - the conservation of this heat energy helps to reduce lag. I don't think these guys care about lag though.
While I appreciate these engines are so strung out so as to have a life of probably only Minutes, with all that sand flying around, one could not help but think an air filter would be a good idea.
@@WhiteViking010 yea i hear you, its more of a joke of all these uber turbo import motors then boom random v8 power house its like a 3rd gen camaro with a mullet in the middle of a supra and GTR it doesnt belong but it can still bring the heat
This shit is awesome. I love it how they just put their foot to floor and don't let out till they finish or blow the motor. In the US you always seeing people backing out of it or not running it as hard cause they're like "I just built it I don't want to blow it" or "it's so expensive to do a rebuild" bitch then don't race nobody makes you go racing you choose to so don't complain about the money.
And to my fellow Americans on this thread, please stop opening your mouth and proving to the rest of the world how bigoted, racist and hatefull you are. I would love to see this sport in this form make it big in the USA as well as formula off road. Our offroad motor sports are stagnate and need new life. Somthing like what these fellow motor heads are doing would be awesome.
It amazes me how many Americans are so ignorant and concieted that they carry on to the effect that anything not american is inferiour or no good and they can always do something better. Rarely that is in fact the case. No one in world outside of the US think American engineering and technology is anything but adequate at best. The way some yanks are so disparaging of anything not american is only proof of how uneducated and ignorant such a large percentage are. Sure you can build a more powerful engine when it's 2 or 3 times the size but it's not the same thing as getting efficency from a limited displacement. These guys run to their own formulas. They don't give a shit what Americans think or do. Despite the egotistical patriotic ignorance from some americans, they are happy to do what suits them in their country not cater to the whims of the worlds most self absorbed people of all.
Someone ex-plane to me how you can run a turbo that size without a filter on it and Not suck a couple grains of sand in? And if you do how does it not make it to the valves or pistons?
Seems like a decent V8 with NOS is miles ahead in this game 7.7 ........ awesome. The turbo engines have given their best, just tons of unreliability now they have passed the breaking point
Isn't this basically like putting a drift car in a desert and seeing how far it can go? Seems like paddle tires would almost be more efficient, none of that power really goes to the ground
This is ridiculous and the amount of people that actually make it up the hill probably equals the number that blow their engine but its fun as hell to watch. I wish they had this in the states.
wow all these idiots with air filter comments, obviously these are car enthusiasts at best and don't really understand how things work. Nevertheless I will give you the benefit of the doubt and explain things to you. Sure you need the air filter if the air is dusty, but these cars barely have any dust come in them because the turbo sits very high and at the front of the car therefore no dust comes inside.
How can you not compare??? these guys are pulling over 1000hp out of sluggish 4x4 diesel engine's that were never made to ever come close to those numbers or speeds and a top fuel teams blow a motor almost every run and have to rebuild every time with 100% custom everthing built only for super high HP and racing. These guys are blowing motors with 4x4's never made to do what they built them for while a top fuel drag team dose the same with huge sponsors and 100% special gear so in my opinion these guys are pulling off crazier shit than most other types of drag racing so yeah you can compare the 2.
Somethingafw I think you missed my point I was making with my comment. I know top fuel puts down 7000 to 8000 and even seen some put over 10,000hp but their built only for that the motors these guys are using are basically sluggish diesel tractor engines and these guys are pulling over 1000hp in some of these 4x4's witch in my opinion is more impressive what these guys are doing without purpose built equipment and huge sponsor backing.
no they are tb48de's, inline 6's like the rb in the skyline but almost double the displacement at 4.8L(with stroker kits to 5.15L) stock will handle 1kwhp or more they are only available in the nissan patrol and is a beast of a engine.
I don't care where you come from. Motorsports is Motorsports and is loved around the world. If only we judged people based on our similarities rather than what part of the world we come from or what religion we follow.
Does it only matter on road racing cars that to not ruin the tyres too fast you have to add some sort of downforce so it´s not only the tyres struggeling for grip?
No. All built and tuned by either Arab or afghan or Pakistanis in uae. Been there saw it all. Just proves how unreliable these Japanese engines could get under boost and load. Sorry
lol pretty sure there getting best of both worlds i know there big time tunning companys in arab lol ijs and there american haha shitty american cars thou
Outlaw hahaha bro japanese cars are known for theyre relaibilty and the psi on those cars is probably over 35..thats alot of pressure on a 6 cylinder engine..
the percentage rate of blown turbos and components is to high, I respect the ability to design such motor and turbo configurations, but on the other hand, with the know how to build such brilliant ideas, why cant they build a damn hood to cover it?
They dont make a hood to cover it because temperatures in saudia can climb upto 49 degrees celcius so its better to leave it open so that the engine doesnt overheat
Relatively big buck machines and still only a few of t9hem run clean at all.. Most are misfiring (and I dont mean the lc or antilag some use) from the start, yet they keep pushing usually ending in a big dnf. ..and that is really stupid and amateur stuff. It doesn't matter what parts or how much money you throw in race car if you don't have anyone to tune the setup properly. Sorry.
They use RB30 with different engine head, those were used in some Patrols and Australian Honden brand . Some Skyline owners convert RB30 block with RB26 engine head and make hybrid engines.
damn at the end they finally realize too much boost in the launch was causing to dig their trucks and the one the did 9s pretty smart trotle play at 9:58
+reem el zarouni Ignorance and stupidity on the part of the commenters. I think this is awesome. Takes money AND skill to make something that'll survive that kind of abuse even once.
Right, but running on an oval circuit and bullying your way to the finish line in NASCAR makes perfect sense... o_0 do you even know what are the rules here? or your superiority complex is preventing you from asking gently?
confuzler You apparently missed the point. The issue wasn't the hill climb. The issue was no inner fenders, allowing sand to be thrown right up into the open turbos. The amount of weight saved by removing the inner fenders is worthless, especially when considering the amount of engine protection they offer.
Strange they don't use paddle tires, would be a lot more interesting and also these V6 engines seems to be tuned a bit over the top. Majority of them didn't even finish the track.
I have a 1996 Honda Odyssey that has mild transmission issues and a few leaks here and there. Have the stock tires on there too. Ran a 4.3 in this event easy.
Have you ever wo dered why all these motors look brand new fresh from the factories not even a scratch i dont think they clean and polish them that often but its just a thousand like if you get where im going with this
indeed you are correct sir. It also has to do with velocity which is created by expanding heat. Hence how anti lag works with combustion in the exhaust manifolds creating boost. An appropriately velocity sized crossover pipe with gasses approaching the speed of sound with ceramic coating would be optimal.
partially, what is mostly to blame however is the rapid changes in rpms caused from the engine being loaded and unloaded from the sand, way different from the street where the tune can pretty much always predict the operating conditions. its like bouncing a car off the rev limiter non stop, its going to destroy the engine even if its set at only 3k rpms these are seeing the change much quicker though.
you use a radiator to not overheat and engine and keep it in the best temperature for making power (180 degrees) you use a intercooler to have the coldest air coming in to an engine when using forced induction, primarily on turbochargers because you get heat soak from the turbine housing -not sure what you mean by "fins on motor" if you mean air cooled engines only thats just too help dissipate heat -And yes people CNC parts but that doesn't mean they dont engineer the metals to for the use
not sure on the bolt patterns but not sure it would fit under the hood to be honest, the first outlaw class r35 ran one stroked to 5.15 making 1800 to the wheels iirc
state of tune more than anything is whats causing the failures. there is not really anything to filter out of the air especially only running for a short period of time. and obviously unrestricted airflow is a big plus for performance.
