Took a trip to Uprev down in Austin, TX to have my 06 350Z (6MT) properly dyno tuned by the professionals. This was after receiving a basic reflash.
The guys there did a great job and turned my car into a properly stealthy little beast.
Before: 258 whp / 243 wtq
After: 271 whp / 253 wtq
+ 16whp @ 6600rpm
Note: All numbers are from 4th gear. 5th Gear (1:1) numbers would be approximately 5whp and 5wtq higher.
List of mods is at the end of the video and in the tag.
Enjoy the video, let me know what you think, and feel free to rate it and comment! Thanks!

It was about $700+ ($500 for Osiris, $200 or so for dyno tune), which is a bit expensive. But the extra power combined with the newfound reliable performance gives me a satisfaction and peace of mind that is easily worth every penny.

@ Sebastian Rosenberg I don't know why it isn't giving me the option to reply to your comment... Either way, you just do it yourself. They mail you a cable, email you some predetermined tune mpas based off of the car/mod list you provide to them, and then you reflash your ECU from your laptop using the instructions they provide. It's a breeze, really. Then, you should get 3 e-tunes which require you to perform some datalogging of performance and parameters on your car. You can email those datalogs to Uprev, and they will adjust your tune to match your car more closely. It's dyno tuning without the dyno. There should also be a version which allows you to tune the car yourself and play with the maps, but it is substantially more expensive and technical. Hope that helps.

@s2kman89 Awesome! They replaced the short block (lower half) of the engine and I got it back just over a week ago. And yeah, they put my Stillen headers on there free of charge (since they had to remove the stock exhaust manifold anyway). The car sounds like a complete MONSTER now. I had to be careful with the break-in for the first 500 miles, but otherwise it's all been good.

Alright sounds good i cant wait to see your numbers! and ill post some vids up soon of my z when i get a chance, it only had intake and exhaust but i have a few vids of me beating the HR model 350z's ill let you know when i post them

Yeah, parked is still awesome (90% of sound sample videos on RU-vid). It could help me make a decision about whether or not I want to get headers in the future, so whenever you post it, let me know, if you could.

I had thought so, until I actually did three successive pulls (3rd, 4th, 5th) on a dyno here in town. I gained about 5hp and 5tq each time. I hear you on the multiplication, and it would seem to make sense, but for one reason or another, it doesn't turn out that way. I'll look into it and see if I can figure out why. Either way, I'll get a 5th gear pull here in town to compare with my previous ones before the tune.

@s2kman89 I'll definitely post a video as soon as I get new numbers. I'm not sure when that will be, as I'm heading out to Afghanistan pretty soon. We'll see, though. As for the engine, my understanding is that they actually replace it with the updated, non-defective version of the Rev-Up engine. They supposedly fixed the problem halfway through the production life of the 06 model, and those of us with the earlier one just got screwed. You *should* be fine.

@s2kman89 Really funny you should ask that. My car is in the shop right now having a new small-block installed thanks to that oil consumption issue. If you had asked me a year ago, I would have said everything was fine. It works out, though, because I'm having them throw on Stillen headers with no installation charge since they're down there anyway :)

Osiris/UPREV FTW......my 03 made 273/259 with similar bolt-ons.

I wonder what the UpRev tune will do for my Z after I have the engine rebuilt. I found a shop that is going to install 11.0:1 compression Wiseco pistons with Eagle H-Beam rods, mill the water jackets for better cooling install the VQ35DE RevUp oil pump, port and polish the heads and install 264 Nismo cams.

No problem. That's a nice setup. See if you can get a baseline dyno or something to that effect - the final number of dynos is really never that important. It's really the gains that you should concern yourself with, since dyno numbers fluctuate from shop to shop. I'm assuming you have an 06?
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 13 лет назад
@s2kman89 Yeah, fortunately my Z still has its warranty, and it's covering the issue. If your warranty hasn't been voided by miles or time, you should be able to get it covered as well since it's a known issue detailed in a technical service bulletin. Thanks again. I'm probably going to get it all dyno tuned sometime mid-February, and I'll post video, numbers, etc on here when I do. It's going to be epic :p

Should have little to no effect on the tune. I can't say for certain whether it gained any power, but the car revs a bit quicker and perhaps "easier." I got mine used with the belt for 60 bucks. It is any easy install and such; so I guess it's worth it. I say if you can find one in good condition used it would be worth it, but I wouldn't pay the 200 for a new one. Hopefully in the next two-three weeks I can get some results from the two intakes.
@s2kman89
@s2kman89 13 лет назад
wow very interesting, is your warranty covering the problem because my car is sitting at nissan but i have a really bad feeling that they are not going to cover it. And congrats on the headers im curious to see what kind of numbers you will be putting down with all your bolt ons
@03threefiftyz

I have a crappy vid on my phone of it on the dyno, but no numbers on the vid. I am doing a 3" MAF and Intake Tube here soon. Along with a comparison b/w 06 box and JWT intake. I will do my best to get a camcorder for it. I have seen some of your posts on my350z. I have the same name over there if you are curious to my mods. Also have a post of my post tune with results from a dyno dynamics (read 10.4% lower than my results on the dyno dynamics on the same day).

Nice! yeah i guess my head was damaged as well because i got the long block replaced. My big question is, does nissan give you a corrected motor or just the same 06 engine that will probably burn oil again at one point? because that motor is defective. And let me know when you get your new numbers with the headers!
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 15 лет назад
I love them. Granted, I wasn't a huge fan of the rasp, which kicks in a little at 3400rpm, but it has grown on me. How do you like the headers? I've been thinking of getting them for some time now. If there are any more mods I'm going to get, that's probably going to be it. Otherwise, I'm staying where I'm at.

@oNAGAo

Yeah, I'm in a very similar position with the intake. I'll be watching that thread, for sure. Hey, did the UR Crank Pulley make much of a difference? I'm tempted to move in that direction, but I'm not sure if it would be worth it... not to mention what effect it would have on my car now that it's been tuned.
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 13 лет назад
@s2kman89 I took mine to 7250. I can't remember where I found the info, but there was some forum post on My350Z dot com that had the general guidelines for what you can safely push the redline up to. You certainly *can* have a 7500 redline, but I'm not sure if that's pushing the limits of safety. Could be fine, but I'm just not sure. You would probably benefit from it if it's safe - our engines' torque levels do drop off a bit at the top end, but not too severely.
@vTxPeter
@vTxPeter 14 лет назад
Oh okay thanks for letting me know! =D Is your car now pushing 270 something =D almost 280? Thats what Im aiming for and my set up right now is HKS Hi Power exhaust with Helix Test Pipe, JWT Pop Charger, MREV with 5/16 Spacer ! Hoping to be making atleast 277
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 14 лет назад
Well the gains are in the video: 13 whp, 10wtq, with a gain of 16whp at 6600rpm. As far as the Air/Fuel ratio, I was running pretty lean prior to the tune, but the tune fixed all of that. So I'm now running exactly where I want to be thanks to the tune (also in the video, AFR = 12.9). Getting the MREV will likely make your car run pretty lean - the Z/G ECU really doesn't respond well to mods at all. So it would definitely be a good idea to get your car tuned, and I recommend Uprev all the way.

check out my nissan pathfinder being tuned at performance motorsports with up rev tuning this by far is the best way to go .. up rev rulez!!! also check out my dyno run..

I suck with Winpep, so I can't get the torque numbers to show up or pinpoint the values. HP looks like it peaks at approx. 6150 rpm.

I need a tune I thought my mafs or throttle bodies were bad its just the afr needs adjusting if feels like its in limp mode but it's my air intakes are messing with the stock ecu tuning. Correct me if im wrong.
@vTxPeter
@vTxPeter 14 лет назад
Yeah mine is an 2006 and yeah I'll forsure get a baseline dyno and see how much the gain is? But yeah I just wanted to see whats some of my final number would be after the tune? Ive been doing some research and found that I'll probably be looking around 275-285 after Osiris Tunning =D
@s2kman89
@s2kman89 13 лет назад
@oNAGAo Alright sounds good man, hey after your tune did you bring your redline to 7500 and if not is that possible with osiris? or can you benefit from it?
@s2kman89
@s2kman89 13 лет назад
@oNAGAo Alright man so I got my 06 motor covered by nissan for oil consumption, im thrilled! did your motor ever get replaced and did you ever put the headers back on? im trying to do the same thing before the new engine goes in
@uhZeny

I've got a z1 cai, kinetix manifold, DC headers and hks rep exhaust. do you think a tune like this would benefit me? it's on the 03 de engine so...what gains do you think I'd be looking at?
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 7 лет назад
Definitely. A tune would make a very big difference, and it would actually be a really good idea in order to ensure your car is running with a safe air/fuel ratio. Generally speaking, the ECU on the VQ35DE (03-06) does not respond very well to modifications. As a result, the AFR tends to run lean as you add breathing mods like intakes and exhaust. Moreover, you generally need to tune the car in order to realize the gains that new headers make available. I can't necessarily say how much you should expect to see from a good dyno tune, but if I had to guess, I would say somewhere between 15-20whp gained from a tune. (headers usually add around 10whp at the top end when you tune for them) So with all of that said, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you get a dyno tune. And don't settle for some cheap remote tuning solution - take your car to a professional tuner who is specializes in the platform, and get a dyno tune using either Uprev or EcuTek. If you do that, you will realize substantial gains, have your car running safer, and finally get your money's worth out of all of those modifications you've put on your car. Hopefully that helps. If/when you get it tuned, you should definitely post a video; I'm curious how close my estimate is. :)

Can someone explain to me? I went to UpRev's website and I can order orisis or whatever online. How does it work? Do I just do it myself? Is it that easy? I'm interesting in mapping modes they talked about.
@Speedaholics
@Speedaholics 8 лет назад
Does tuning the ECU remove the cruise control functionality? Because I know that the cruise control is how you scroll through the different modes.
@oNAGAo
@oNAGAo 8 лет назад
No, all of that remains fully functional. Switching maps requires that you hold down one of the switches while pressing another button however many times you need for whichever map it is - something you wouldn't otherwise be doing.

oNAGAo ahh ok thanks man. That's good news
@vTxPeter
@vTxPeter 14 лет назад
how much was the gain when you got it tune with all of the mods on? and is it still running lean or were you running lean without the uprev tune? please let me know because im about to get my Z tune soon and my MREV is on its way Thank You =)
