The layout is looking great, and I like many can’t wait to see you track work making a complete run. I also would say to try or experiment working in Kadee couplers. I never had issues with them and they tend to handle well and you may like them better.
Cool, thanks! I definitely will do something about the ScaleTrains autoracks, Their long shank couples not only do not operate well, they also produce excessive distance between cars.
Wow D!!!!!! You are making want to build my own layout right now, but I don't have the room to do so. Love your video's back even when you were doing N scale......great job!!! Can't wait for the next video........"Have fun running trains.......in HO"!!!!!!!!!!
That is looking awesome Daryl!! You have a large basement and lots of space to have a massive layout. I look forward to seeing your progress and seeing this layout come together. Thanks for sharing. Happy modeling!! -Jason
Long trains, grades and DPU will force you to use metal couplers, I would recommend start as you buy HO cars and use Kadee couplers. Your layout is looking great and your plan is superb. Hooah!
Unbelievable progress Daryl, well done! It's both inspiring and a bit depressing - on my RU-vid channel I'm happy if I can report on a freshly painted section of road or a single new kit built, and you create a mighty empire in no time at all.... Keep the videos coming please!
Start off with a big WOW!, First, so far looking good, smooth running as always and yes, it backs up with no issues. The walk around really gives us a great look at how much space you have even in HO. And then the upper deck plans. As much as I was bummed out about saying good bye to the old layout and N scale, I am very much looking forward to the new railroad. Thanks and stay well.
They may not have them in stock, but if you order them they will make them. Just figure on weeks or months to get them. I ordered mine through logic rail.
Wow you've been a busy man! 8ft more of a layout in less than a week?! Not talking about all the other work you have accomplished!!! Keep it up you may make a complete run by summer! If only you had all those walls completed already...
great video as always. i might not comment often but i watch ^^. but now i saw something that i must try and get depending on if you ship worldwide ^^. because those water tender sets. is something im missing ^^
Your progress is nothing short of amazing. Did you super elevate the big curve and are you planning to super elevate any other curves? I look forward to episode 15.
I might do so down the line. But, I'm not really sure it is worth the effort. People have also mention transition curves. Not really too excited about transition curves either. If I did transition curves, the 60" radius would be reduced to 54 or so. I don't want to do that.
WOW…gonna be some layout…would love to actually see it some day but many miles apart 😊…you’ve probably got the Kadee coupler advice already…the only mfg couplers I’ve not had to switch out are Exact Rail rolling stock
That's how all layouts in any scale should be. Sweeping gental curves and a lot of scenery. I personally hate spegatti type as much track as posable layouts.
Love what you are doing with your new layout. I've followed along on the old layout, and like you hated to see it go. I'm just getting caught up with your new build. I know you hated the sewer line, and you've done a great job of hiding it. I haven't read all the comments on all the videos, so this may have already be asked and answered before. I hate to be a Debbie Downer, however, have you considers access to the sewer clean-outs? I know one seemed to be in the furnace area, however, the smaller one looks to be behind the drywall. Again, great job on the layout!! I'm retired myself, so I know having the time is key to your fast progress. I think you need a UP hat :)
Yes, there is one clean out covered by drywall. I thought about making an access door, but decided against it. There is a total of seven clean outs in the basement which is way more than I've ever had in any other house. There was only one in our previous houses in GA and IL. Also the master shower drain is straight shot to the covered up clean out, so I don't think it will be a problem.
Wondering what software you used to build your CTC panels? Also, how do you create the multi-screen panel? Is it part of your software or a separate file for each screen? Finally, your pre-planning and execution of those plans are beyond any expectations. I always looked forward to Sundays and football. Now I look forward to your updates.
Thanks! Currently Gold is $700, Silver is $350, and Bronze is $175. Hoped you were using Bronze because I have a double main with automated crossovers, detection, and signals. Using JMRI- CATS, but it crashes much too often and I have to start from scratch when it does crash.
@@AJVecchiolla48 I've had mine since 2006 which I believe is before the different bronze, silver gold designations. You should have no problems with bronze doing those things. I think the main things you will be missing are train automations. The Europeans like having the computer control train movements whereas we like operating the trains ourselves.
