Real talk! Great video. Surveying old school warehouse workers helps new hires put together the perfect survival kit. Rain jacket in your car at all times, Steel-toed boots, extra pair of shoe laces, comfortable socks, dry change of clothes, gloves with high grip ability, eye protection, masks or face coverings to protect from dust particulates and foreign pollen coming from other states that you might not be used to breathing, a legitimate first-aid kit in your car with cleaning supplies, ointment, and proper bandages that go above and beyond the buildings first aid kit supplies, foods that will stay intact and not melt at higher temperatures, and so many other very important essentials. Above and beyond those basic essentials it is critical to bring a clear head to work every day so that you can go home with all your fingers and toes still attached to your bodies. Be sure to do a pre work check before leaving your house every day to be certain you have your IDs, your hydration sources, your food, and your dry change of clothes, deodorant, and so on. Practice the fundamentals daily, stay hydrated, get plenty of exercise outside of work too, alleviate negative stress daily, maintain a proper diet at work and at home, get plenty of sleep, stretch regularly, and don’t be afraid of taking an occasional cold shower or ice bath in the spring and summer, and stay disciplined when taking vitamins and supplements. Very important for long term health, mental and physical strength, daily durability, and so on. Build good habits. Thank you for your service to the brown and gold and to the local and surrounding communities that depend on each and every one of us daily.
My Autistic Teenage son is getting ready to start at UPS and this is his first job so I have allllll the questions to prepare him and you have answered so many!!! Thank You so much for making this video!
That is awesome! Wish I could sit with him and spill my guts about how to survive in such a stressful environment. The one piece of advice I give everybody is to stay focused and not let everything else going on around you in the hub be too much of a distraction. Don’t give up too quickly. It takes a little bit of time to see the greener grass side of the fence but it is there. My hope for everyone is that they find good mentors or wing warriors that will look out for them daily and feed them the best advice they learned all along the way in their own journeys to make those that come in the door after them just that much better at surviving the process. United Parcel Service employees at all levels are truly unsung community super heroes. I wish him the best of luck in his endeavors.
Been at UPS almost 2 years, I work unload and the bulk belt. The union made me shop steward a few weeks ago, so now I deal with grievances and drama, I don’t mind though.
I just watched this video and why we end up getting the same exact boots lmaoo P.S. I usually have a Podcast queued up which are generally good time killers. 3 podcasts and boom shift over 🙌🏾
I love ur vibe girl thank YOU SO MUCHH for this video, I start orientation on Tuesday next week as it’s my first job and I’m nervous cuz I know it isn’t all sunshine and glitter but I could def handle some hard work if it means I get a snatched body AND get payed 😏
Hey great video thanks for it starting at ups next month and I was just wondering can you keep your clear backpack with you in the warehouse or you have to put it in the locker ? It sounded like you got to keep it on the floor but just wanted to make sure
honestly it’s just a sitting instructional meeting but they required us to wear our boots and everything to it since they take you into the warehouse to walk around. also I heard someone the other day say they started right after their orientation so idk if things have changed since it’s peak season.
yeah, wear boots to orientation! at my location they checked and made sure even though we didn't do any real work. they just want to make sure youre prepared and ready!
How was your first day?! Also NRG is not in stores it’s online but here’s the link shoptlcnow.com/nrgcp-en-s-zz/nrgcp-en-s-zz.html?lang=en&ccode=us&sponsor=iamjoypayne
@@enjoylife_360 thanks for the reply I supposed to start on the 8th next month I wonder is it a lot of work it says I’ll only be working 10pm to maybe 3am
@@nasbarlow4887 your schedule will vary I know my start times vary between,9:30 ,9:45,10:00,10:15,10:30….your daily hours are usually 4 hrs give or take but a check definitely has 20hrs plus on it. And now that peak season is about to hit it’ll probably be 5 hrs each day. Definitely try to rush you out of there before you hit 5 hrs because anything over 5 hrs your overtime pay will kick in. All if you go in around 9 something you usually get off around 1 something and if you go in around 10 something it’s usually around 2 something… but I like I said everyday varies …you really never know but you will definitely be working hard the entire time .
because I’ve already done videos giving that information and the title of this video tells you exactly what the video is going to be about and it was very helpful to the people who needed it. so if you didn’t want to see a video about that then you should’ve kept scrolling as soon as you read the title.
