When I checked the score at 90+ and saw it was still 1-0 Jamaica I actually felt relieved. I was thinking, "This finally will force USMNT to move away from GGG for good".

This is probably the first game against Mexico in a while where I feel like they have a good chance of winning after watching USA vs Jamaica

We didnt learn anything that we didnt already know. -Gio is our best playmaker -Berhalter's 4-3-3 just doesnt work -Antonee Robinson is the only good wide player -Musah isnt a 6 -any hopes for 2026 are DOA if nothing changes I mean for gods sake we were 1 freak deflection from losing to half of Jamaica's B team in our own building. And even then jamaica should have scored at least 1 more.

Gio is just flat out on a whole other level compared to everyone else on the pitch last night.

One thing I have not heard mentioned is how on his first goal, haji wright got Jamaican defender to “bite” when he first received the ball, and then drove to his left to make space. More praise to Haji!!!

Here's a funny but a true statement If USA lose to Mexico, Gregg Berhalter stays If Mexico lose to USA, Jaime Lozano has a strong probability of getting fired. 😅

One additional thing I learned was about this Jamaican side. They showed a heart and tactical discipline we aren’t used to seeing from Jamaica. If they can keep those traits when their top players return(and maybe a few more new dual nationals) they could be a legit force in the region.

I was at the game. My first time in Dallas and what surprised me was how outnumbered we were in fans. Mostly Mexicans in the crowd! I hope we can show some support on Sunday otherwise the crowd will be very lopsided in a very important match. Many in the crowd were shouting Berhalter out which was funny. You can tell fans are upset! Overall it was an embarrassing win. Aaronson, Reyna, and Wright completely changed the game the second they came in. Let’s go boys, beat L Tri!

My heart was rooting for us to win. My brain was rooting for us to lose. Only multiple bad losses, like this would have been, will relieve us of the blight of Gerg.

What I learned in no particular order: 1. Balogun is struggling in this lineup 2. Musah isn't really a 6 3. M. Robinson might not be great, but that position is thin. 4. I'm not sure Scally is the answer. 5. 4-3-3 for this team seems inefficient. 6. GB does not really adjust. 7. GB needs to probably go. 8. Haji isn't as bad as previous thought. Being on Coverntry has helped his game. Looks slighlty stronger and less thin. 9. With all Dest's faults he is needed. 10. Gio is an excellent playmaker but needs to build up his upper body strength.

Gio better fkn get a move to a team that will play him. Seeing how easy he can cook, while other guys like a Tilman who is doing great at PSV, last night couldn’t. Just makes me want Gio to get a move to Ajax… he would shine so f’n bright.

Filippo, all spot on. I actually think we didn't learn anything that we didn't already know. Some observations. I place the blame of the first goal 25% on Robinson, 25% on Scally, and 50% on Turner. Turner did not really organize the defense and really should have saved that header. I thought Robinson and Richards were a good pairing in central defense; I hope their legs aren't jello for Sunday. Did you notice how virtually all the offence in the first half, such as it was, ran through Musah and not Wes? Wasn't Musah the 6 in these scheme?? although the formation requirements in Berhalter ball continue to strike me as completely nuts. Wes was pretty good as a right back. Adams was good in his limited minutes and sent some nice crossfield accurate balls. I don't think Johnny made a single mistake while he was out there. You're right about Pulisic but teams have learned to belly up to him immediately and then always provide cover, which is why in the game he was always moving sideways or passing back. They make it a point never to have him isolated 1 on 1. Balogun is not a 9, he is a withdrawn forward or a false 9. GGG's philosophy really requires at true 9. Wright and Pepi are true 9s, and frankly I think Gio may work best with a true 9 who can play with back to goal, where Gio sends a ball in gets the return pass, the 9 turns and Gio sends the exquisitely weighted through ball off the 1-2. Finally, you want Berhalter fired? Here's what needs to happen. We have to crash out of Copa in the group stage with ZERO points. That's right THREE losses. Otherwise it's Berhalter soccer terrorism for the entire cycle.

In the context of group stage games, yesterday was a draw (and almost a loss). So, Bolivia and/or Panama can absolutely tie or beat us at Copa America. Both are better than the team that Jamaica used last night. They just need to briefly study any of the countless examples of GGG's tactics not being able to break down a compact defense, and then follow the blueprint. Entirely possible we manage 2-3 points total in Copa America's group stage, and don't advance. If the last three competitive games are an example to go off, I'm actually being generous. In 90 minute games, we've: - Barely tied Jamaica's team minus their best 5 or 6 players (FIFA ranked 57, but without those top players they are more like 75 or lower) - Lost to T&T (FIFA ranked 96) - Beat T&T with goals at the 82nd minute and later, after they had been down a man since minute 37 None of those results inspire any confidence. Panama, at 44th, is ranked higher than either T&T or Jamaica. Bolivia, at 86th, is also ranked higher than T&T and would be better than the Jamaica team we just tied through 90 minutes. I won't even get deep into what Uruguay will do to us, but suffice it to say that if we can only manage a 96th minute own-goal against that Jamaican squad, and can go 45 minutes without scoring on a T&T squad of 10 players, we aren't scoring on Uruguay. They are renowned for their defensive capabilities, and have serious offensive firepower as well.

Scally was a disaster on this one

We got so lucky yesterday. I just cannot understand how a team with the best talents from Europe manage to be this mediocre in games that matter. All because of a coach that shouldn’t have been hired last June. How can we beat the best when the team underachieves and fights for the bare minimum against teams like Jamaica or Trinidad and Tobago. I’m pretty concerned on if we can even get out of the group. Can Gregg even get a signature win when he expects teams to play disjointed and anemic. It says it all when a notable team members supports a coach who carry this team to the bare minimum and they will have to deal with it until 2026.

We'll see with Dest and Weah working together, Pulisic will have a lot of space on the left to work and will not need to be moved to the right. Not defending Gregg, but the only win I can think of is 2-0 at home to Mexico in WC Qualifying as signature win. But that's all.

The players need to be able to get hungry, be creative, and have some fun against a lesser talented team. And, individuals need to take ownership of this hunger on the field and inspire one another. Pulisic tried in his own way but it wasn’t enough. Gio was the biggest game changer in this one.

I really loved watching last summer's Nation League's finals; the team played well, looked good and had swagger under BJ. Same players under Gregg do not look good or have swagger. I believe BJ created a game plan for both games last summer and had the team leaders be incharge of getting the team focused and energized; Gregg is unable to do both. I know you don't like Jesse, but I would take him over Gregg everytime.

The problem is how we use our LB and RB. Dest and Jedi do not offer so much in terms of offense (assists, goals, or creativity) that we benefit from GGG's approach. We need our LB and RB to be largely defensive because this team is going to be built around an attacking midfield. Tyler will be there to lock down the middle but Gio/Tillman will be pushing forward along with Weston/LDLT/Cardosa. Maybe we move Dest up front but shifting our LB/RB to largely defensive is key to moving forward. Move Dest to the middle or maybe a wing.

Check Berhalter's record against Non-CONCACAF opponents? Pathetic. We consistently play weak competition. Then check who we played in the Klinnsmann years.

Tac I don't think you were wrong on Haji Wright, he has just really grown and progressed as a player. He has a technical ability and finesse he didn't have enough

Idk how Gregg doesn’t get it! We score mostly thru the middle, yes use the wight to create to keep it diverse. This whole go to the wing and cross , cross, cross makes us predictable, easy to defend and vulnerable for a counter attack!🤦🏻‍♂️ we score our best goals when our players use their creativity! Gregg please resign and stop holding our team back!!!! 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think Greg put Adams in hoping to win the match at FT, but once the match went into OT he opted to pull him out so as not to put too many minutes on him coming back from injury but he should have realized that draw was more likely and just put Johnny in to begin with.

I said before We will win 3-1 at least and we won the game 3-1 and reached the final.

I think Tillman starting was the right call at the time. But Gio has now garnered Pulisic type stats where it doesn't matter what is going on for his club.

Lessons: 1. Balogun is not able to play the single Stiker 9…on the usmnt… I’d love to see Pepi Balogun Wright And Sargent all playing at once just to see how it goes… bet Balogun will play better 2. Gio should start next match, but just to see his fitness… not because he is leagues above (definitely best soccer IQ) 3. GGG- starting lineup… horrible… subs and desperate attacking tactics (open expressiveness.. much better) players deserved the win… GGG did not 4. Haji, Pulisic, and Pepi should start against Mexico. 5. Johnny, McKennie, and Gio need to play midfield 6. Richards, Miles, Dest, and A-Rob

I think what WE Jamaica showed is that we are building depth. Cephas did well for example but should have FINISHED and so what we were missing were the goalscorers.

GGG got out coached. Period. Mexico should come with a low block also.

Also I think that Tillman and other midfielders/ forwards should start against certain teams to have them build confidence

What we learned was what we already knew.... 1) GGG's tactics are robotic, predictable, and are set in stone. He does not very anything...regardless of who's available or who we play against. 2) USSF will not fire GGG regardless of how we play, wins or losses. 3) Gio needs to be in the starting XI. Tillman is a capable back-up, but shouldn't be the starter. 4) We still need upgrades & depth at CB and GK. 5) Until our federation takes the coaching position seriously this team/country will not progress. A good International Coach doesn't require a massive name (Pep), it takes someone who'll put our best players in position to succeed and get the most out of our talent.

I think it's hard to say that this game was any predictor of how we would play against Mexico or Uruguay come Copa - because neither of those teams will be sitting back as much as this Jamaica team did. And yes, Jamaica was missing a lot of good players, but if they had those players, they probably wouldn't have been playing in such a low block

The reason we suck when they are playing well with clubs is that they are all supporting roles for their clubs. Outside of maybe Tillman and McKinney (just recently). Pulisic has scored some goals but against weaker Serie A competition. We don’t have enough players who are great on their own and not supporting cast

I don't speak for all Tillman evangelists, but I'm really high on him and wanted him to play half of the Jamaica game not because I have no faith in Gio, but because I think Tillman has obviously taken some huge steps forward with his game recently, and I wanted to see how that progress would translate to the national team. I also felt like he matched up well against this Jamaica defense. Same goes for Haji and (if he were here) Sargent. They've all added major elements to their game this year and I think it's important to see what they can bring. I also think it's important to see what talented 'benched' players like Gio and Turner can bring, hence giving Gio a half to work with. I honestly didn't care who started and who came off the bench as long as they both got a chance to show what they can offer.

Are we getting to the point that the striker position is deep enough and strong enough but in different archetypes that we can start playing matchup based? We have 4+ good strikers that play differently and depending on how we matchup to certain opponents, we should have a different striker. Wanna focus on wingers with hold up play, pressing, and poaching? Sargent or Pepi. Want to play in transition and feed areas behind a high line? Balogun or Haji. We can just keep playing Balo into a low block as a lone striker - it’s not his play style. And we’ve got enough good strikers to match up as needed. If only Gregg would change up tactics when he needs to…

He takes on such a big role on the usmnt, even drops back to our goal to receive the ball and dribble forward (like some elementary school level stuff).. I assume that’s Gregg? Why pulisic taking all the corners? Why does pulisic take corners over Reyna? Why is Tillman taking free kicks over Reyna?

For the COPA America, both Bolivia and Panama can play the bunker against us. We've seen how we have done against that under GGG. But the good thing is if we don't get out of the group I think USSF would fire GGG.

Genuine warmth...but does cloud his managerial skills! 2) Jamaica can join USA, Canada & Mexico sooner than later...if they cut out the off field drama and hone their defensive/offensive axis professionally, passionately, humbly & with focus. 3) H Wright looked quite the finisher! USA forward stocks are looking good.

I think folks are way to harsh on Pulisic and way to fan boy. He is very very good obviously, but when others are involved he will do better. Reyna doing well can allow him to be a new style of player. We can't rely on him soooo much.

I've been watching all of the PSV games this year and Dest has been playing well defensively, especially lately. And he's also been light's out on the offensive end of the ball. Dest is our starter by miles. And...by...miles...I'm talking about the distance, miles. Not Miles Robinson. Because...you know...that's a different player. Like my Tac joke??? 😂

The fellas waited until the very last min to tie the match, then went on to win but I was really nervous. I was a Haji hater until I started watching what he's been doing for Coventry City, he has been tearing shit up in the Championship and he needs to either start or play that super sub role.

I learned that this team and system has a huge problem with dynamic movement in the final 3rd. Not really new because everyone knows we struggle to break down a deep block, but anytime a playmaker had the ball at their feet most players were standing still. There was no intensity, dynamics, or creativity until Gio and Haji came on.

Gios probably #3 in terms on current playing ability for the USMNT behind only Pulisic and Mckennie. His club situation just sucks. Hope he moves to Florentina.

Ngl, I was one of the ppl that wanted tillman to start over reyna. I still think he deseved to get a start after his club form but reyna proved to be a difference maker. I think its really concerning that we are so reliant on one individual to create for us. Mind boggling that some of these guys can perform so well for their clubs, but have no ability to break down a low block from a jamaica B team. How many games of Berhalter ball do we have to endure before a change is made? Every game with him plays out exactly the same.
