@kenyattaclay7666
@kenyattaclay7666 2 года назад
Utah joined the PAC 12 like 5 minutes ago so what tradition are you talking about. If what happens that is reported to be happening with Cal, Oregon, Stanford & Washington also joining the B1G then most of that tradition stays together.
@Mike-sp7zv

The B10 wants Utah along with Oregon & Washington. The B10 championship game will become the rose bowl where there's a Pac12 west and a B10 east division.
@kenyattaclay7666
@kenyattaclay7666 2 года назад
@@Mike-sp7zv they don’t want Utah because Utah doesn’t offer them much in the TV deal they are negotiating. Theo ONLY reason why they took in Rutgers & Maryland is because they bring the #1 & #7 TV markets. LA brings the #2 market. They would want Washington because they are in Seattle the #14 market & they would also want Stanford & Cal because they bring in the Bay Area market which is #6 and maybe Colorado because they can bring Denver which is #17. The B1G desperately wants ND also because even though they already have NW for Chicago the dirty little secret is that ND really controls the Chicago market. Salt Lake City is the 34th market & they don’t offer any sort of recruiting to speak of so Utah’s best hope is that they can go to the Big 12.
@Mike-sp7zv
@Mike-sp7zv 2 года назад
@@kenyattaclay7666 We know the B10 wants Washington, Oregon, and ND. Colorado fits better with the Big12. Stanford ok. But do people in ny care about Maryland and Rutgers just because they're located in those markets? The B10 added Maryland and Rutgers back when ND and Texas were doing their own thing like the longhorn network. That era is gone. It's about brands today, and teams like Maryland, Rutgers, and Cal don't have that strong of a brand. Utah has that brand today and had it when Urban Meyer coached there.
@kenyattaclay7666
@kenyattaclay7666 2 года назад
@martini stirred not in football. Sure they are a good school but as fare as the B1G is concerned they want schools that have at least one of those three things: history, recruiting or TV market. @David MontgomeryYou completely missed his point as are a huge majority of people championing this news. College football's attraction is everything the NFL left behind - tradition, rivalry, regional styles and historic trophy games. And like most modern business models, 'market dynamics' (the true driver of this decision) never factor in externalities that reveal the true source of value. So once again, we have left brain thinking robots driving world culture for profit with little regard for everything that created the value to begin with. And of course, no one even mentions the fact that student athletes go to school at institutions that are supposed to be providing an education - first and foremost.

Eliminate the difference and you also remove the value.

Pac 12 is done. Who could they possibly add to balance out the loss of the LA market? They were already struggling with it. I think I saw that the SEC makes around 115-20M a year. The B10 is also over 100M and the other three power 5 conferences combined for like 70-75M. That was with USC and UCLA. This will only make the gap larger.

The closest Road Trip for USC and their fans is beautiful Lincoln, Nebraska. Going from West Coast Time to Central too is also no fun. If anything the more scholastic orinted schools would probably leave voluntarily to something simliar to the SAC than have promotion and regulation in CFB. I don't have a dog in this fight, (I'm a Shockers fan), but programs like mine will soon find themselves really, really struggling. We don't get the TV revenue and we don't have the large donor base that can contribute millions in donations to the athletic department or fund exorbitant NIL accounts to attract upper tier talent and the transfer portal allows mid-major players to easily jump to greener pastures. You will rarely see Cinderella stories now in basketball or football which is too bad.

Colorado would make a great 18th member after ND joins to give B1G a large market (Denver metro), springboard to the West Coast, and Nebraska a natural, regional “rival” (in a very loose sense of the word). If I were the SEC, I would worry about B1G then going out and get UNC, Duke, Kansas, and Mizzou (yes, SEC’s Mizzou!) just to geographically box in the SEC. Kansas may not bring much in terms of gridiron success or market access but imagine turning all those Jayhawks basketball fans across the country into B1G football junkies.

This what you get when people of authority don't see reality the way it is. Most of the football talent in SEC country, most of the national population is in B1G country. SEC has all the leverage, B1G has all the money. When the commish of the other conferences deny SEC then all their conferences flop or move to match. Could have been a 12 team playoff but the conferences without leverage thought they had power but can't see reality.

ND & March Madness will keep the NCAA intact, unless the university presidents & ADs create a new governing body. Not enough votes among DI schools to dissolve the NCAA cuz I'm pretty sure it takes a simple majority to do it & there's over 300+ schools that can participate in March Madness & the smaller schools ain't giving up that money so the biggest schools can make even more than they already do.
