Marty completely mischaracterized the very end of the Paterno era. Great seasons in 2005, 2008, 2009 and only 1 loss in 2011 before the fiasco. Saying a bunch of 8-4 seasons is complete nonsense. Yes there were the bad seasons from 2000-2004 but that got turned around.
2011 Paterno's squad was 7 and 6, then the wheels came off. Having said that except for the years you pick which Franklin routinely delivers at 11 and 2, 9 and 4 were the norm for Paterno
@@panosalexakos4877Winning percentage as PSU head coach .. Paterno 75% and Franklin 69%. Oh and Paterno was 8-1 in 2011 when he got fired. My only point was that Paterno finished pretty strong after the down years from 2000-2004.
I agree, he has no idea how great Paterno teams still were!!! Shit, 2005 team was 1 second from being undefeated!!! Sad thing is, even if we would have won that game, we would have been screwed again, because the voters and media wanted to see the cheaters USC and Vince Young and Texas!!! WE ARE
Joe Pa also coached for 45 years plus, which is harder to keep a insanely great record, which by the way he averaged barely under 10 wins a year and is the Winningest coach in history, enough said!!!
@@kevinchandler179he also played no one for a while. Most of those independent schools were booty. Look at our undefeated seasons. We played like maybe 1 ranked team in most of them. Some seasons were brutal and sometimes we did really well. Don’t get me wrong. But I think what Marty here is trying to say is that JoePa coached for how many years, and only had a handful of wonderful seasons. We’re not Ohio state or Michigan. We’re not Alabama or USC. We will have our years of greatness. But until state college becomes a major city, with major funding, a major airport and highways and things to do, or we get a Nick Saban level of legendary coaching, we’re not going to win like those teams do.
Marty lead killed it in this interview, he nailed everything. Some fans think we should be a perennial national title contender when we never really have been. Franklin is doing a great job. He also nailed the offense and discussion. Same goes for the leadership and the wider room that was definitely the main issue last year, Keandre Lambert Smith had an attitude problem and there were rumors that the wide receiver room as a whole did not work hard didn’t know the playbook and never really showed up as much as they should have.
That's hilarious and actually bullshit!!! Out of 115 plus division 1 programs, only 1 gets to hoist the trophy 🏆 and win it all, so do some math and figure out the percentage??? Yes, WE ARE still a perennial national title contender!!! There are 100 college football programs who would kill to be us in Happy Valley!!!! WE ARE
kevinchandler179 Nah I doubt anyone wants to be like penn st who can't beat anyone and hasn't won shit since the 80s. 😂😂😂😂😂. Nobody wants to be irrelevant
