Literally bought the Nikon to Fuji Fringer adapter 3 days ago for my Sigma 150-600mm lens. It has been stellar so far with my testing. Got it second hand on eBay for $185!

Thanks, Chris.I had the Fringer Pro adaptor when I first started my switch from Canon to Fuji. I got the XT-3 and sold my Canon 5D4 and kept some of my Canon lenses and it worked just fine for me. Over the course of the first year of using the XT-3 I ended up selling the Fringer and Canon lenses and going totally Fuji. I've never looked back. have a great weekend!

I switched from Nikon to Fuji earlier this year, and this adapter was one of the first things I bought to use my old lenses. If they're on the compatibility list, and especially if they're name brand Nikon lenses, they work great. Anything not on the list doesn't work at all, but that's not unexpected. Both Nikon and Canon have some really great and cheap lenses that can fill a lot of gaps for Fuji users, so this thing is great.

Some Lenses i recommend using with the Fringer EF-FX Pro 2 Adapter are the Canon 50mm 1.8 STM, the Canon EF 10-18mm 4.5-5.6 STM and the Canon 55-250 STM 4.0-5.6. I although tried using Macro-Adapters with it and it works. The Fringer EF-FX Pro 2 is a realy nice Adapter and worth every penny if you have Canon Lenses left.

This is exactly the information I have been looking for. I have a couple EF-L lenses which will work with the Fringer. The Viltrox appears to be a disappointment and definitely not worth losing light even at a discount price. The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.

I have the standard version of the fringer EF-FX mount adapter It doesn't have an aperture ring, but it's $100 cheaper than the pro version. I use it on my XT4 with a sigma 150-600 C. While I would like to have the aperture ring, I don't find it all that inconvenient to change the aperture with the front dial on the camera.

I shoot jazz concerts with a Nikon 70-200 f2.8 and wildlife (mostly birds) with a Nikon-mount Sigma 150-600. I've adapted them to my X-T3 with the Fringer NF-FX, and it's a total game-changer. My D7100 is collecting dust and might just get sold to make way for a new Fuji body. Pro tip (sort of): The NF-FX adapter has a "projection" on its underside. (If you have one, you know what I mean.) If you use the vertical grip, as I do, take it off before you remove the Fringer. At first I tried to remove the adapter without taking off the grip, and I'm very lucky I didn't damage anything.

With the insane price of Fuji's native long telephoto lenses, the fringer is basically the best option for shooting wildlife on Fuji. I recently got a sigma 150-600 + the fringer pro 2 adapter for about £550, compared to almost £2k for fuji's 150-600!

Also tried the Fringer with Canon. Worked great (as well as on the Canon DSLR). However, it does add some bulk. I ended up deciding to return the adapter, sell the Canon lenses (fav were the stabilized 50mm prime and 50-250mm zoom), and spend a bit extra for the better quality and less bulk/hassle of using quality mid tier Fuji zooms and great primes. Currently loving the 70-300mm zoom and the 23mmF2 prime the most, but also have a few others. So far only Fuji I’ve been disappointed with is the old 27mm pancake. Love the look but it’s relatively slow and noisy to autofocus. I’d take my 23mmF2 primes over it any day, little bigger but quiet, fast, and all it’s movement is internal.

Ive been using a Fringer adaptor to mount my F mount lenses on my XS10. It generally tends to work quite well, with one or two exceptions. Autofocus is definately a bit slower and I have one Tamron F mount that really struggles with autofocus when mounted to the Fuji via the adaptor, but for the most part it tends to be a good little piece of kit.

i use my XT4 and now XH2s with the fringer and Nikon 500 f5.6 pf lens for wildlife. few minor issues, if the VR is on then the image review is delayed for some reason. Switch it of and it is instant, the EVF is not as bright but works perfectly. The Focus speed and accuracy is as good as my Fuji 100-400. I have used it on the Nikon 300 f2.8 VRii, one of the sharpest lenses on the market and it is mind blowing. It is heavy, but the 300 f2.8 with TC 1.4 from Nikon was my main wildlife lens for many years when I used Nikon big bodies like the D3s, D4, D5 and D810 and D850. it gives my a 630mm f4 lens on the Fuji body. Yes it is 3,2 kg with the XH2s with Battery grip, but the image quality is worth every bit. the 500 pf f5.6 is the same weight as the Fuji 100-400, so here is my question, why can Fuji not produce a 400 f5.6 prime lens. Nikon produced a 400 f4.5 lens the size and weight of the 100-400, the 300 f4 pf lens that weigh less than the 50-140 f2.8

Hi! I do have a 300mm as well. How do you like it on xh2s, the eye focus work well? I am thinking to get the xh2 for more resolution, but the stacked sensor in xh2s is a good idea as well:( otherwise, i think the only option to used my 300mm is to get the z9 for the best performance than z7ii, z6ii.

I had the Canon version, but sold it. I had issues with Continuous AF with the Tamron and Sigma 150-600s on an X-T3. Single shot AF was fine, maybe a tiny bit slower than the Fuji 100-400 with t/c (and you'd really have to nitpick), but continuous was unusable. Any other glass I tried was fine with no issues at all. Just the long stuff in continuous (which for what I shoot was a problem). Hopefully others can provide better experience history.

I bought both used Viltrox EF-FX1 ($60) and used Viltrox EF-FX2 Speedbooster ($100) for my XT3 (). They are focussing well although not as perfect as Fringer. What I found is that we need to be a bit patient as the Viltrox adapters take more time than the native lens in focussing. Viltrox does better on EF than EFS lense, and even better with the Canon L-series. The image quality for stills are perfect. Not yet try to update the available firmware; I wish the firmware correct the autofocusing. Hope this information useful for Fujifilm lovers who needs less pricey Fringer. Thank you Chris, you make every one loves Fujifilm more and more.

I bought one and returned it. I was hoping to get some options for wildlife lenses so I rented the Canon 100-400, 70-200 and a Sigma 500mm f/4. Over 2000 photos in a test matrix over 3 days. With stationary subjects below 100mm it was fine. A little hunting - but useable. Over 100mm and especially with moving subjects it was utter garbage. Hit rates for BiF dropped from 85% with the Fuji 100-400 to less than 60% with the adapted glass. Ultimately giving up on Fuji after trying this adapter and then hoping the new super zoom would be decent (or that they would produce a 400 f/4 with the optical refinement of the 200 f/2). I wish I had your results as there is so much to love about Fuji - but different use cases I guess yield different results. Thanks for the channel BTW. Love the enthusiasm. I still have my GFX 100s and 50s so I will keep tuning in.

I have several nice EF and EF-S lenses that I use with my beater camera, the Cannon SL3/250D. I think the Fringer is a great way to expand my limited Fuji lens library for not a lot of money. Fringer Pro II adapter it was my first "Fujinon" lens, coming from Canon I noticed that at that time 2019 there was many problems to focus correctly but after 3 years working with that adapter I just can say, it is the best adapter ever made, one of the most important things it is the aperture ring and they are constantly upgrading firmwares (Viltrox it doesn't). So, if my Canon EF 85mm f:1.2L (mark I) it did not worked correctly in 2019 December (no Ibis in my X-H1) and no way to focus in a Sunny Day, in 2022 February they put a firmware upgrade that changed everything, fast AF-C and accurate, even at f:1.2 and Ibis working, that combo it is great in a X-H1 or in a X-H2. Then I got great results using Tamron 100-400mm VC and 70-210mm f:4 VC. Sigma and Tamron works great with this adapter, so I tested the Sigma 8-16mm, the 10-20mm f:3.5 EX DC and the 17-50mm 2.8 OS, the first one not bad, a great option to a Fujinon 8-16mm 2.8, the second one not bad but optically the Fujinon 10-24mm OIS it is way better and the third one it working better than the other ones. But finally I sold it to buy Fujinon lenses. Right now I am just using my 85L and the Sigma 100-400 but during that time I was buying Fujinon lenses, smaller and probably I am going to sell everything to be just a XF user without adapters even if there are some lenses that they are not still available in the Fujifilm ecosystem, like a 70-200mm 2.8 (I prefer that reach to the 50-140 one) or a 70-200mm f:4 or a 135mm f:2 (or similar), not sure to sell that great adapter, because one of the big things of using Canon EF mount lenses it is the fact that you can use it in a GFX 100s with similar results with the GFX-EF adapter made by Fringer too. So, in my opinion if you are using big XF cameras like X-H2 (and X-H1) or others, that Fringer adapter it is great, the best option ever.

Thanks for the update on these adapters. It's worth pointing out that all of these adapters have firmware that can be updated. I was only able to get the Viltrox adapter locally and have found that new(er) firmware has significantly improved the performance of my lens, which is a very old Sigma AF 400mm f5.6 which is not on either manufacturers supported list. At this point, I'd rather save the AU500 price tag of replacing my Viltrox adapter for the purchase of a new(er) lens.

The weak point of the Fringer is that it does not support ibis well. For Canon lenses with OIS, it turns off ibis and defers to the lens, which is OK, but it won't allow ibis with Canon lenses that don't have IS, such as my old 70-210. It also won't allow ibis with totally manual (no electrical contacts) lenses.

Wish I could've retained my Nikon version (had to sell it with my old Nikon Body) but the AF Adapter is as expensive as a used earlier Fujifilm body, my only complain about it was the size and weight when you put it onto a Fujifilm body (I tried a dumb manual adapter for it while putting a piece of paper to open up the aperture lever on Nikon Mount)

I have the EF-FX Pro 2, I got it mainly because of cost. I realised that I could get the adapter with the Canon EFS 10-18 STM, (used) for way cheaper than the Fujifilm 10-18 alone, and it gave me access to look out for any bargain used Canon lenses, I also have the Canon EFs 24mm STM, Canon EF-s 18-135mm & Canon 85mm f1.8 now. They feel the same as using the native fuji lenses (18-55, 55-200mm). Then Fringer eventually brought out the Nikon adapter NF-FX for AF-S lenses, so I got that to use with my old Nikon Af-S 35mm Nikkor 1.8, 50mm f1.4 and 70-300mm lenses. You forgot to mention they update the firmware on the adapters from time to time, for free, which is a simple as connecting the usb cable and dragging the updated file to the adapter from your PC.

I wish micro four thirds also had a proper adapter like Fringer that actually worked in C-AF, neither Metabones nor Viltrox actually supports PDAF which is, frustrating.

I got rid of my pro Nikon lenses but still have a few lower end Nikon lenses around from when I switched over to Fuji. Unlike the Canon adapter, the Fringer NF-FX Nikon adapter looks bulky with that extension on the bottom and seems like it would affect your handling. I must say this though, I have a Nikon adapter from K&F Concept. It's only manual focus and currently costs around $30. It seems to me that even the lower end Nikon lenses I kept around render sharper and more contrasty photos than the more expensive native Fuji lenses I have.

I wish we had that Fringer X-Mount here in Africa that would be very handy for it's easy to hire Canon glass for Fuji cameras than to get Fuji lenses.

Thanks, Chris, for awesome and fast review of the Fringer & Viltrox Since last 1 year I'm using viltrox adapter trying on native canon 18-135 and some Samyang lanes but it fails to auto focus. Fringer looks promising n will try. Thanks again

From my experience the Viltrox adapter doesn't work well with STM lenses, it works better on lenses with USM motors. Couldn't find a Fringer pro adapter in my country, so I had to deal with Viltrox's unreliability. It still gets the job done btw.

Worth any penny. With the 2.20 firmware the EF 200mm f/1.8 works as good as on any Canon camera.

Converting to Fuji after many years of Canon use. New lenses cost more than my hobby is worth. I am looking at the X-H2 to replace an old Canon.

I used this adapter a few years ago with canon lenses on my Fuji camera but the autofocus was below average it was okish on single point but still missed on occasions and it’s not worth the headache and best to use Fuji lenses

I saw someone hacked both Viltrox (Speedbooster) + Fringer Pro II adapter , you'd have the best of both world. Not sure if the lens focal length will affect the stabilization thou.

VERY interesting....because, I have the Sigma Art 18-35 and the Sigma Art 50-100. Do you think the 50-100 ist also a good choise for the Fuji??? The combination with the X-H2 must be GREAT. Ok -- but -- now I need 2500€ for this fun 🙄

You mentioned that you can also get a Fringer to adapt with Nikon… Have you tried that and if so, does it work as well as the canon adaptor on Fuji?

I purchased a fuji xt3 a few years ago and I've never used it , I'm new to photography so this is my first camera . Im wanting to film wildlife , Deer ,elk , coyotes etc as well as eagles while floating down the rivers around here. Would I be better off with the Fuji 100-400 or should I grab this adapter and that new Nikon lens . I believe its a 160 -600 Any thoughts would be appreciated

Honestly. Adapters will go a long way Since fuji is so dam picky to where it ships. We rarely get glass in my country and emails go unanswered for months. I asked the local camara shop to inquire about 70-300mm 6 months ago and so far no response. They brought the previews zoom but those were supar (lower range no weather sealing) so i am stuck.

Thank you for this review. I am using Fringer with Nikon Prime lenses and I do not know why, but I find the colour, contrast amd overall some softness when using these lenses on fuji with Fringer adaptor. Used Nikon 85 1.4, 50 1.2, 300 F4. any idea why colours are not as good as with fuji lenses and why the pictures look soft? thank you

that is interesting to hear, i hope you manage to fix that issue. my nikon glass works well (17-55 , both of my copies are sharp when autofocus is in AF C or AF s) i also have the 12-24mm f4 and 14-24 f2.8

I tried the Fringer NF-FX (ie., Nikon to Fuji) adapter, but had poor results. I tried both my 80-400 AF-S G lens and 300mm f4 PF lens and had significant issues. AF was quite slow and hunted a lot, and for some reason my X-T3 became very sluggish. It took over a second to get the back LCD screen to operate (image review, or menu diving), and using the LCD screen was slow in general. Everything was up to date, firmware wise, and lenses and body were clean. No clue what the issue was. Did I get a bad copy? It'd be great if a review of the Nikon Fringer adapter could be made; I'd be curious, and I'm sure others would be too, if it works as well as the canon version. *edit typos
