Used car prices are beginning to fall which thankfully means there's some great deals on the used car market again. But there's also some hidden gems, really nice cars that have depreciated abnormally fast and are great used values. Two such cars are the Alfa Romeo Giulia and Alfa Romeo Stelvio. In this video I discuss prices for these cars and why the Alfa Romeos are a hidden gem. Do you agree? Let me know if there's any other hidden gems on the used car market that I should highlight!

I bought my 2018 giulia ti sport Q2 with 32k miles for 26k 5 months ago. I checked prices for similar models and already seeing some for 24k. Probably should have waited a bit, but they totaled my car and was carless since January when I bought it. current alfa giulia 2.0 RWD owner. yes the dealers are few and far between depending on your location which can be an issue. My car has 65k miles with very few issues aside from wear tear items. No, it's not a honda product buy and forget, i agree; but if you're looking for a car like this the driving experience is not something you can get from a japanese brand at anywhere near this price point. Something most people might not know, the extended warranty is fairly inexpensive since Alfa is under stellantis, you can buy an official MOPAR warranty valid at any alfa dealer nationwide for not that much. Mine was around $2k for maxcare mopar coverage until about 100k miles or 3 years from date of purchase.

The car is amazing! I loved it more than anything I've owned and even driven as an employee of a dealership afforded with the ability to drive a lot of cool stuff. However, you HAVE to have the Alfa serviced at the dealer if you need anything outside of basic maintenance items. I had a ton of CEL's and most certainly an issue with multi-air. However, these issues were intermittent. I had diagnostics from multiple Alfa dealers but they wouldn't diagnose without trying to sell me on other things like injector cleaning.... At 35k miles. On a car that only runs premium top-tier fuel... I got a diagnostic from an independent European shop confirming issues with the multi-air and further diagnostics showing misfire codes on an oil change at a CDJR dealer. A call into Alfa corporate led to a lot of back and forth and essentially telling me I need to bring the car to an Alfa dealer that's over a hundred miles away during an active misfire for a rediagnosis and the former diagnostics from the indie shop and the CDJR dealer wouldn't account for anything. However there's a kicker, there's only ONE technician at the dealership that works on Alfas.... So I was looking at waiting months just to get the car looked at and more time weeks to months for parts and labor to be completed. GREAT cars. TERRIBLE support from the brand and the parent company Stellantis. ONLY buy this car if you live near a dealership with more than one tech. There's no logical reason why CDJR techs can't work on these cars with training. Stellanits just doesn't care. I miss my car and its only been a few weeks since I traded it.

After owning several Alfas over 4.5 years these are some of the best driving cars for the money. The Qv are 4 door Ferrari in ever aspect of quirks, sound, feel and front end feel however when these cars break no warranty will save anyone from the incompetence of the dealers, technicians and FCA who offer zero support. They break the cars further almost seems like sabotage. My 2018 QV suffered water damage due to a leaking cowl which is a known problem and the car was never the same, stuck weekly, lived on a flatbed all to often and never got a loaner car. Dealers kept my car weeks and up to 3 months doing repairs only to be picked up and towed back hours later. I had to buy OBD Alfa specific diagnostics to scan car every cold or rainy day and almost got killed Least 50 times having the car shut off on highway speeds. As much as I loved the car I simply could not take the stress and fear owning the car and traded it on a new M3. Funny part of the story is the BMW dealer wholesaled my Alfa to one of the incompetent Alfa dealers who serviced the car. The Alfa GM called me to ask if the car they bought was mine and when I said yes they immediately removed it from their website and said they would not retail my car due to liability. They are special cars but the lack of factory support and some of the worst dealers in the world are destroying this legendary brand. Also those extended warranty from Mopar are not cheap and every time you use the warranty there is a $200 or greater deductible that must be paid. Even though I went through hell i still may consider another in the future but not to daily drive. i receive emails every single day if other frustrated Alfa owners complaining and switching brands just for service issues, i do not see Alfa Romeo having a lasting future in the USA much longer.

I had a 2017 Giulia and it was Disaster and I love European cars. Had key reading issues, rapid tire wear, several check engine lights, brake wrapping rotors. Total breakdown and was in rental for months till lease ended. Such a nice driving and best looking car I have owned. Maybe the later models are better but beware that you cannot diy this car as the scanners don’t work on them past 2019 model year.

'17 Ti, 62K nothing other than gas, oil, and a spark plug change. The 2.0l is similar to the 4-cyl. in 400,000 Jeeps sold every year. When I did the spark plug change, I called a Dodge dealer and got them for $12 each. You have to use really good oil (Mobil 1 ESP, or Pennzoil Euro LX), but the filter is cheap and its easy to do the service yourself. The trans is ZF---best in the world. All that "Italian cars are "unreliable" is FUD from the 1970s.

Yeah a lot of money considering current pricing but I also got 18K for a trade in that I most likely would only get 14 -15K in current environment. So it kinda breaks even? Guy I dont know your background, but the GIULIA has been bulleet proof...probably the best ABSOLUTELY new car build in the last 40 years. FORD, GM, BMW. AUDI MAZDA and HONDA have all major engineering issues with their new cars....from OIL BURNING MONSTERS to exploding engines and trannys! Ive had a 2017 GIULIA TI Q4 with 65000 miles and I beat the shit out of it and just keeps saying GIMME MORE! bullet proof and I average 33MPG on the highway for trips over 350 miles! anyway, the less people know the better...the brand will survive and has survived with or without AMERICAN support... the less the bettter and that makes it more exclusive! plus they have the lowest operating costs of anything in its class...I still am on my original BREMBO brakes! try that with a BMW, FORD, GM or AUDI!

Right, I mentioned before, these vehicles have quality control issues with weak drive trains. Some people have had semi-decent experiences, but if you look at the overall vehicle ratings itself through consumer reports and vehicle complaints, there’s quite a few of them that follows a trajectory with this specific brand. Looks can be deceiving, given that this is a unique looking car, but it just leaves a lot to be desired when you don’t have an extended warranty and paying out of pocket for a semi sub-par junky drivetrain. Hard pass.
