I was commissioned to remake a number of N.E.R locomotive whistles for the Exhibition of the North in Newcastle. I am involved in re-manufacturing steam locomotive components so producing exact replicas of the original 1906 whistle was not problem and quite straight forward.
I have the prototype whistle that was used as the mold for the exhibition at home and wondered if I had any way of supplying enough air to power it up. Only thing to hand was the motorcycle (pet) dryer, few calculations later and here we go!
