Salicylic acid is better for acne because it's oil soluble so it can actually work inside the follicle. Salicylic acid comes from willow bark tree like aspirin is so it has those anti-inflammatory functions as well. AHA is okay but I think it's better post acne treatment.
The skin needs to be exfoliated since acne is caused by hair follicles known as pores clogged by oils and dead skin cells , excess oil production , bacteria and hormones and chemical exfoliants are a lot gentler than physical exfoliants since physical exfoliants take more layers of skin off and damage the layers underneath so AHAs are great to go into your acne skin care regimen it won't work for acne on it's own
Epictemptation7 Theoretically BHA works best for acne prone skin. But it really depends on how your skin react to certain acids. For me I have oily acne prone skin, but BHA doesn’t do much to my skin, in the end it just dries out my skin. So I started to go for glycolic exfoliant and my skin now is clearer and smoother. Most importantly it feels hydrated.
It depends on the individual. You're forgetting that that's just in theory, everyone's skin is always different. For me, BHA breaks me out even more cuz it heavily dries my super oily skin. However, AHA works like magic and truly exfoliates gently, making my acne die out and at the same time, smoothing my skin texture. Gotta go by trial and error.
His products are great but more fit for normal to dry skin. For example, the aha lotion is a little bit greasy and heavy to oily skin, and we prefer gel or liquid texture products, but this AHA one still be an Ok option when cold winter comes. I notice that you use phenoxyethanol in your products. I'm aware that it has become a very VERY popular replacement for parabens and as a sterilization agent. With that said I'm concerned if you use a content of below 0.6 percent only because my brother wants this line and despite my redirection he's insisted on this line. The regimen is working wonders on my skin which is amazing! However the only con is my under eye is becoming very dry and burns. What should I do? And what should I apply? I just have a few questions! If you have very dry skin, and since the bp can make your skin dried out and flaky, I was wondering about how long it would take until the dryness would go away? Also, I did see that on your website that younger people can use this (like teens) but is it okay for 12 or 13 year olds to? Is it too harsh for people of that age? When I first started, I immediately stopped exfoliating with a scrub based on the acne.org instructions. Recently though, I started very gently using an exfoliating scrub again (just a few times a week) and so far so good. I know I'm not strictly following the regimen but I'm being very careful. If I start breaking out again, I will stop! :)

I've been using the regimen for a month but I'm getting lots and lots of peeling even though I use the moisturizer. Would AHA help to stop the peeling of my skin? It still gets flaky too much. I just bought a face wash with 5% glycolic acid (the pixi glow mud cleanser) and after using it for 3 days I’m completely broken out. I don’t really break out often so I’m really concerned. I’ve never used any products with any AHAs or active ingredients so I don’t know if my skin just doesn’t like it, I’m using it too much, or my skin is purging. I used it about a total of about 5 times since I started (3 nights and 2 days). It didn’t break out my forehead and my nose feels better than it has in a long time. I’m just not sure if I should keep using it or not considering I have a bunch of little pimples along my chin and cheeks that kind of hurt. My skin has never looks or felt this bad (sans my nose lol) in my entire life. Thanks everyone!

Hi I did buy the acne.org skin care regime but i don't really have acne just the odd spots. But I have large pores. The routine was way to strong for my skin but I enjoyed using the cleanser but decided to stop that and just have a gentle routine now. Can I use my 10% Glycolic acid? Every 2 or 3 days a week before bed? Will it irritate my skin if I just use a thin layer. Ive been told to use Glycolic acid for my skin care routine to close pores and fade scars. But considering I already had 10% at home can I still use it with other products? Which are all for sensitive skin?

I'm one week in and I'm loving results. However, the dryness is here and strong. I'm willing to push through. It's just during the day between washes my skin gets real flaky, even with the oil. I can't use the AHA yet, so would you recommend me applying the moisturizer every few hours between washes, I'm scared it might be too much moisture and then break me out
Add alba botanica green tea moisturizer combined with clean and clear moisturizing gel for dryness. both can be found on amazon, combined it helped alot.
+Band of Misfits sound great but I don't want to try anything outside this system until I know these products work on my skin. I'm hoping if I just use the moisturizer throughout the day it won't clog my skin

I started using the aha + on my skin and it helped with taking dark spots but one thing stressing me out it has left very dark patches around my mouth area that seem like burns .I didn’t have them before I started aha + .what should I do ?I need advice is it normal !??????

Hi, im not sure if i've asked this already but, what color is the glycolic acid supposed to be? I opened up mines (it was sealed and everything) and it has the same yellow shade as the moisturizer. Is this normal? And is it okay to still use it on my face?

Hi Dan I've been on week 4 of the regimen. I follow the instructions very closely and I'm just not seeing the results I want. My skin gets so irritated and red and physically hurts. My skin feels like it's sunburned all the time and also I keep getting new pimples and some are not small. Any suggestions? I make sure to use a good amount of benzoyl peroxide now about a teaspoons worth twice a day

Absolutely. After one month into The Regimen, you may incorporate the AHA+. You may start with just a pea sized amount of the Acne.org AHA+ and apply it on your skin once a day, every 2-3 days. Just a quick question. I am using DUAC cream. Am I able to use glycolic acid along with it. My acne has cleared up due to DUAC. But I do have some red acne scarring. Your suggestions would be greatly appreciated. God bless. ✝️
