Weaving is something I've wanted to learn for a very long time. So I bought myself a 60 cm Rigid Heddle Loom from Ashford, and with the help of books and online tutorials, taught myself the basics of weaving. I am still learning and making a lot of mistakes. If you are a weaver yourself, you will probably notice some of them. But please be patient with me. Share any advice you think might help, enjoy the video and crochet, knit, or weave something beautiful! 😊❤️☀️

This was great! I cannot believe how you taught yourself all that! I love the shawls and the color palette you used.

This was so beautiful and informative without all the noisy chatter about how weaving on a heddle loom works.

Hello. I too love to weave .. I would like to give you some advice on how to fill the shuttle with thread. You should fill it on both long sides, always passing the thread behind the shuttle alternating sides. In this way the thread does not pile up in the central part of the shuttle. I hope to be helpful and clear. Hello and good luck.

🧶 I'm looking into buying a rigid-heddle loom so this was amazing to come across as I plan. Of course you'd need different sized heddle's for different weight yarns but it hadn't even occurred to me! Beautiful shawls, nicely done.

Beautiful shawls and I really enjoyed watching this gentle and calming video over breakfast ☕️. I’ve been weaving for years but have never woven anything on a rigid heddle loom. You’ve inspired me to look into getting one, thank you and happy weaving 🧶

I love this 🧶 I purchased a rigid heddle loom months ago and have been nervous about warping on and making a mistake. You made it look so easy and it was very calming with the music. Beautiful work!
@CrobyPatterns
@CrobyPatterns 3 года назад
Thank you so much! I was nervous too. But once you start, you see that it's not as hard as it seems. You just need to practice a bit. I did everything wrong my first time around, but all those mistakes taught me tricks and ways I use now all the time. 😄 I wish you all the best! 😊

Just watched this and your method of attaching your warping peg to the inside of a drawer is life-changing for me! I have had to ask my husband to bring in an extremely heavy tool bench for that.. which made it a major production and I haven't woven as much because of it. Now I will just open a drawer. I did have to order an Ashford peg, though... mine (Kromski & Schacht) aren't offset like the Ashford and I could tell there'd be a problem bumping into the clamp part with those. Anyway... thanks so much!!!

I have only just started with a rigid heddle myself, and was admiring your edges, you did a REALLY good job with them for your first and second attempts! My first one went okay and my second one was a longer piece, about seven foot, and although the edges came out reasonably well (not as good as yours) I gradually tapered about an inch/2.5cm out of the width by the time I had finished (remembered to keep measuring on the first one but forgot on the second one...), thought I had it under control but - nope! Anyway all good practice, and I am sure many people will be inspired by your efforts. We all love to have more things to do with our yarn, and weaving really showcases handwoven beautifully! Off to warp my loom again, getting all excited again!
@CrobyPatterns
@CrobyPatterns 2 года назад
Thank you! 🥰It is really one of the hardest things to accomplish. I recommend keeping the strands of yarn on both ends very tight. I use large pieces of cardboard for that. And it works wonderfully. Good luck with the edges! 😊

so beautiful!! I really want to learn to weave and this is super inspiring. If you don't mind my asking, how long did the loom set up and the weaving take? Thank you!! Couldn't find the yarn emoji, so here is a 🕸 instead. ( I am a yarn spinner).

Hi! 😊 It usually takes me 30 min to an hour to set the loom for weaving and then a week to finish the project as seen in the video. But one week of slow work, maybe 2 hours per day. 😊 I totally recommend it! 🥰 I am also a brand new at spinning. I just started not that long ago. But I am not that good at it. 🤪 I struggle a lot. Any tips? 😃🧶

My wife uses thin block out curtain fabric in stead of paper for her weaving. Said that is better. Long lasting. Easier to work with.
