Your demonstrations are very useful for learning water color techniques. In this particular video, you talk of temperature ( cool & warm ). If one knows while painting, how this is used as the artist works, it would have been a wholesome education for using temperature sans values.

Hello Liron 🙋 firstly please don’t think I’m being patronising or rude in any way. Your accent is strong so it’s clear that English is not your first language. However, the way you explain the process of your painting is SO clear and the words you choose and the way you use them is SO helpful. I’ve had many art teachers but none have been able to get the message across about how or why to apply paint in the way you do. I’m very appreciative of your videos. They’ve changed my approach and improved my artwork from both the sketching to the application of paint. Thank you very much 🙏 🙏 🙏

Amazing... I just love it when human figures are suggested in water color - I think it's THE most effective way to paint them (rather than trying to get a realistic portrait, for example). It's when you can capture the essence/feeling/action of what's going on in the scene, that the water colors speak to the viewer. Thanks for sharing your techniques. Gonna apply them next time I try figure painting!

Wonderful lesson Liron. I have been following you for a while now and very much appreciate your videos. I even emailed you recently with some questions/suggestions. In thinking about the power of simplicity in watercolor I came across an artist named David Rankin. You might want to check him out and hopefully feature his work in one of your videos. His work is stunning in it’s simplicity and yet so impactful. I aspire to be able to do that someday. Thanks for all your help.

Some of the photos I want to use are from my family collection--often old black and white. I don't want to paint them in b & w so suggestions on adding color? Also it seems that in most of them the lighting is quite diffused, not many well defined shadows. I would appreciate a video on adding more dramatic lighting to your painting when your refence is diffused. Thanks

That looks fun Liron. I think I'll try it, using colour temperature rather than tonal values. Interesting. One question. Can your course be viewed on an iPad once bought and downloaded?
@mpm6760

hi liron. thanks for this awesome tutorial. i m wondering if you painted flat or on an angle? so, using only mid tones and white of paper, i should see only 2 values if i squint? or does the mingling of colors create a neutral that reads as a dark value? 'cus i see darker values in the shorts of the 3 people. thats why im thinkn you worked at an angle. hope youre having a good time in the big apple. a well deserved vacation for you my friend.

Thanks Liron for this video-it looks good and fun to try. I am a beginner and had a look at your course. Is it possible for you to do a trailer/video on some examples of what you would be doing on the course to give me a better idea of what’s involved? I’m having trouble with using too much paint or too much water! I guess it’s practice. There’s not too many videos for beginners. Not everyone wants to paint peonies! (I’m useless at florals.) I’ll try this video as it seemed doable. Thanks!

Liron........When I saw you put down that red on the first arm I couldn’t believe how dark and intense it looked, but in the end it was perfect. Was that pure Pyrrole red or a combination? Also, the skin ‘shadows’......what colors did you use for them? Thanks
@LironYan
@LironYan 4 года назад
Haha see? It worked out! 😁 I believe it’s pretty much a pure pyrrol. The blending together makes it slightly less striking (which is good!)

Hi Liran, I'm interested in your frustrastion free watercolor course. What does it entail? I'm just learning. Have only been at it a year, and am working through a traumatic brain injury. Im using painting as therapy, but i absolutely love watching you paint. Hoping I can possibly learn to do your techniques from this course?? What do you think? Thanks, michelle
@LironYan
@LironYan 4 года назад
Thank you so much Michelle 😊🙏🏼 The FFW course is about a method for letting go, enjoying the process and getting the results you're interested in. I go at it using a process called F.A.S.P. - First - establishing Freedom - Second - Automating the process - making it less stressful and easier - Third is Skills - the actual techniques to practice in order to get watercolor to do what you want - Last is Process - how to tie it all together. You can watch this video to learn more about it: bit.ly/2mAaHihYT And I'll mention there's a 30 days money back guarantee, so nothing to loose if you give it a try (it's officially 30 days, but I pretty much refund any request haha). Let me know if you end up getting it ^_^

I don't think the lighting situation, while you paint, does your painting justice. I know you don't use any super intense colours but on the video they look just dark with no variation. I can see the colours well in the beginning and end of the video where you hold the painting next to your head. I struggled with this in my videos too, but it's good to have multiple light sources if your don't want to over-edit your video.

Liron I'm a bit wary of this whole 'temperature' concept, especially people who talk about 'a cool red' or 'a warm blue'. I know what they mean technically but what is the purpose of this classification? Fundamentally this analogy of temperature is about the perception that warm colours come forward and cool ones recede. However a violet blue does not come forward and a magenta red does not recede, so there is no point to classifying each primary as having cool and warm versions. Zbukvic does not do so. Andrew
