I had my neutron since 3 years with a a single patch cable connected to bypass the overdrive. Also the occasional lfo routings. I just ordered some extra cables after this tutorial. This guy is an absolute G.

This guy. 🤝 Wow. He's a real great guy taking the time to do all this. Only because of him who actually shows to get the synth to make sounds cause most reviews don't even bother with this step and assume everyone knows it. No I own this synth for a year and all it would do is drone the same pitch until I saw his video on it. Bless!! Now, to master part two 🧐

Thanks !!! That was the whole plan. Create a guide anyone can use and follow with ease. I've been teaching for 10+ years. Most people just record something without planning or structure. I plan this, wrote a script, started easy...the timeline of the video, the guide evolves on each section, I planned this. On RU-vid or pretty much anywhere, there are a lot o videos made by musicians....not teachers. Teaching or preparing material It's a skill and it takes time to get better at it. Anyhow, thanks man for the support, it really helps to keep going.

I’ve had the Neutron for a few years now(two of them, we’ll get back to that haha) and over all this time-mostly because I got distracted by straight up Modular before I learned all the elementary aspects of the Neutron, now I am returning to it, and realizing what a powerful and awesome machine it is by far the coolest thing Behringer has ever ever made, and unless they come out with the Proton(which I fully plan on buying two of those as well, and putting them in a SUPERSTACK self contained rack) will probably always remain the best thing a Behringer has ever made. So yes, I want to say I appreciate very much you making this video, and the first video as well, the Neutron was my gateway drug into Modular , as soon as I saw that patchbay, my life was changed for the better.. If I may make a request, of course, over the years, I’ve done experiments cross patching, both Neutrons. I would love to see you do a video with all the possibilities that that offers(there definitely are many possibilities as I have gotten some really freaky sounds out of cross patching them). Ok! VIVA LA NEUTRON! Let’s hope Behringer lays off the clones and in some cases THEFT and comes out with more designs, like the Proton, that can fully display what Behringer is capable of when they aren’t chasing trends, or making their money off of other peoples reputations. I think Behringer could have an amazing legacy. I’ve owned other Behringer re-issue synthesizers and none of them have come close to the pleasure that the neutron has brought me, it’s just elegant and crazy and a joy to unlock the puzzles within, I really think they should let their designers go wild and make their own mark on synthesis! OK, so yeah, if you get the time, I am ready to watch it, and share it with my fellow Neutron enthusiasts! Keep up the wonderful work, appreciate what you’re doing, NAI SAMMON

Good video, I learned a couple things, but at 29:43 you say both VCF outputs are the same, but they are not. The VCF2 always runs in a different filter mode from VCF1, so for instance when you have bandpass selected, VCF2 is low-pass, when you select low-pass, VCF2 is high-pass, etc.

Really passionate explanations :) Btw. You can also split the full video in shorter videos and the chapters being Parts as well as the one full video. Just an Idea :)
@XNBeatsMusic
@XNBeatsMusic 2 года назад
Thanks !! I've been teaching for years, so it's a skill you learn over time. Yes, this is not my first channel. I already had channels with +200k subs and buttons and all of that. The problem with splitting videos like that is that the first one, gets most of the views and the rest ones get forgotten sometimes. On top of that, you will need to to wait a few days to get the next chapter, which blocks your entire learning process. If this was udemy, skillshare or any of the learning platforms i would record in chapters for sure. But youtube penalizes the channel if you upload multiple videos the same day, and not only that, people get upset because they have a lot of your videos on their subs feed and start unsubscribing. So far this format, brings better results over time.

Thank you very much - really comprehensive! Is there a way to combine attenuators with a fixed offset within the Neutron itself? Can, for instance, Att2 be used to offset Att1 using the Sum function? Or in other words, when nothing is patched into Attenuator Inputs, can they provide CV based on pot position? Or is there another way to do so?

A trillion Thanks!!! You really help me find my way in that rabbit hole which I'm fallen into. :D I have a tech. question. At the end of the ATT 1/2 part when you are applying ATT 2 with the LFO to ATT1 CV. Why is it necessary to connect LFO to ATT2, Isn't it hardwired like that anyways? I tried the patch without the connection in question, just going direct from ATT2 OUT - ATT1 CV and I have heard no difference.

Hey! Great vid! Do you have a section about tuning this thing? For the life of me I cant seem to be able to tune it and the videos here are just not clear enough about how to do it. Even the manual isnt clear about if you get to use the app, the built in tuner or an iOS tuner app. Reddit have many people talking about tuning and most have issues but, could it be they are doing it wrong? And let's not even talk about opening it and messing with the pot inside lol. Also irrc, some firmware was about the osc tuning. Cheers!

Good video. I'm not understanding your section on Midi Gate Out. I can't hear what's different about the sound you are making before and after patching it in. You say at the end of the previous section that there's a problem concerning the envelope out patches but I am not clear what the problem is. You say something about it allowing you to use your envelope for other things, but it seemed like you were already doing that in the previous section! Can you help me understand?
@XNBeatsMusic
@XNBeatsMusic 2 года назад
Hello. Sure. So, behind the scenes the oscillators will play constantly, when you play a key what changes is the frecuency ( C, D, G# and so on ), so the sound is constant. So, there is something in the chain going up and down in volume when you play a key, like a piano for example, you play something the sound starts and ends at some point...synths, cannot do that because they are not plucking a string. So they need something to simulate this start and end of a note, that is the AMP envelope. Goes up and down in volume, it shapes how the sound goes out when you play a key. Cool, so....the envelope needs to know, when to start doing it's job, when to stop and if needs to sustain if you are holding a key. It needs something to starts doing something...that's the gate. The gate will start, trigger the envelope, if the gate sustains, the envelope will go to the sustain stage, if you stop playing a key the gate will close and the envelope will stop and go to the release stage. So a gate is an instruction of when something needs to start, sustain or stop.... The midi gate out lets you outsource that instruction, so you can use it on someplace else. If you are still confused watch this, it's about the grid , but the logic is the same. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7zae4wABJ3k.html

They are different. Crave shines because you have the sequencer and you can use it as a source. Neutron shines because you have two more than capable OSC's and the patching, perfect to pair it with something else. Pair neutron and Crave and you have something special there.

What modules are you guys pairing with your neutrons to get more mileage out of it?

It can work with anything really. I like to use it with the K2 & Crave , also the Minilogue XD. The XD has limited modulation capabilities but it has 2 VC inputs :)

I have a Minibrute 2, a Subharmonicon, a Plasma Drive, a Doepfer Ribbon Controller etc. Anything works. Sometimes I use the Neutron just as a convenient group of utility modules.

Depends on what you want to do. I use keywords to reach all audiencies,.....i cannot say -5 to +5 volts, or use a multimeter to show you how much is doing. It's a family show, providing too much information sometimes is bad.

Just out of curiosity: Are you Mexican? Because your English is very good and very fluent, but I can spot a certain Spanish accent (I have a personal theory of hispanic motherlanguagers inverting Bs and Vs, to say the less). And the funny skull from "la dia de los muertos" is a typical Mexican tradition. I could be wrong, but... I think you're Mexican! At least, in origins. Maybe a second or third generation immigrant. And I have nothing against being what we are: Just citizens of the world. But I'm so curious by nature. And, since I claim to have a culture JUST ABOVE THE AVERAGE, it would be a gratification for me to have understood that. I'm also an immigrant. I'm half German, half Italian. I know, I know - don't blame ME. Both sides of a goddamn coin of hell. We're still friends, right?
@XNBeatsMusic

Ohh !!!! Wrong !!! :) Not Mexican, not even close. I just like the style of "dia de los muertos", it's a great tradiition. I am not second nor third generation of nothing. I am part Spaniard, russky, Pole ( from poland ) and then a bit German, but who knows a this point. A super weird mix. Come one men !!! You shouldn't say you are above the average, you are allowed to think that, but saying it sound a bit ....you know, not modest. Don't use it like that. But, we do agree we are al citizens of this world. And German and Italians are not from hell !!! Have you ever been in Italy ?? They are loud, but nice, not from hell. People that create food like Italians are not from hell for sure, the coffee is fantastic. I cannot speak for Germany, the last time I went there people was very rude to me, maybe It was just my experience.

@@XNBeatsMusic I'm living in Italy, but I wish I never moved from Germany, because I feel kinda more German than Italian. Apart that.... In Italy there's 66% of my heart, if not more. I do not like them being so rumorous. But yes, many of them are nice. I'm NOT modest at all... : ) Of course it sounds like I'm superb, but I have the feeling that my knowledge and my awareness are on another level. But yes, I'm a man of people, not part of the elite. I'll never sell my soul for gold and richness. Well, maybe you weren't in contact with good Germans. In my experience (family, friends, and street people), they're open and friendly. Some react as you're shit, of course. Bu some want to give you all of them. Friendship, hospitality, jobs, ... everything. Still friends, right?

@@flourfree2K I am Argentinian. So I do know Italy, this country is half LATAM half Italian. Well, then if you are a man of people, you shouldn't not say you are above them. They don't like that. If it's true or not, it doesn't matter. What I mean, I will serve you a lot better not saying that, because you don't push people away, use it to your advantage. It is much better to have people on your side that against you. Then, how you feel inside, it's your concern. I meet a lot of people, and o course at some point I think I am better at something than them, but I don't say it. Because that person maybe is good at something that you are not, and if that person likes you, you have him/her on your side. For example, my father is a technological disabled man, I am far better than him at pretty much everything. But, he worked in construction and reads about History like a savage. In that case, I am the disabled one. If my father hates me because I am a "know it all", whenever I need help from him, I might not get it. So, it's better to be humble, even if it's fake, because it serves you better and people don't feel bad about it, it's a win win. I went to Berlin, had a rough couple of days, couldn't wait to get to the next country. I am pretty sure not all Germans are like the people I met there, that would be a stupid thing to say. And to be honest, I am not sure there are a lot of Germans in Berlin. I guess I will give it another chance to Germany someday.

@@XNBeatsMusic I'm above the average man in terms of culture, not in terms of being a superman. I mean, my English and my general culture are far above the average Italian (probably under the average German). I can also speak or understand some German (not too little!) and some Spanish too. Is it a mistake to have a better knowledge? And to be aware of that? This doesn't mean I'm Mr. Universe or a wrestling superstar, of course. Nor a famous actor or a great musician. I'm open to learning, that's why I love your great tutorials. So! I was right spotting a slight Spanish accent! : ) Still, your English is above the average Spanish motherlanguagers. And, yes, give Germans a chance. They are normally open-minded. Not just the bullies you've met (probably undergraduated and frustrated workers with a low education level which hate their job and have dominant wives). Try visiting Bonn, Düsseldorf and Köln. München is also a good city to be hosted in.

@@flourfree2K It's cool man, I was not criticizing. It was just an advice. I can do Spanish, English, Understand German, a bit Japanese and Chinese. I do this YT thing, produce, mix, do Software Engineering. I also teach and have over 80k students around the world. But you don't go saying that I am above the rest because you block them. People Fear or hate when people put themselves on top of them. If you set your mind as equals you are going to get a lot more from people, for teaching or just talking. Yo are not blocking them and they are not blocking you. I understand what you are saying. It was just an advice, just take it or leave it, no problem, we are cool :) And yeah, "frustrated workers" and "hate their job", yes it felt just like that. It felt like they were upset about or something. Next time if I go to Germany I will skip Berlin if possible, not going there again unless they are paying me to do something very specific. So far Netherlands was the best, kind, not arrogant, always with a smile, educated. Just the best of Europe so far, of all the places I've been. And well Italy is Italy, it felt like Home, remember I am Argentinian.
