Talking to you from the future, 3 years to be exact. ED has finally fixed this, we now have prebuilt templates of the SC and we select all units we want on a map and move them as one group. NOT! Three years later and its exactly the same cluster -F! This feels like it was programmed under Windows Vista -Oh Wait - it WAS! Thanks for giving us a work around.
a truly helpful tutorial to use the SC template, thanks. What's annoying is that you can't freely position the SC in the mission editor. When loading the static template, the SC with all AI is placed somewhere. It can only be moved in slow steps with great effort. Have you found a smart solution how to put the SC template exactly where you want it?
thanks, for your reply. Meanwhile I'm able to manage the free movement of the SC in the ME map without "pain": Zoom in with mouse wheel, click on the ship icon with left mouse button and hold this button, zoom out with mouse wheel and move the SC. But there is another issue. Your video shows that you are able to load a static template created in the CAU map into another map, e.g. Marianas, PG etc. That isn't possible here. When open EDIT and "load static template" the selection box is completely empty, nothing to load. There is not even a template shown under "description", as demonstrated in your video. This seems to be logic as the template has been created within the CAU map and is not meant to work in other maps, isn't it? But I wonder why it is working for you.
Definitely works. I was able to load the in memory static template into the Marianas, the Gulf and Syria. However some of the more 'landlocked' and smaller maps (Channel & Normandy) glitched. In other words the SC template couldn't be found on the map, but checking the units tab on the right hand side showed they were present.
Just stumbled on this, I'm glad you made this video. I will play around with this, not sure how to cut down on the flights so I can have a mission, do I simply delete half the ai aircraft, and I am guessing I have to do this on every map (except NTTR) to have the template ready to go.
Hey Harmer, thanks a lot for your vid. I really appreciate it. Just wAnt to ask you a little thing. When we start the mission using the template, is there a chance I may start from inside the hangar and then using the elevator to reach the flight deck? it would be amazing. What I really dont understand is why DCS let you start in the cockpit, while being a sim you should check the plane from the outside. DO you know if there is a chance? sorry for my English, i am not mother language. Have anice day and thanks for your support. Harpoon
Nice vid mate! I didn't know how to use templates between maps before! Did you know you can now give the rescue chopper a 'follow' command, so you don't have to manually make waypoints for it anymore?
Well done, and thanks. You have the patience of Jobe. Absolutely awful software. Mechanism to bring in template to new theatre is a joke in 2023. I tried it with Syria, and there's not water in that part of the map, so I could not even move the vessels.
@@harmer4245 i am Sorry. 2 Hours ago i was searching and searching but found nothing and i just skipped threw i was looking around didn't find an eagle dynamics folder i am now switching to beta if that maybe adds the folder.
@@butterfliege885 Right click the DCS shortcut icon on your desktop, click properties at the bottom of the menu and in the window you'll see the installation path.
