Using Trout Magnets to Catch Big Crappie

In this video, we’ll do a bit of ultralight panfishing using Trout Magnets and Crappie Magnet Slab Bites to catch crappie!
The Crappie Magnet Slab Bites, Trout Magnets, and Trout SOS Fishing Line shown in this video can be purchased at TroutMagnet.com, Bass Pro Shops, Walmart, and other retailers.
The Micro Lite Graphite Ultralight Fishing Rod and Daiwa Regal LT1000 spinning reel can be purchased at Bass Pro Shops.

Love your musical introduction and then your professional overview of the video set-up you provide. I have been using 4LB test with the UL but definitely need to get some 2LB for the added battles that should provide. Such a beautiful spot to fish and that Slad at 4:08 was the way to kick off the outing. Mark got a Slad too at 4:53 to commence the trip. That was a gorgeous collection of Crappies. You picked the right day to go fishing. Looking forward to your next video in the series now that the Spring weather should be making its timid appearance.

@pistolcreek when they are on bed 95% of what we catch are the males they hang out around the outskirts and will even clump together.. I saw some serious slab females hanging tight on the bed & they rarely bite, but every now and again they will.. I generally use a 1 1/8 th inch Charlie Brewer paddle tail with 1/30 oz z man micro finess shroom head, I generally cut a few segment off the Charlie Brewer and then I glue it on. 4lb Twitch Master line. Some of the ol' timers around here say Rosy Reds ( red minnows) are the best thing to get the females to bite.

When using 2lb test line do you tie a loop knot or directly to the trout magnet head?

I usually tie directly to the Trout Magnet jig head with a Palomar knot.

Late to the party Chris!! I was away then got sick. Playing some catch up now 😉. Nice setup on the rod and reel. Wow…that 1st one you got 💪🏻. Then Marks 2nd one 👍 Those black nose are pretty cool. Are those kind more in your area or are they everywhere sprinkled in? So many gorgeous crappies guys!! I can’t wait to get the boat out to my local reservoir to get on some nicer crappie. @@pistolcreek yes sir! I was going to put the boat in for the season a week and a half ago but we got a bunch of rain so we got flooded out. Hopefully this weekend I’ll be back on the Delaware. I’m taking my other boat to the reservoir tomorrow to try my luck on some nicer crappie and pike fishing a little 🤞🏻

Awesome! So refreshing to watch some crappie fishing without Mario Fishing (LiveScope). I can take a guy who’s never fished in his life and make him an instant YT crappie hero with forward-facing sonar. No skill involved whatsoever. Really appreciate you guys showing actual fishing skills!

Thank you for watching! Mark is a great angler. Me… not so much. I can see the fun in forward facing sonar. I have a buddy who has it and it definitely helps you see what’s down there. But, as he has explained to me, it doesn’t make them bite. Fish can be funny sometimes. Technology is nice, but you can definitely have a good time fishing with or without it.
