My name is Felicia Wright and I’m an unconventional homeschooling mom and teacher that stepped off the beaten path and now I help other parents do the same. After teaching for several years I discovered that school dimmed the light of so many children and I didn't want to participate anymore.
Now I help families as a family education consultant as well as share what I have learned as a business owner.
I believe that as a community we can create better educational outcomes if we work together. It is time to come together to create a better system for our children; even if that means bringing our kids home.
Thank you so much for watching my videos and caring about the future of children. I post videos regarding homeschooling and business.

A one size fits all model does not work, school choice and education alternatives are what our children need. 🤓

You can buy workbooks from dollar tree, Sam’s Club, BJs wholesale club, Amazon and Costco. The are usually less then $10 and you get a really huge thick book. For anyone looking for work books.

Omg, we're transitioning into homeschooling and I'm so glad the algorithim recommeded you! This content is so helpful and I expect I'm going to go down the rabbit hole and binge all your videos now. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion!

Thank you for this! I am a new homeschooling mom with no teaching background, so I really appreciate learning from teachers turned homeschooling parents like yourself! I just rediscovered a love for workbooks. My kids are young, and sometimes doing just a little bit each day is all they have an attention span for. I would really appreciate a review on the Evan Moor Daily Series! I like the idea of biting off a small chunk each day of a variety of subjects. I think that approach would work really well for my kids. Thank you again for your channel!

I’m so glad you agree. Workbooks are great!!!!!! Cut em up! write in em. Make them into board games, cards, hide the pages and ask kids to find and solve. It’s FUN and you know what? It’s rewarding to see a scribbled page, a stamp at the bottom or a sticker.

I have started to use workbooks with my kids and I noticed a BIG difference when I started to do this. I need to get more. Thanks for your help with getting my family started with the process. We appreciate you 💕🥰

My son is in 1st grade now. I try to find a video online about the subject that we are studying on YT then we discuss it and go to workbooks and/or practice on board

This makes me feel so much better! I’ve been using workbooks for a while now but was worried they were not “good enough”

Is there a certain strategy that you would use when creating the lesson plans from the workbooks?

Can’t you teach from workbooks? And can it be used alone?

This was an awesome explanation of workbooks! We have used a ton of awesome curriculum but I always come back to workbooks! I tend to lean toward a more Charlotte Mason/Child Led/Eclectic homeschool but workbooks have helped me to “test” my daughters knowledge and guide me in what to expand on. Currently we have been using Brain Quest 4 to reinforce some topics I have already taught and go over some new topics that I had on my goal list for this year. My favorite way to use this particular workbook is: 1- pick a few days that I need my daughter to work independently, 2 - the night before the day I get out post-it notes and put them on the pages I want her to complete with any notes about the lesson, 3 - I write out any rules, vocabulary, math concepts or ideas from the lessons I chose on the whiteboard, 4- I create a RU-vid playlist by searching the key words in the Brain Boxes and send the videos to my daughters RU-vid kids, 5- I add which videos to watch with each lesson on the post it notes, 6- I go over the concepts in the morning that are on the board. This usually buys me a whole day of independent work!

Your right I have been using brain Quest for my son since prekindergarten and also used the book series "What Your (prek-6th) Grader Needs to Know" (by the core knowledge series)
@TheChan7
This was great hearing from your wisdom as a former teacher. We enjoy brain quest and Evan moor also. Thanks for sharing.

Loved this video! What a great topic! I think that sometimes workbooks can be dismissed too quickly by homeschoolers - but I have actually found that good quality workbooks can be VERY helpful and even a really fun part of homeschool. There are definitely weaknesses, and we can't use ONLY workbooks for homeschool, but I've found them to be an excellent tool.

Great video!! I really appreciate this video and felt it was very helpful. I myself do gravitate towards workbooks and I like to teach a lesson myself, together then on their own just like you have said to. I even add in RU-vid videos. The problem is I always self doubt myself and ditch the workbook and get a fancy expensive curriculum my kids always hate. So your video really helped to reassure me and put my mind at rest. To know this is what teachers do really was great knowledge and I really appreciate it.

YES! We LOVE workbooks here! I do find myself YouTubing and googling how to teach the topic then I do give the lesson, and I don't mind that but sometimes it is time consuming so I may switch to a scripted Curriculum, but still unsure.
