June 28th was dad's, Navy Musician, Chief Warrant Officer 2, Alfred I Gustafson 95th birthday. The piccolo was one of dad's first instruments in high school. He would have been thrilled to hear this. Sadly dad passed way last Sunday 9.7.2014. His ashes will buried at sea in a Navy Ceremony.
Thank you for remembering our departed shipmate your father to us. The knowledge makes the outstanding performance of this piece even more moving to hear! -- BM2 Coolidge
After numerous unsatifactory versions posted on RU-vid, my cap's off to the US Navy Fleet Forces Band! Proper tempo, volume and a spirited piccolo solo. BRAVO
Awesome! Well done! My least favorite and most favorite parts about the piccolo obligato is this! Piccolo, loud AF but in balance. Everyone else hopefully ok... I always tune from piccolo to euphonium. Easier to then LET LOOSE.
You'd have to be kind of gay to be the piccolo player in any band.. like 3x for the Navy. Gayness is what makes the navy strong... Our uniforms, traditions, songs... All a part of the foundation that makes the strongest military force to ever exist.
