@ Tom Reedy: your very welcome. My mother lived in the Bronx when she was a girl and she had a teacher whose name was Reedy. He was a WW1 Navy veteran and i was just wondering if you might be related to him.
So blessed to have this video, which shows my late father laughing at the 2:25 mark. My father met Bob Hope and many other stars who gave of themselves tirelessly to entertain our phenomenal men and women of the armed forces. God Bless Mr. Hope and God Bless the Armed Forces.
Sp.4 Alan Baker. Came back to base after an ammo run almost missing the show. I’m somewhere in the back. Joey ate at our mess tent - A battery 13th. Artillery 25 th. Infantry. Great show !
@Big Bill O'Reilly Thanks for standing up and telling everyone your the ass, there always has to be one. by the way take your meds your moron is showing
Dennis, thanks! You just confirmed the day of the show, Dec. 25th. I couldn't remember if it was the day before Christmas, Christmas day, or the day after- because Bob Hope did several shows over several days. It is very important for me know. I was a gunner on a chopper and we were sitting right outside the show on standby. Man, I was pissed we couldn't see it. Then we got a call to rescue a 1st Infantry Division patrol that got ambushed. One dead but two still alive. It was a sad Christmas. Decades later I researched 1st division soldiers that were KIA that day. There were two names. Because of the wounds listed on the records I believed I was able to identify whose body we took out- it was Sgt. E5 Larry Reed. But because I wasn't sure of the date, I couldn't be 100% positive. Now I am. Thanks, and welcome home.
@@327h7 You have a very valid statement. The women of back then used modesty as well as looks to be very sexy. Todays women just let it hang out and do whatever they can to exhabit themselves and exhibit no morality at all. Look at the entertainers of today, they do everything they can to show their boobs and stand there with their legs spread apart.
Peta Wilson of the TV series Nikita was a stunner. And currently, Anna Torv of Fringe is hot inspite of being the niece of the crypto jew, Ruuuupert Murdoch.
I was there at this show ( will never forget when he talked to R T O man in field ) he told Bob thanks for memories) Bob had tears in his eyes. such touching moment " will never forget. R I P Bob and THAKS FOR MEMORIES . wolfhound foever Paul
No cowards in that group!...anywhere!!...THAT'S for sure!... The cowards were all home....complaining!!!...juuuuuust like they do today!...!... And All REAL AMERICANS....KNOW IT!!... THANKS!!...FOR POSTING THIS!!..
amazing to find and see this; I'm one of the Red Cross "girls" shown in the audience in the early minutes. We're sitting together, wearing our light blue uniforms. I'll never forget this day and never expected to have a souvenir like this. And to the guys and the nurses who were there, you're the best!
My late aunt was a nurse there at that time. I just got done looking at her pictures from this show and thought I'd see what I could find online. Lots, apparently! Thank you to all for your service.
My company of about 250 men arrived at Cu Chi not many days before this show. The 61st HEM CO, had departed from Ft Knox, KY and crossed the Pacific by troop ship. We were all somewhere way back in that crowd of soldiers. I suppose it was a good thing to have such an inspirational start to our year. Afterwards we counted the days until we could go home. It was great to find this video and re-live the memory. Lt Tom Stover, Armament Platoon Leader
Tom Stover I was one of the 250 men of the 61st Hem. Didn’t care for the boat ride. I had just turned 18 a couple of months before we boarded that troop ship. Still have my slimy green dragon card for crossing the international date line. Hope you get this message. Can’t find any pictures of the guys in the company
The men and women who served in the Vietnam War enjoyed and appreciated the show that Bob Hope and the stars put on for them There was always 2 versions one for TV and one for the troops God Bless Bob Hope he was the greatest for the troops at that time frame
My Christmas Wish is that America, Her Warriors and Their Families have the Merriest Christmas and the Happiest New Years ever! Hugs, Sparrow Six-Five!
I have spent many Holidays entertained by the USO over a 28 year career - USO was a home away from home. I would get autographed pics for my kids - All my gratitude to this organization, I shed many tears, Ciao, L (Veteran)
I was there too Ronnie. We went out about 700am to save a seat for the CO. We were in the front row to begin with but had to move because they put the wounded and the nurses there which was only right. I remember the cast at the end of the show singing Silent Night and I was close enough to see tears streaming down their faces. I'll never forget that day. It's great that at least part of it is memorialized. USA welcome home Ronnie.
Many thanks for posting the legendary Bob Hope entertaining our troops in Vietnam. I wonder how many of our boys shown, came back in body bags.....liked, shared and subscribed
Bob Hope. One really great American. Now, we have celebrities who call for boycotting states in our own country because they don't subscribe to their political opinions.
He gave up soOOOOoo many Christmases to show his love and appreciation to the Military men and women of not just America but other countries fighting with them as well. I pray we never have a need for this again. R.I.P. MR. HOPE...what an amazing human being you were.💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙🇺🇸
Bob Hope was a true American and entertainer! He would come to our town once a year and entertain us, he lived in Palm Springs, So, it was a hop skip and a jump tour town.......Loved seeing him!
This guy was the best when I was growing up,we hardly ever missed a special any time of the year whether it was Christmas,thanksgiving........his birthday......etc,he was always a hoot to see and hear, the best"nut"in Hollywood,he was for the ages
i got to cu-chi in 68 was on the Q-4 RADAR till march when were you there? though it was the best job you could have just got there at the start of Tet
@@thomasgregory7924 another soft job some of you what to be hero served. How about some of us who served in the shit no able to brag cause there was nothing to brag of the soft position you people received over some of us others
Where I was at in Vietnam we didn't rate a USO show. We were too close to the DMZ to risk that I suppose. So I watch the shows that the Army got and the Marine Corps didn't. It only took me 50 years to watch a USO show. SEMPER FI
I arrived in Country December 20 in Saigon. I sat in the 1st first row of the plane. I remember them opening the door and Instant Sweat appeared from the heat and humidity. I was there as part of a replacement company and I was sent to Cu Chi. I was there at the show, but way in the back. I used my 8mm to record it, but I don't remember if it was Christmas Day or not. I was a member of the 2/27th Wolfhound. Spent my year there and 12 of us flew back on a C141 in jump seats for 3 days., first landed in Tokyo, then Alaska, then Alabama and finally into Dover. One of the 12 guys on the flight said someone took his Money Orders worth $1,400 and they called the MP's. Took a few hours for them to show up as it was Christmas eve. The MP's started to search all of our bags for the missing Money Orders. Someone said search his stuff first, which they did. They found them after a few minutes. No one was happy with the guy as we had lost 3-4 hours from being released to go home. The MP's keep the guy who had misplaced his money orders. In hind sight, I think some of the guys had souvenirs that they did not want to be found. Yes, Memories...
I was in the hospital in Japan when the show came. Joey Heatherton, Miss World and the Korean Kittens came to the room. She said she wished she could do something for me and I mentioned she could reach inside these P Js and she did and patted my belly. Everybody laughed and I have a memory forever 3bn 7th Marines 1st div

Frederick Schepp, I’ll bet now that every time you relive that memory you make a mess in your skivvies. I know I would. She was the sexiest thing since black satin panties!
I remember as a young kid watching this with my family we where worried and praying for my brother and cousin., my other brothers and sisters an I looking for him but my father said he wasn’t there, they were somewhere else in the country, Dear mom and dad let us watch the show and then pray and go to bed., I was the youngest of 6, raised old school. NYC., back then you listen and respeced your mother and father and all elders that was it.., no bullshit, and I thank God that I got to raise my kids the same way humble and thankful no punks.
Got to see them while I was stationed at Takhli RTAFB, Thailand. The date was 20 or 21st of December 1964. There was a grand total of about 128 people(Americans) at the show and on the base. I was permanently at England AFB, Louisiana, but had TDYs to Florida, Japan, Taiwan, Hawaii, California, New Mexico, Phililippines,. And I had only made up to E-3, but in a speciality code for Armament and Electronics Technician.they sang Silent Night, many tears in that audience!
Sorry about my English. Now, the war was gone but this camp still be here - 2019. I have 2 year in Red VN army, Dong Du Camp, Cu Chi, 9 division. Like you, at Cu Chi, I smell the gun under bad sunshine, i saw the moon in rainy night...... We were soldier althought Vietnamese or American. Good luck everybody. Respect from Vietnam.
@ Tue Ha: I was in the Army over there and i was wounded in action. I want you to know that i have no hatred for you. It's over. We both served our countries and now it's time to put the war in the past and be friends.
@@tueha597 Yes, friends now. I even have pants that are made in Vietnam Ha Ha. Also i understand our U.S. Navy ships now protect your fishing boats which are being Harassed by Chinese Navy.
Joey Heatherton was born on September 14, 1944, celebrated her 76th birthday on Monday September 14, 2020. She is an American actress, dancer, and singer. A sex symbol of the 1960s and 1970s, she is best known for her many television appearances during that time, particularly as a frequent variety show performer, although she also appeared in acting roles. She performed for over a decade on USO tours presented by Bob Hope, and starred in several feature films including (1965) and (1977).
Big wip. Volunteered so shut up and take it in yourself. Just another want to be . Some of us didn't have this pleasure. Cause we were always in the field.
good ole tropical lightning. It was my absolute dream to be apart of that company. I signed an 8 year Army contract for infantry when I was 19 and wanted to do full career and more than anything go serve in Afghanistan but I was injured during basic at Ft. Benning and discharged, ruined my military career, it kills me
Take heart in that you tried. We are not always meant to do what we want to. Support those that did do what you wanted to, and live your life to the best of your ability.
As I’m watching this I’m wondering how many of these kids were killed, missing or came home only to die an early death? I hate war. Especially this damn war. I’m so glad that Bob Hope did these USO tours, he was a great person.
For a number of years I didn't care for Bob Hope. His comedy wasn't my idea of comedy. Then, in 1970, I went into the Navy. What Bob Hope did for the members of our Armed Services was absolutely tops. I've been a huge fan of Mr. Hope ever since my time in the service. Thank you, Bob Hope!! Andy McKane, Molokai, Hawaii.
