Bob was one of a kind. He cared about the country and the troops and it showed. The closest thing we had for my generation was Robin Williams. I saw him in Iraq over Christmas 2007.

I was there at the Christmas Show in Long Binh in 1967. We really got a kick out of Bob Hope's jokes, but we got even more of a kick out of looking at all of those beautiful young women like Raquel Welch, Barbara McNair and Miss World Madeline Hartog-Bel, who he brought along to cheer us up.

There will only be one Bob Hope. His willingness and compassion to bring just a short time of enjoyment to our troops will never be forgotten.

Can you imagine even one of todays selfish self centered "stars" giving up one Christmas for our troops? Hope did it for 50 years, God Bless him.

Our country should always be thankful for Bob Hope and the other celebrities who also offered their time and appreciation to go to Vietnam. Most of all of course, our country should be so thankful for all those who served and those who died in Vietnam. 🇺🇲

Thank the USO and people like Bob Hope who support all of our military men and women, where are all the new entertainers performing for the USA today?

I was there in 1970 thank you to all that were there welcome back doctors and nurses from the 24th evacuation Hospital...sp4 38th bpo....

You may think Bob Hope was all over the place but the fact is most soldiers never saw a USO show - especially those of us in forward units.

I missed that show, I had just returned from Dak To. I spent a quiet day in my bed at the Long Bien hospital. I heard the cheers!

I suggest watching the PBS documentary, The Vietnam War. And God Bless Raquel.

A few of us from our Company (A, 1/26th Inf, 1st ID) were to go to the show, but somehow we were off the list and back in the field on patrol out near to the Cambodian Border. So close yet so far.

I was in one of Bob Hope show in Ben Hoa in 68. Let me tell you his Jokes were so dry and corny , I just didn't get it. He was Not a funny guy at all. The Girls were Hot all right. His antic with that stupid Golf club was so stupid. Frankly I don't see any humor in this man at all. I heard James Brown gave a better show then Hope.
