I hit them on the head, cut their swim bladder so they will sink and throw them back in the water. I don't personally have any other use for them, and I fill that bin about 3+ times each time I go out, so it'd be a lot of fish to transport around. I could say I do it because they are invasive, but I think the honest answer about why I bowfish for carp on utah lake is because it's fun in a variety of ways, just like other hunting/fishing types. The fact that they are invasive and harmful to the ecosystem is a nice justification, but realistically I'm not having any significant impact on carp numbers. However, if bowfishing were harmful to the ecosystem, I wouldn't do it.
