ANC 200 is too damn pricey and tbh it wasn’t a good move for V moda since we the consumers were always picked V moda’s for better price tag and even better quality than the others ... but not this time!!!
I personally own and love V-Moda headphones, but I've always used their wired products because they're just so good (and have many accessories). I've had a pair of M-100's since 2013 and they still work perfectly and haven't fallen apart. I'm gonna trade them in for a pair of M-100 Master's ($250 MSRP) cuz I want to get a new pair with 50mm hi-res certificad drivers (and V-Moda gives you a 50% discount coupon if you trade old headphones in for a new model). So win-win for me
But if I where to buy portable bluetooth over-ear headphones I'd pick the AirPods Max over the M-200 ANC because they're definitely a more polished product that just works with my iPhone better. For wired office headphones? V-Moda M100 Master hits the spot.
The transparency mode from the Airpods Max actually makes me feel like I can hear more than without them. I know it’s all the microphones that are causing this, but it’s such a weird feeling being able to hear more with headphones being on my head
We have had microphone audio pickup through noise cancelling headphones for shooting for a while and I always wanted it brought over to commercial music options and so glad to see it now.
I have the M200 model with cable and the flat sound is designed for professional studio or audiophilia, they sound exquisitely precise, if they sound bad it is because the song is badly produced, you have the same results with Sennheiser, Beyerdinamic and Audio technica, I was lucky to being able to listen to them all including Airpods Max and BT AAC will never have better quality than AptxHD and even less than a balanced cable
The distortion on the max 100% volume was always been a problem and a major con for V Moda “wireless” headphones since their first wireless headphones and that’s why you should use wire for best sound experience on those headphones... they’re always better than every headphones out there in bass and high ends with wire tho 😅
Could your distortion be from you not changing the eq to maximize the potential as you did for rock? I have 2 pairs of V-Moda and have never once experienced a distortion.
I was very interested in this new V-Moda headphones. I own the first crossfade wireless and about six years in, they look like new and sound fantastic. I am going to wait till this new headphones iron out its flaws. The crossfade wireless 2 codex edition I've heard sound better than this m200 anc, and are now cheaper, too. Might as well upgrade to that one.
@@DR.P3RKY I thought about selling mine now that I bought the Sony XM4 that honestly do sound better; but the crossfades are so good I don't want to get rid of them.
The crossfade wireless 2 and codex editions seem to be the last headphones designed by V-Moda before the acquisition by Roland and if that were to be true, the M-200 ANC are rather concerning when it comes to what it might entail for future products. Definitely holding onto my CW2 Codex Editions til another M-100 like series comes out from the company. The only killer app the M-200s offer for me are the magnetic replaceable earcups.
I love my vmodo cans specially with a audioquest firefly connected , I also got the custom plates on mine and a boom mic I love the fact they come with a lifetime warranty even if you destroy them vmodo will give 50 % for a new pair even 10 years down the road crazy , they also sell several types of ear muffs
right on. build quality is about durability too. not just look and feel. well. to me at least. hipsters might disagree though 😏 my current vmodas I bought in 2013. Replaced cables and earcushions twice each. And more out of not looking so great no more. than functional problems.
No!! I have the vmoda m100, was really carefully used and the top cover of the head part started peeling of after about 2 years. Maybe just my unit but the material was started to crack around the screews after 2-3 years. Im using it right now with some paracord "upgrade" because I love how it sounds, but the durability is a really big dissapointment for me!! :/
@@ardavanmasihabadi3110 There is no such thing though. You don't break in headphones. Your ears adapt to listening to them, yes, but the way that headphones emit sound does not get altered after prolonged use (unless you break the drivers of course).
It takes a certain amount of time for the drivers to loosen up other wise the sound comes off as “stiff” overly sharp or even distorted this “loosening” effect he’s referring to is commonly known as “breaking in” driver that have this breaking in period also keep their quality for much longer then drivers that are naturally loose
I have V-Moda, it takes a while for the headphones to break in to get O.K sounds. Their company don't take any suggestions at all from customer which is bad in my opinion. With that price, better go with overpriced Apple, good sounds right of the box and already have amazing ecosystem 😅
V-moda's immortal life is really good though. if you already have a pair you can send yours in and you will get a considerable discount off your purchase of new headphones. I got half the msrp of my headphones from it. I doubt apple does anything like it
Guys, for some reason you keep comparing AirPods Max to anything other than the ones from world-famous Hi-Fi brands like Bowers & Wilkins (PX7), Sennheiser (Momentum 3), Shure (A50) etc. Why?
yeah.. those parts from this review is bit personalized by the guy’s own preferences... and you can clearly see that he really wanted to find something to win over his Airpod maxes tho 😅
V moda should have priced at $399. They look very much like the other models they have. Nevertheless the less, I’m still enjoying the M100 in the past 7 years. MIC better on Apple
@Gooch destroyer but the apple watch 6 is so expensive. And we all know about AirPods. The band options for watch are also very expensive. iPhone prices increase every year from the last few years while earlier they just replaced the later in terms of price and still bring new things to the table. The magic keyboard case for iPads is insanely priced. And we have to buy so many accessories for our major apple products, not just the iPad all of which are again overpriced. When you buy such premium headphones you should get the cable you have to buy instead for 35 bucks. Don’t get me wrong, I am a big apple fan boy and I know its just better than the competition. But we all can agree the price has been increasing a lot by all means since the last few years.
@@varunkapoor4819 also apple doesn't believe you own the things you buy from them. want to get it fixed somewhere other than an apple store? fuck you! at least apple doesn't seem to sell your data to other parties
I liked the microphone quality of the airpods better. Less Echo sounding. Are both of these compatible with Mac, iPhone, Android, and Microsoft? Good review. However, everyone doesn't have the same ear drums. I suggest trying them out before buying. I have a wired set of Bose noise canceling that are 20 years old. They have been great over the years, especially when on an airplane and the sound quality is fine for me.
Why in the world did u even get an idea to try to compare apple to vmoda? Your initial statement is as if, Apple airpods max is like the gold standard that vmoda is trying to compare it which is not the case.
V-MODA M-100 was one of my favorite headphones. The design of the M-200 is dated and the new logo looks terrible. I assume that sound quality is still great, and that it’s more refined since it’s flatter but maybe not as fun since they distort so the EQ can’t be pushed for a bass boost. It doesn’t seem like it’s worth $500 or picking up instead of AirPods Max, but this would be an amazing contender against Bose and Sony at $349.
My Vmoda 200 ANC on the way to my house 😎. Audiophile junkie here. Wireless cool and wired hooked up to my Phil Jones big Head Pro headphone amplifier 😎😎😎😎🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩.
Did it arrive yet? If so, do you recommend it? I broke my Wireless crossfade 2 a year ago and I'm in desperate need of a new headphone. Should I get this or the Crossfade codex?
Air Pods Max are pricey but they’ve really found a sweet spot in the Mid-Fi market. Better sound and build quality plus slightly better ANC than the $300-$400 market. And better integration than the $500-$800 market.
You make it sound like The Airpod Max headphones have been out for a super long time when you ask "Does Apple finally have some serious competition". They've only been out for like 4 months and it's their first time coming out with an over ear design haha. It sounded like they had been out for a years and Apple had been improving them. Just a statement you'd hear about headphones like WH-1000x headphones or even the Bose QC/700 series.
The wireless mode on V-Moda headphones were never very good. On my first and second gen crossfade wireless it's a bit underwhelming. I almost never use them wireless though so it's not an issue for me. But damn do V-Modas rock with a good DAC and amp. I've always wanted to check out the Airpod Max for myself. Never been a fan of Apple, but they know how to make good pair wireless headphones. I use the Airpod pro whenever I'm out an about.
If a company like Samsung made these headphones, people would have reacted way differently. They would have said that they’re worth the money and they are the best wireless headphones that are available right now. Not hating because I really like Samsung, but people try and find reasons to hate on Apple even though they haven’t even tried out the product.
I was pretty excited to snag a pair of AirPods Max but...returned them a week later. The sound quality was great but certainly didn’t blow me away. And even more importantly, the ear pads were really uncomfortable on my ears. They actually made my ears itch soooo 🤷🏻♂️. I’m looking forward to the next AirPods Pro at this point.
You can buy a microphone with ears so we can hear the sound but it’s super expensive. Or you can buy a microphone that fits for headphones (for example blue yeti) and it’s cheaper but it will sound weird so I prefer you to buy the microphone that has ears on
@@peterthepanda Is the ANC on the XM3s and XM4s similar? Because I had the XM3s before I upgraded to the AirPods Max and the ANC on the Max was considerably better than the XM3s
@@peterthepanda And btw, the AirPods Max may he overpriced by about 50-80 bucks, but they're easily the best consumer wireless headphones on the market currently. I definitely recommend it for anyone who has an iPhone/iPad/Apple TV.

I would not buy the Max, they are too heavy 400 grams almost are just a no go, but V-moda mic is a total letdown too so I will just stay with Sony, they know how to make real headphones that you can wear.
The difference between artificial and artifactual. Please buy a dictionary rather than act if you've swallowed one (much like alot of Americans do when they want to sound more intelligent)
Well done! You just made my day, when said that Airpods Max are better, you just forgot to mention that, the headphones you like, Airpods Max, does not support lossless track, not at all :D
V-moda if it was 450 instead of 500 and there is no way I am gonna choose airpods max over the other one for 3 main reasons : No headphone jack , no USB-C and no on or off button.
The airpods max case is designed to connect and disconnect them from your device... especially if you use android... there is a reason apple calls it "SMARTcase" And you use the airpods max at home anyway who needs protection?? The case is perfectly fine
You mean bitrate? Right, Bluetooth doesn't have enough bandwidth to transmit a raw CD stream, but newer codecs like AAC or AptX are close enough to match the sound quality of what you listen from a CD that really the bitrate doesn't matter that much.
@@AlejandroLZuvic That's right, bitrate. You mean Qualcomm aptX-HD, which the iPhone doesn't have. Anyway, the sound is always compressed and if I was going to spend 500$ on a headphone I would prefer ones that really let you hear Hi Res audio.
