Just a quick motorcycle maintenance video.
Today I'm showing you how easy it is to replace the front brake pads.
Sorry for the heavy breathing, allergies were killing me.

Do you have to bleed them to change pads? Thanks
@bubbatx
@bubbatx 2 месяца назад
You don't have to bleed the brakes to change the pads. If your fluid is really dark in color I would recommend to bleed and flush them then.

Beautiful V star. Enjoyed watching the video. It is interesting to see how your 650 BRAKES, are different Then my 1300. I actually have some new EB C Brake pads that I may put on, but my stock pads still have a little bit of life left.

Thanks, I miss that bike so much!! Watching your videos brings back memories. I never thought the brakes would be different but it makes sense since it's a bigger bike. The EBC pads were way better than my stock ones.

I just used your video yesterday. Thank you. Is one question. When I rotate the tire there's a light scraping noise. I believe it's to brake pad. I don't know if that's normal because I don't remember paying attention to it before. Your thoughts?

Quick question. What’s the purpose of pushing in the pistons? I just got my first bike late last year and I’m looking to replace the brakes this spring. Is there a reason behind pushing in the pistons?
@bubbatx
@bubbatx 3 года назад
You push them in to make room for the new ones. New pads will typically be thicker than your old ones
@jimwilliams2327
@jimwilliams2327 3 года назад
I know this is an old video, but did you ever do one on the back brakes???
@bubbatx
@bubbatx 3 года назад
Sadly no. Never been confident doing drum brakes on cars, let alone bikes.
@ljsschwartz5759
@ljsschwartz5759 4 года назад
Is the point of taking the top off of the reservoir just to release the pressure?
@bubbatx
@bubbatx 4 года назад
Yes. Makes the pistons easier to push in
@jimwilliams2327

Do you know torgue spec for tighten bolt's on caliper??
@kenbred46
@kenbred46 2 года назад
Everybody shows me their special caliper mashing tools and then I pull out my trusty C Clamp collection. Does the same thing, at 1/3 the cost. The grease on the back of the pads really isn't needed since the pads are changed so often as compared to car pad, which could be on the car for years.

I'm guilty of buying tools I don't need. Recently just bought a new caliper press tool..... I learned by pushing them in with a flathead screwdriver.

I dont see why you opened the system. Caliper would compress just fine without opening the master
@bubbatx
@bubbatx 3 года назад
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. There is fluid behind the caliper and when compressed it goes back up the lines to the master. Opening up the master just makes compressing the pistons easier.
@tristanh11
@tristanh11 3 года назад
@@bubbatxwell then you might want to add that the brakes need to be bled if you open up the system
@bubbatx
