Due to a rear flat tire, I had to remove the rear wheel and tire. I also decided to upgrade both tires so I ended up taking both wheels off. This video follows the instructions in the manual. Hope you find it useful!
Cheers!

Not a lot to do, but it still takes 1 hrs. At least I would need it. A very useful video William. Keep it up.

Thanks Gregor! I am not sure how long it took to remove the wheels but it did take a lot longer than expected to reinstall them. Thanks for the compliments! Cheers!

Nice and thorough! That's a bummer for sure, to lose a camp over a flat. When I pulled my tires in Washington, my buddy Tim had the tools laid out for me... I could not believe the size of the axel nut! I have read you can order I think a 27mm nut that's the correct thread. - Frank

Hmm, very true about losing a nice camp day due to a flat. That is great info on the 27mm nut also. I was really surprised how large it was.

Good, clear shots of the action. Hope these work out as expected. Thanks for the video!

Thank you much Rob! As you know, getting the right shots of the procedure can be tricky at times. I believe these tires will work well for what I have planned for the V-Strom. Thanks for the kind words Brother!! Cheers!

Manuals are good for learning how to do something, but a video like this is even more valuable! 36 mm??? I could have lent you mine! When I started doing my own oil changes on my Spyder had to pick up one that size.

Thanks Jody! I did enjoy your oil change video on the Spyder! I was shocked at how large the axle nut is. More tools = more better!! Cheers Young Lady!!

Nice one brother. You're definitely gonna get a lot of milage out of those 705s, mine have barely lost any tread and I've read up on some guys getting crazy long milage out of them as well. Great bang for the buck indeed

@doc650adventures Год назад
Thanks Ulli! The 705s come highly recommended by a lot of people to include you! I have heard they offer great mileage and do well on the type of terrain I plan on taking them on. Cheers Brother!!

Very well done, DOC650, 36mm is a Honker for sure. if you don't have the special tool to hold the front axle, take the axle to the hardware store, get a bolt about 3" long with the head that fits in the axle and two jam nuts. Made one for my V650 for a few bucks. Easy to keep with the bike too. 705's are a good tire, Ulli is 100% right.

VW! Why am I not surprised you would have a solution for the front axle issue? Such a great tip Bro! I am going to be doing that. You are a friggin genius! The 705s do seem like a great tire. Cheers Brother!

36mm? dump truck lug nut grade...
@doc650adventures
@doc650adventures Год назад
LOL!! Yeah AB, I was rather pissed I had to go get a socket to take of the axle nuts. Of course, there was not a tool in the tool kit with the bike I could use. Great news is, I am living up to the stereotype of an old man with lots of tools!! Cheers Bro!!

I don't think you need to remove the rear caliper, the wheel should just slide out.
@doc650adventures
@doc650adventures 4 месяца назад
It is necessary to remove the caliper due to its position relative to the wheel. I used the owner’s manual as the reference for this. I wish I did not have to remove it for sure! Thanks for the comment! Cheers!
