The American Grand touring V10 sedan we never got. This is my favorite car build on RU-vid to date no doubt. I have ALWAYS been curious about swapping the Ford V10 engine into a car. I worked in construction for many summers during college and many of the trucks had The V10s. I was always fascinated by them but always wondered why they had little power for such a large engine. Well as we all know...they were made to work and pull....not gap sports cars. But that never deterred my brain from dreaming up a Panther platform super sleeper with a boosted triton V10 hauling ass on the highway just blowing by people with a unfamiliar V10 sound. Would be so cool and unique. As I continue to dream, I'll watch in aw as you guys pull this off. Incredible effort guys and I cannot wait to see this car completed, it's gonna be so cool!!!!

I think you invented the perfect Ford/Lincoln interceptor. The Taurus just doesn't live up to the old crown vic. But your continental will. Absolutely beautiful build idea. Very original. Well done. I was in process of dumping a 2v v10 in a crown vic prior to covid and life turning things upside down. Had to sell everything unfortunately. I enjoy the idea of the big v10 in a big car. The way things use to be. Nostalgia in the modern sense. Your build is the epitome of this. Again well done. Can't wait to see the continental with the 4 valve v10. The sound alone with that cars styling will be prize winning alone.

I missed this video somehow before the V10 startup one and I'm re-watching now. I'm glad I'm not the only person who appreciates just how expensive Mercon LV transmission fluid is. When I first bought my Flex it was like $10 a quart. Best fluid I've found since then is actually the Valvoline Dexron VI/LV. The Max Life is supposed to be spec'd to work in the 6F55 transmission but I get harsher shifting with it, and I don't know if the Max Life had anything to do with it, but I've gone through 2 torque converters in 70k miles. This is after the factory one lasted 135k miles. Their LV specific fluid is actually cheaper, but the trans works better than new with a new converter and that stuff in it. It's better than the OEM so far. Nice bonus is it doesn't turn black like the Motorcraft fluid.

Third. Oh well. (bey the time I got done typing my novel, I am now far from third. Oops) That funnel in the trunk is actually fairly important for those that don't carry plastic funnels with them regularly so don't lose it. It's actually to allow you to push the spring loaded fuel door where you put a nozzle in at from a fuel station island. This is needed if you run out of gas sometime and don't have a plastic funnel. Assuming this is like my friend's 2012 Ford Explorer that doesn't have a cap (Ford went to a "capless" design in some of their vehicles), I will assume this is what this car has as well. I tried to make a funnel at one time because I accidentally ran out of fuel and only had a flyer that was essentially newspaper material. I folded over the paper so it would be stronger and although the funnel worked fine to get the fuel in, the problem was, when trying to carefully pull the funnel back out, the spring loaded door collapsed onto the paper and caused it to lodge at the top of the fuel neck just below the little spring loaded door. I didn't want to leave the paper in the fuel neck area so, I did my best to pull out the paper from the fuel neck but I didn't have small enough long nose pliers with me at the time and a little bit of it fell down into the fuel neck. So, I had to remove it from the inner wheel well to get the rest out. It wasn't fun. Moral of the story: Don't lose that stupid little funnel. Why Ford decided to go to a capless system and make their spring loaded doors so strong is beyond me. If you guys happen to read this comment and made it this far, I was going to mention something to you regarding your build and issues with the heads having that small leak at the welds on one of the heads. I noticed when you were baking the heads to test them to see how strong they were, I believe you were baking them to about 240 or 245 degrees. Although 240 or 245 is above what you would "want" to allow your engine to get to, the reality is, this isn't really a super high temp and you should have probably baked them to 260 and possibly even 270 in my opinion. I'm sure I'll get engineers or other automotive techs coming in here and roasting me for suggesting this but I'll explain to you why based on my experience. I own a 2002 F-250 with the 2-valve 6.8 V-10 and it has about 335k on it now. Although it unfortunately has a bad head gasket (I am pretty confident it does now anyway), I believe it may not have been at first and I ended up abusing it over the last year to get it to the point of making a small problem very bad. It started with a small leak and I thought originally it was a heater core but now I'm not sure as I have a radiator leak just below the upper neck area with a crack running about 3 inches directly underneath the neck where the curve of the neck joins the main radiator portion. And, although I could have swore I had coolant coming out of the A/C drain tube about a year ago and I "thought" I smelled coolant inside the cab, I haven't smelled it for a very long time and I don't see anything coming out of the A/C drain tube and there is nothing on the floor. So, I must have been mistaken at the time I thought that's what was wrong. Back then, I had a couple other vehicles that I was driving so I wasn't really worried about it and didn't get super in depth with diagnosing what was wrong. Unfortunately, one of my pickups got totaled and the other one quit so I'm back to driving this one again. Anyway..... This crack started out as something small of about 1/2" to 1". Over the last 4 or 5 months, it's gotten worse. I've unfortunately not fixed the issue entirely since I suspect or am pretty confident that it's going to require a head gasket and I likely have cracked heads at this point so tearing it down won't do me any good until I have replacement heads ready or the money for them. Where am I going with this long winded novel about this? Well, I can only go about 15 to maybe 20 miles before the engine over heats if the weather is decent and I'm not pulling anything. If I'm pulling a trailer or it's hot or I decide to go faster, I only get about 10 miles before I have to stop and put 4 gallons in and repeat every time it gets to that point. But, when it gets to that point, the engine does start to lose power as forced by the PCM because the V-10 engine has a "fail safe" program built into it to try to prevent complete catastrophic failure and it shuts down a few of the cylinders and alternates which cylinders it shuts down to try to get the non running / operating cylinders to act as an air pump and cool the engine off. My engine does not do this until about 268 or 270 degrees. I believe I have seen as much as 274 at this point. Extremely high for sure. Typically, I try to pull over when it starts to get to 245 or 250 but every now and then, I push it too far and hit those 270 plus marks more than I would like to admit. Once I spend about 4 or 5 minutes getting 4 gallons of coolant back in, the engine is cooled off and I'm running great again until I have to repeat the process all over. The gauge doesn't really start to move towards the higher limit or line until about 240 degrees and then the over heating warning light doesn't come on until 260 degrees. I run the Torque Pro app with my phone or tablet and constantly monitor the various sensors so I'm pretty confident it's accurate. There is a sensor to monitor cylinder head temps and if memory serves me correctly, they are about 10 degrees warmer. than the engine coolant/temp sensor I could recheck though to verify if you need me to. They also have a temp that goes up way higher and I want to say it gets into around 1500 to 2000 degrees but can't remember for sure what that reading gets to. Obviously, I'm abusing my vehicle and running it way hotter than I should and I'm assuming I have a head gasket problem now. I tried to fix the radiator a while back with some high heat JB Weld that is supposed to be specifically for high heat stuff like plastic radiators and unfortunately, I believe the problem in the cooling system just got worse and worse to where the pressure build up just made the crack worse and I tried to fix it a second time and then it got even worse. I suspect the abuse has likely caused the head gaskets or head to get worse and worse. Should you try to drive your vehicle to 250 or 260 degrees? Of course not. I'm just thinking that 240 is not really enough though. Obviously, this is your guys' call. I actually used to be a Ford tech at a couple dealerships and I'm aware that the temps I'm typing here are very high and I understand if you disagree with my thoughts on trying to make sure your heads will stand up to higher temps than 240 or 245 degrees. I'm just one to push things to an extreme limit. I'm really hopeful that this all works out but I'm worried you're going to have issues with the weld areas. I really want to be wrong on that. Although perhaps you don't have much content to upload, one thing I would suggest is to try to come up with some sort of content so you can have new videos daily. We Ford V-10 lovers look forward to something different since these are sort of a forgotten engine. Having to wait a few weeks or a month is just way too long to wait. In my opinion, the Ford V-10 is probably Ford's larger engine that they should have kept in production and should have improved on what was a great engine. It was so reliable and so low maintenance. I think if they would have increased the cubic inches to say an 8.6 or even a 9.0, that would have been something. Or, at the very least, put a turbo on it or super charger. The best part is that both the old and newer 3-valve versions do NOT have cam phasers like the stupid 5.4 has to give it problems so it's super reliable. Since they took care of the issue with the spark plugs, if they could just increase the size of the exhaust manifold studs or bolts to make them less likely to break, that would be one thing that would really improve the annoying things that owners would have to deal with. Also, if they would change the way they have the engine oil filter cooler/heater instead of having it underneath the engine mount on the driver's side, that would also be a plus. It's a shame Ford took it out of service because it was a hell of an engine. Good power but it had a lot of potential for so much more. If they would have increased the size and put either a turbo or super charger on it, it would be desired by so many people looking to haul trailers. And, of course like you guys are doing, if they would have made it a dual cam version, that would also have been a major plus. We need to see this engine running soon guys. It's been too long getting this going. Hurry up already.
