Thank you so much for watching! The rectangular filter is just a post motor exhaust filter. Unfortunately they never got a pre motor filter :(

Technically it’s still being used in machines today. All those companies that you listed do use a cyclonic collection system in a lot of their machines now. The Amways and early Dysons were primitive in their designs in comparison to later machines (ie lacking pre motor filters, shrouding around the cyclone, only 1-3 cyclones, etc…). Nowadays, Dyson has vacuums with 10+ different cyclones to ensure no loss of suction. The engineering is fascinating though, and these older and simpler bagless machines still perform much better than some of their newer counterparts :)

Technically, Filter Queens don’t cyclone technology. Filter Queens have their own patented system with a cloth filter cone that traps dirt and debris.
