Thank you SO very much! Extremely valuable information... informative as all get out! Especially considering we've had our DYSON'S for about 10 years, two of the animal D41's. Even though now newly educated on the matter, I fear there might be bearing issues in my future. I've gotten both vacuums wet in the bearing areas, more than I once, simply because I didn't want to risk disassembly and not putting it back together properly. The filth that accumulates under the clear plastic plate, and beyond, starts to build up and I just couldn't take it! 😵‍💫 Won't be doing that again. My take away is the wisdom to know better now, which is reward enough in itself... much appreciated! 💋

Best I've seen so far. Thank you for telling which screw and torc bits also needed. Because I kept trying different screw bits, I stripped one of the screws and now I'm stuck with ordering the whole cleaner head assembly. Wish I had seen this video before I started trying to figure it out myself.
@richardsvacuumcenter

ah bummer about the screw. If possible you can get a dremmel with a thin metal cutter bit and cut a notch across the screw head and then use a flat blade to unscrew it! Best of luck!

I have a DC43 Animal that has been making squeaky sounds when I vacuumed. I bought a T10 and T15 screwdriver and dismantled the brush bar. I think the squeaking was because the end piece that the screw goes into had broken off from the rest of the short brush roll. And I discovered the cap that was on the long brush bar wasn't spinning easily so I switched them around and now I've got a good working long brush roll. Ultimately, I had to order a new brush bar. Great detailed video. It really gave me the confidence to take the brush bar out and check it. I also found the canister cleaning video helpful too. Thanks so much for the videos!

Figures this video shows up in my feed after I already did the same procedure. I also removed the little guide rollers because they were packed with hair with a U shaped pick and also removed the dust covers on the roller bearings, cleaned them and re-packed with lithium grease then reinstalled the dust covers. Super quiet and smooth now like it used to be when it was new.

Very good video and detailed. Just what you need for proper maintenance of the brush head. I bought a second hand machine and actually went as far as removing the motor and assembly which was full of hair and grit. The difficult thing is remembering how to put pack together but take regular photos and you should. E ok. You would only need to do this in extreme circumstances. Took me about 3 hours. Brush head as good as new. I also oiled the brush bearings. Hope this helps.

Thank you for this! I just cleaned my UP14 thoroughly except for this part. I didn't do it because I wasn't sure I could do it properly. Now I can! Only thing that might be helpful is to list in your description the tools used. It'd make it easier for us so we could get our tools together prior to doing this and be able to go through the video with you non-stop. But that's just me. 😆 Thanks again & God bless you and your family.

Exceptional resource!!! My floor tool for the D66 started sounding like a jet plane - terrible vibration and noise but the brush bar seems to spin just fine. I was able to use this video, and with some borrowed torx tools I took the brush bar assembly completely apart - there was all kinds of hair stuck in the ends and the very inner spindles - it looked brand new by the time I was finished cleaning it out and reassembled. Sadly my jet plane noise is STILL happening. I am 3 months off warranty - It took 2 phone calls and some pleading but Dyson agreed to send me a new floor tool assembly no charge ....do you think a brand new floor tool will fix the issue or is a loud and noisy vibrating floor tool a symptom of a bigger issue 😬.
@richardsvacuumcenter
@richardsvacuumcenter 3 года назад
Hmmm based on your description that sounds like you could have a blockage. However, It’s nearly impossible to properly diagnose a vacuum issue without seeing it in person. Perhaps taking in to your local vac shop for an estimate might be a good option. Best of luck sir!

Great video. I wish I had watched this before taking my UP13 apart. How does one go about replacing the wheels on the soleplate and specifically the one wheel that's under that center bearing assembly? Thanks, in advance.
@richardsvacuumcenter
@richardsvacuumcenter 3 года назад
Unfortunately that wheel isn't something that you can even purchase. :/ The way it's designed, depending on the version you have, the whole motor assembly must be removed, then the belt cover needs to come off. The axle is sandwhiched between the two black cases that hold the drive assembly. But since the wheel and axle are not available, it's kind of pointless to attempt to replace it. Most break and fall out before that anyways.

I just posted a new video detailing that center wheel clean out. Working on uploading another one because there is two different ways the must be taken apart based on the model number

@richardsvacuumcenter
@richardsvacuumcenter 2 года назад
Sounds like the motor is bad. If copper pieces fell out that’s a bad sign.
@mattrika4874
@mattrika4874 3 года назад
Excellent video! I take it that after cleaning like you showed, if the head will still not spin then the bearing has seized? I noticed when dis-assembling and re-assembling that I didn't need to use the pliers and the brush would not move. Hoping I don't have to replace the whole expensive head unit.
@richardsvacuumcenter
@richardsvacuumcenter 3 года назад
That is correct. If the head does not spin, then you likely have a seized bearing and replacing the brushroll assembly is the next step for you. Before you do that, you can attach it to the vacuum with the brushroll removed and turn it on (and put the unit in the back position with the carpet mode on) to be sure the motor is indeed spinning. If it is then order a new brushroll.

@richardsvacuumcenter

You can wash it as one assembly. I use specific brushes and pressurized water to get into cracks and crevices. It always turns out looking great when I do it that way. I don't personally recommend taking that assembly apart.

Hi, i just bought brand new purple brush for my DC55 from Dyson and successfully replaced it but unfortunately it keeps stopping after i start the vaccum, it spins for maybe 1sec and then stops! Have i missed something? or do i have to replace the complete removable power cleaner head? And this is the best video on YT for cleaning up the Dyson's power cleaning head Thank You so much.
@richardsvacuumcenter
@richardsvacuumcenter 3 года назад
Yeah unfortunately you may have seized up inner bearings which is causing the motor to trip off. I can’t guarantee that till I could see it and test it myself so just know that it’s a guess. It may be worth paying a local vac guy to confirm that before you invest in a whole new head.

@@richardsvacuumcenter Thank you for your quick reply, today i have disassemble it and cleaned it inside out but unfortunately it's still the same. But you were correct as there was lot of buildup of hair in the inner bearings which may have caused seized up inner bearings and it looks like all that buildup of hair may have caused damage to the motor which i also cleaned but no luck for me as it's still same😬. the bearings are not available from dyson however the entire brushroll assembly is including new bearings. if the bearings have failed, in many cases the plastic around the bearings is deformed from too much heat so it necessitates an new brushroll anyways. hope that makes sense.
