Well Nathaniel we know more about that now. Miles wanted Carr to vacate his office at U of M and step away from the program. Michigan man Carr refused sending the program into darker times. This is after he was lucky enough to inherit the program ready to win a National Championship thanks to Moeller. He then squandered several very talented teams. Carr is the problem that caused this and I never understand why U of M fans let him off the hook. He drowned your program and his personal relationships (look up the history surrounding Llyod's wife) blocked Miles from coming. He still considered it, but Carr wouldn't step back from the program because him and Miles hate each other. There you go, unfortunately Kirk Herbstreit isn't to blame. It is two supposed Michigan men that don't see eye to eye and couldn't put the program first.
Valenti nailed it. This was supposed to be the year Harbaugh finally puts all the pieces together and wins the big games. No more excuses, not if you're being portrayed as the savior and paid the huge bucks.
@@KA-vl5jq My reply was 5 years ago. At the time it was 100% relevant and truthful. I'm super happy for Harbaugh's success since. But go ahead and act like a 5 year-old with your silly taunt.
@@jeffg1524 it’s not a taunt it’s the truth. Michigan still won the way Harbaugh coached , run first and run last . The hate from Valenti and others was because they knew if the y didn’t get him out of there Michigan was gonna coached to a national championship. So Valenti wasn’t right he was just hating
To me the most important part of this commentary is that the Harbaugh who dominated at San Diego, completely built a Stanford program out of scratch, and won well over 50% of his games in the NFL is not our Harbaugh. That Harbaugh is gone. This is an Invasion of the Body Snatchers Pod People version of Jim Harbaugh coaching Michigan right now. I truly can't believe that I am saying this, but I genuinely now do not expect him to be our coach by 2020. He probably gets one more year after this one unconditionally but that's all. With that said, if the wheels really come off the wagon this year (6-6 or worse) then I could see some kind of mutual parting of ways happening. The fan base is getting really impatient and tired of excuses.
Spot on Mike. And I am delighted ED Warinner is now at Michigan. He was horrible as an offensive coordinator at Ohio State. He cost us the MSU game in Columbus and a chance of back to back national championships. I hope Mr. Kahki pants promotes Ed and lets him call the plays. What a perfect combination, Ed with the Maze and Blow. Look at the schedule. They are going to be hard pressed to be bowl eligible this year. Maryland just might beat them and Northwestern on the road is a toss-up. Time to sell your Dockers stock!
@@MatthewHackett Well Matthew, it appears Urban still holds the deed to the state of Xichigan!. Not only did we win but made you look terrible. I want to personally thank the khaki boy for calling such a predictable game. Run Higgdon which wasn't working and going man on our receivers. You got exposed in the Indiana game and the thought it was going to work against OSU was borderline maniacal. Please put some salve on your backside, that was a pretty good spanking you took.
@@czar6127 Oh we really got "exposed" all of Michigan best players on defense were injured. I love how Ohio State fans blame Ed Warinner for the loss to MSU and Ezekiel Elliot crying like a baby because he didn't get enough carries. He didn't get carries cause he got shut down lol
@@MatthewHackett Now who is crying the blues? What defensive players? Winovich? Gary? That "great" D-line? I saw all of them playing. Yeah, I saw one man go down, but I could bring out the same hankie and cry Bosa. Next man up. I'm in Tampa so I will be seeing you at the Outback bowl!
@@czar6127 You aren't even in Ohio dude lmao and also we are going to the Rose bowl or fiesta bowl I'd rather play in the Rose bowl but I'd love to play UCF in the fiesta so we can show the nation that they are shit
Irish fan here and I gotta agree with you.. Michigan OL looks so horrible! Not saying ND DL dont deserved any credit but damn less than 1 yard per carry for Michigan? This cant happened at Michigan. Especially the first week of the yr when you have all of off season to prepare for ND. The other thing I take away from this is that ND didn't have a good game either and Michigan still couldn't do anything on offense. I know Brian Kelly went conservative in the 2nd half bc I dont think ND felt any pressure and/or fooled by Michigan offense. BK just wanted to run the ball, run the clock out, minimized offensive turnovers and play good ND defense. Michigan offense came up with only a total of 10 points? Michigan last TD took like 4 mins to score when there was only like 6 mins left in the game? Any team up by double digit scores will take that anyday of the week. Michigan got the game to 7 points but it felt to me like ND won 24-3.
Full disclosure- I've been a Notre Dame since mid 80's. I've also been a Chicago Bears since mid 80's. I've always liked Harbaugh. I think JH is a good coach. Just needs to adjust. I'm happy with the outcome of Saturdays game big time. Skip Bayless doesn't ever admit when he's incorrect. At least Colin Cowherd admitted he was wrong and gave ND some credit. Good video. Thanks.
He just needs to adjust, except he hasnt adjusted since Jed Fisch left as OC. Last year and now this year, his blind stubbornness to run the ball no matter what like we have an Alabama type O-line is ludicrous. The route concepts are a complete joke when they do pass, never a reciever running farther than 10 yards, with alot of 1 WR looks on 3rd and long. Its absolute lunacy. Hes wasting some pretty damn good defenses with this pathetic offense he's in charge of. Mike hit everything on the head.
I am a die hard Michigan fan and I would love to be optimistic but this offense has NFL talent everywhere and I keep see in guys from Michigan in the NFL..... Now I'm not saying he has stars in the NFL from this offense ......but all 3 years he has been here he's sending players to the nfl.... Plus all these QB's are looking terrible except for Jake Rudock and Dylan McCaffrey.... All these 5 star recruits and none of them are looking good
I love it how MSU fans conveniently forget about Michigan’s utter dominance over them up until 2008. They also fail to bring up our inept coaches in rich rod and no headset Hoke. Now with Harbaugh, there is no excuse. But to brag about beating us in 2016 when we gifted u that win (a 4th grader could have run that ball into the end zone) and then last year when u only managed to score 4 more points on FIVE TURNOVERS in using our THIRD STRING QB.. that is embarrassing. I actually have coworkers bragging about beating Utah State and us losing only by 7 to ND at their place. R u kidding me.! If MSU gave up 31 points to lowly Utah State, at home, u would have likely given up 50 to ND. Humble yourself! You will always be our 2nd rival, and one with an understandable inferiority complex.
U guys are a joke we own you and so does MSU u think your their big brother ok then we’re yours congrats on your national championships before you could pass the ball how can u even consider yourself a big time program you have nothing we have 2 playoffs and a national title in 4 years that’s more than u guys have since 1905
I'm not sure why this was in my suggested videos, but I'm watching it because we're about to head into conference play and we're about to come back down to earth. I'm calling L's against OSU, MSU, Wisconsin and most likely Penn State. If we go 9-3 it'll be a small miracle. There aren't enough drugs in the world to make me as delusional as the folks that brought HokeBaugh back again. I'm in for some rough Saturdays coming up.
You're right about most of this, but you're forgetting one thing. No one is giving Notre Dame credit for winning the damn game. It's all about how Michigan lost. I'm fucking tired of it. After watching MSU play on Saturday, you should be happy you don't play ND this year. We'd beat you worse than we did last year. I have a lot of respect for MSU, by the way...not so much for Michigan. Good luck to Sparty. *GO IRISH!!!!*
Unfortunately Anthony, Michigan fans are already saying that "if" the team can get on a roll Michigan could win 10 games this year. This is how delusional their fan base is. Bad O line play, bad receivers, undisciplined defense, and bad coaching. Yet they can win 10 games. If you don't believe it check Mgoblog, I'm getting some real good laughs on that website.
Who's here in week 10 saying I told you so!! 😂🤣 Michigan was playing on the road in a night game vs a good team with a new QB!!! So they took the L! Since week 1 Michigan has been dominant period! Hate it or love it! They have gotten better week by week running the same offense, the difference is kids buying, better offensive line playin and executing play calls! Patterson's ball handling is really good, his accuracy is well above average, the running game is very solid and the defense is lights out! Cmon Son!! 🤣😂Go Blue!!!
I agree and disagree with you. Major problems from Michigan are with offensive line issues. You can’t assume that Jim’s play calling isn’t affected by lack of good OL play. It takes longer than 3 years to develop an outstanding offensive line. And, ND has a phenomenal defensive line that is probably the best they will see all year. I also agree that many of the play calls are suspect, but with good tackle play the results could be much different. It is still too early to tell who this team really is. And you ask, “who gets a delay of game penalty right after halftime?”. You should ask “who gets 2 12 men on the field penalties during the same game when knowing that the team they are playing is up tempo?” Lot’s of football remaining! Go Blue!
Yeah but bringing MSU up isn't a rebuttal to what he said. You're just deflecting and trying to get the focus elswhere. Hell MSU could've flat out gotten blown out by Utah State and guess what? It wouldn't change ANYTHING Mike is saying here.
Andrew Geahan I guess you’re not understanding my point. He highlighted the delay of game penalty. Yes, it was a dumb penalty. But all teams (and coaches) do dumb things the first game of the year.
@@lanyburnett7966 You didnt understand my point. Bringing up MSU does nothing to rescue you from the fact that Harbaugh just really isn't what he was supposed to be. Right? Also, Urban won a national title in 3 years. Saban won one in 3 years. So it's most certainly not far fetched to expect an "ELITE" coach to be competing at a high level after 3 years.
He isn’t living up to the initial hype at all. But that doesn’t mean he is a bad football coach. Oh, and this year you may want to put your money on Blue in East Lansing ;). If you think that offensive line isn’t going to play much better against a lesser defensive line (MSU), then you don’t think!
@@lanyburnett7966 I'm not too worried about it. If you think MSU doesn't have a solid front 7 then you simply don't know the sport. Sure our secondary is suspect right now, but you have to have an offense to exploit it. Right now, you don't have that. Never said Jim is a bad coach. Just that he's not what anyone thought.
I’m a big Michigan fan Mike. I know you love the current state of things for Michigan, I would if it was MSU we were talking about. You spoke the truth on some of the play calling vs OSU in 2016, specifically Speight in the end zone. But u r unfortunately 100%. right. It’s shocking that this is where we r at after a promising 2016 season. He has digressed. The O line is the heart of any offense. That’s lacking..u r in trouble. So, if this continues, we r in trouble. However, you lost me with your comments re the MSU game last year and ND 2nd half this year in not putting up more because they knew Mich couldn’t catch up. Mike, THE only reason MSU won last year was our inept play calling (throwing in a rainstorm), and using 3rd string qb O’Korn (3!picks and 2 fumbles-wouldn’t hv happened with speight or Peters in). State was not more talented and should actually be embarrassed they only won by 4 pts. Just as they should be embarrassed to brag about 2016 as the punter gave u a gift. You implying that the O let up bc they knew we couldn’t catch up (we could of, but just didn’t, and MSU isnt psychic) is horseshit as our D was one of the best in the country. So I think you got a little carried away there as spartys tend to. But again, you r right on re Harbaugh. Something went afoul with him. We need an O coordinator and Pep and his $1mil salary needs to fly back to the Browns. We have more talent but can’t debelop these 4 & 5 star recruits as we have for decades. I think it starts with getting a new O coordinator, consider qb change, and cut out the trip to South Africa and focus on football-and humble yourself. They will bounce back, hopefully this year.
Alot of valid points that being said dont be surprised if Michigan beats msu. Msu was in a shootout against Utah state we played bad against a top 15 team msu didnt
I would have gone farther; even as someone who was a Michigan Fan. Even with Skip Bayless's stupid defense of Harbaugh in the NFL, even at Stanford, what "actual" games has he won? Whenever Skip says "Took the 49'ers to three back to back conference champions, and 1 Super bowl" I'd just answer "Yeah, and how many of those did he win!? He has never been able to, unless it was against Pete Carroll, to win when he needed to most. Never.
I'm sorry you guy must became Michigan fans when we hired Jim. I been a fan since 91. I will take an 8 win and bowl game every year from Michigan. I was around when we had Rich Rod and Hoke. Sorry I not going back to those days. Let me tell to all you Michigan fans saying and making videos about Jim not the right coach for Michigan. Texas, USC and ND will be at the door of Jim's house asking him to sign. The best fit for him would be USC and I beat you any money if that was to happen a lot of you Michigan fans will shoot yourself. USC will be in the CPF and Michigan will be back to winning 3 games a year under some other coach.
With the way they played they are lucky to finish above .500 and hope Ohio state don’t embarrass them. Just pray Ohio state defense does not jell by November. Just pray MSU doesn’t kill UM. Just pray Wisconsin doesn’t decide to go balls out on UM. Hell I go as far to say penn state even after struggling to app state might be even better then UM. God forbid what bowl game they go to undeservingly.
Last point about Harbaugh- name a College COACH WHO STARTED THIS MANY SEASONS WITH Qb transfer !! Again you can't find your own Qb and develops a elite Qb! Last year he single handled kill 4 careers in one season Speight/ Peterson / okorn and malzone * honorable mention shane Morrison embarrassed top recruit !! 2016 blood on Harbaugh hands
I saw this performance coming a mile away. Harbaugh just seems to be complacent simply because of the money he's making being a mediocre coach. We're past the botched punt, we're past the JT Barrett measurement. Stop making excuses for a guy that clearly doesn't give a shit about how well his program does.
As a Michigan fan this guy is right as far a Harbaugh is concerned but not necessarily the players. I hate Harbaugh's offensive scheme. Its so ancient old and outright stupid for 2 days game.
I'm 6 foot 3 and I met shea in ann arbor a couple weeks ago. Hes all of 6 foot 1 at least. That's the only thing I disagree with you on. Other than that. I agree 100% and reading that makes me sick because before this I hated your guts and never listened to you.
As a Michigan fan, I agree completely with everything you’ve said on Harbaugh. I’ll be the 1st to admit that I thought he was an elite coach. I bought into the hype and he’s proved otherwise. He’s made me such a bitter fan because he’s done NOTHING. 10 wins means nothing when your main rivals beat you each year. It also doesn’t help that Michigan is so hellbent on having a “Michigan man” coach their team(whatever the hell that means). At some point in time can he ever be put on the hot seat? It’s ridiculous the passes he gets.
It's as plain to see as the nose on this guy's face. This "beard in a pencil sharpener" offense isn't working. You might think Mike Valenti is just a second rate radio host on a decent sports talk radio station, but he's right, and if his nails-on-a-chalkboard voice makes it impossible for you to listen to the whole rant, you have your choice of a seemingly endless array of voices saying the same things...or just watch some game film 'cause yeah, it's pretty easy to spot. Heck, just look at still shots of Jim Harbaugh on the sidelines looking like a kid at a new school who's trying to find his locker.
When he was the QB coach at the Oakland Raiders the OC refused to let him work with Rich Gannon. He taught a clinic where he said throwing a football is the same as chucking a newspaper up onto a porch - his point was form doesn't matter. Just toss it however feels normal. Seriously. He said that. Go Bucks!
I listened to Mike's rant after the Outback Bowl. The gist of what he said was that Harbaugh needed to fix his offensive scheme. He obviously didn't listen. The scheme was the same as what you showed in Tampa against South Carolina. That's why they lost.
Sad but true, alas! As a die-hard Buckeye fan, I want our rival to be great every year. The outcomes of THE GAMES then will have some meaning! Like when we beat Alabama in the 2015 Sugar Bowl,
Completely agree with you as a Michigan fan except for your take on Patterson. Threw 66% with a quick accurate release, only made mistakes when 4 guys in his face.
My thing is why is he mad? The LT and RT needs to be replaced, he needs to name a OC. Shea played good some things needs to be coached like throw the ball away and not use his feet so much. They did put up 307 yards of total offense against an elite team. Other than that he is our coach and he is still better than Hoke and Rich.
drae408 after his first 2 seasons at Michigan, harbaugh has only won 2 more games than hoke did during his first 2 years, same guy the fans chased out of town but nobody is calling for harbaughs head yet
C. Rogers If you would've won...you'd be claiming that ND is elite. You'd claim a huge win. Since you lost, ND isn't elite. Michigan logic. Fuck yourself. Is Notre Dame "Alabama elite"? NO...but who else is? Fuck Michigan....FOREVER!!!!!
I'm sorry you guy must became Michigan fans when we hired Jim. I been a fan since 91. I will take an 8 win and bowl game every year from Michigan. I was around when we had Rich Rod and Hoke. Excellent point Mike on Chris Evans what the hell happened just 2 carries. Harbaugh was a deer in the headlights the game has passed him by offensively.
I agree with you that Jim needs to give the reigns of the offense to someone else, and Michigan will be WAY better off for it. However, I don't agree with you that Notre Dame just played conservatively in the second half because they thought Michigan couldn't score 21. I think ND's game plan at the beginning of the game was to take shots downfield and hope for good results and those shots DEFINITELY paid off for them, all credit to their game plan. However, they knew that they couldn't keep taking those shots all game, because eventually they would turn against them. So, they started running their normal offense, which Michigan's D was able to easily stop. Said another way, if those shots didn't pay off, I think Michigan grinds out a 17-13 win, but those shots went ND's way, so, they won. You are right, Michigan has a lot of problems, and would probably be better off with Harbaugh as the 'CEO' of the program, they need production from the offense or they will get lots of results similar to this game.
I give Harby, the end of the year. If he loses Michigan or Ohio State, HE'S DONE!!!, I'M CALLING IT NOW. As a Michigan fan, it hurt my soul to see that on the field. Hearing all this hype, made me freak out a bit, and all my concerns were shown. I'm not gonna lie, unless they get it together, it's gonna be a long season.
Definitely concerning. MSU has an innate talent for playing down to their opponents (always fun), and looking rough in the first game of the season (just as fun), so I'm not panicking yet... But I'd like to see a marked improvement this weekend.
@@blooooooooooom Yeah, it's just normal now. It's getting old though. I have to have a friggin heart attack EVERY SATURDAY. No matter the opponent. Hopefully it doesn't bite em because if Bachie doesn't make a huge play on defense, Utah State scores EASILY to win the game. I truly believe that.
He’s singing a new song now about Michigan #goblue! #6 in the nation MSU 24# everything he said wrong about Michigan is now kicking him in his nose now..😂😂😂 〽️
You are missing the elephant in the room, NOTRE DAME IS A BETTER TEAM. They have a better Defense and better Offense. Michigan only wins on special teams. Let me say it this way, if Nick Saban was on the sideline Michigan still loses. I do find it hilarious that Michigan is turning on their coach. By the way this Valenti guy has zero football experience, just an arm chair hater.
Why don’t you worry about MSU.....not being able to win a national championship...you are obsessed with Michigan because it makes you feel good about your school short comings, you barely beat Utah State at home🤔
