ive only used her S2 for a single instance which was in CC Beta. how many stars have to align to make her S2 viable

Edit: The below text is wrong because I'm dumb same with how myrtle's talent scales with her attack so it's pretty helpful in maps with passive hp drain or medic restrictions and allows for some aggressive vanguard placements to block off mob lanes. I usually won't need a medic if I have the holy trinity of bagpipe siege and myrtle in a lane.

That's actually an illusion. While yes Seige S3 has an extremely high multiplicative atk buff, it also significantly increases her ATK interval. thus, the actual benefit from buffs is much smaller than you think.

that's not true, how much it gains from buffs has no correlation to her atk interval. if anything, having high dph is better than high aspd on phys due to how the formula works. one 60% atk buff from zima makes siege's total damage bonus go from 380% to 608%. obviously not very practical to use 2 units when you could just clap stuff with a surtr or something but siege genuinely does work extremely well with buffs

My definition is the *ABSOLUTE* increase in DPS per increase in ATK, which does indeed factor in ATK interval. However, you are probably using percent increase, which doesn't. Siege does indeed have an very high percentage scaling with ATK, but due to her ATK interval, her absolute scaling is only about 1.85, which is lower than the likes of Mountain s3 (2.18) and barely more than Bagpipe s3 (1.73). A far cry from the likes of EXU at 7.7. thus, she shouldn't be your first choice of buff target.

i understood your point about lower overall dps, but what i'm trying to get at is that the skill still gains from buffs. it's not as much as her peers to the point where you'd actively want to buff her, hence why i mentioned it's not practical, but any kind of attack scale is still attack scale in the end. it's gonna end up being better with buffs than other ops by default, and that's what i think the op was trying to get at too. thanks for dropping the specific numbers though

Yeah. With melee block, ranged damage, cp generation, and self healing for her crab she can do a little of everything, which is really good in the early parts of missions. Always seems to deal and mitigate damage far better than you'd expect.

idk, i'm different here, I think the Saga with Bagpipe Comparison is better, mainly because of how similar their S3 is, while siege & Saga S2 skill works quite differently, Saga atk expands in a long cross tiles which is something That Siege doesn't have & doesn't needs to be blocked to attack, while siege needs to block to use her S2, i have not used Saga or Siege that much because i usually don't need Vangs as Myrtle can do everything alone most of the times

With Bagpipe + Flagbearers, Texas isn't a meta pick since this combo is superior due to having the edge on instant DP (near instant S1 for Myrtle) and DP over time (14 DP per 30 secs for Myrtle, 18 DP per 34 secs for Elysium, 12 DP per 40 secs for Texas). The combo is also a hell of a lot cheaper on the DP economy than a Texas + Bagpipe combo due to the cost of flagbearers. Meta favors deploying core operators ASAP more than having Vanguards stay on the field longer than they should be, which makes the damage and stun inconsequential when Bagpipe can pretty much obliterate early waves and gain 2 DP per kill while having explosive damage and virtually no DP cost.

@@Revoltine I get that, but I feel that Texas should still have been worth a mention because for people who don't have high potentials on Myrtle and/or Elysium, Texas' passive might be able to allow them to start immediately without a need for high potentials. And if the map starts you with 4 DP and has DP gen down, Texas' passive really helps start the engine even faster.

@@Revoltine Now, Texas actually sees use in high risk cc as a sort of P. Red sidegrade (when paired with p5 bagpipe, texas S2 is ready 1 second after deployment), but otherwise yes she is uncommon as a standalone vanguard now.

@@ifyouwantmoneythengivemeev8094 See, this is why I don't talk about high risk CC cuz the likes of Texas and Aak get into the mix and what's "meta" and "niche" becomes so muddied. It's an extremely specific niche, and in the case of Texas, her talent is phenomenal in DP down tags. In this case, yes, she is meta for very specific scenarios.

If you are really really wanting something passenger can do that's unique, he can do a super duper long range attack with the 5 bounce s2 if enough enemies are there and spaced far enough apart...but it will end up doing effectively no damage due to the damage reduction per bounce; leizi s2 is probably better for that despite shorter range because it does more than mildly tickle an enemy, but that niche is so rarely useful that it isn't worth it even in somebody's wildest drrams

you still need 2 block vanguards cuz they dont lose to dog rush. the vanguard class that actually gets shafted is dp on kill (excluding esportspipe of course) you only ever need that to kill that one mob that spawns before your myrtle can print dp but still need the dp refund to have just enough to deploy that Specter you were saving dp for asap. if only they had another gimmick like a bit shorter redeploy time to make full use of their class trait as quick hole plugs

@@lofipolaroid9960 block 2 vanguards got absolutely stomped all over by the hilarious meme called mountain (mountain s2 has *literally* twice seige s2's DPS). the only ones that still see use is texas and saga, and only in high risk cc due to their talents.

I've been using a highly invested Siege for a year and a half now... and these comments are starting to worry me

@@weaboi1461 Rejoice, for 2 block vanguards are still totally playable and fine outside of high risk CC basically (I'm still using Zima/Texas to this day), it's the beauty of Arknights that everything is mostly viable. But if we're talking about meta, yeah they've got the short end of the stick with how the meta has been progressing.

Think of it like a necessary evil. Dp management felt more like a chore than actual gameplay for the majority of the playerbase, flagbearers cut that short allowing for multiple more advanced strategies that weren't even possible before (or unreasonably hard) without gutting the other vanguards entirely as they coexist with different roles. This brought a fun push and pull between "watch me 99 dp at 10 seconds" and "okay maybe I need to bring less aoe casters" with earlier pressure on the latest maps, dp down tags on Cc and the likes

@@cyanide5689 The problem I have with Flagbearers is that they are way too efficient at what they do compared to their weaknesses (weak combat capabilities and block 0 while the skill is up). And the matter has been made worse with Bagpipe's sp talent. They pretty much DID gutt most other vanguards, they are still playable of course, but realistically if we're talking about the absolute best of the best units, the flagbearer archetype alone outclasses the other vanguards minus some outliers like Bagpipe and some extremely specific scenarios. Busted units have always been a thing, but flagbearers push the matter further because the foundation of their archetype is poorly balanced. I get it Yostar wanted to create a class of vanguards that generates more DP overtime at the expense of their own combat abilities but their S1s are simply way too powerful. I would either delay the first activation of these skills so that maps can put more early pressure on the player and push him towards the other archetypes, or rebalance the entire thing to give shorter but faster bursts of DP to still allow the accelerated early game and overall better DP generation but deny the ability to deploy expensive units as early as they can be deployed right now.
