you can do a custome battle with 750 troops on mygeeto, wait at position 1 until you forces are depleted up to 20 vs 400 and if you dont respawn during the last 20 lives no bots will spawn, meaning you will be the last player on the map,i did this with a friend ...when the unit counter hit 30 we took post 5 for a better defensive position, and as rebels we beat the empire with 2 vs 327, that was hard, good old ps2 days
@@svon1I did this on Geonosis in one of the games. I was the last one standing with just one base. Took a gunship and hovered above that point. Kept switching gun positions until I beat over 100 droids.
After days of fighting, we finally broke through to the command post. We turned the corner, and were left exposed on a round catwalk. To fight so hard only to meet another meat grinder... I envy the dark troopers. At least they could survive the long fall into the courtyard.
That 'War Hero' title was very well deserved. That single Clone defended a delivery room from a horde of B1's, SBD and Destroyers. And it took Darth friggin Maul to show up to take him down.
Ironically, Darth Maul is the only hero I struggle to deal with, given how deadly his thrown lightsabre is. I can easily deal with every other force user by dive-rolling and strafing, but Maul is just too good for me.
I'll admit the Droid that was behind the door that shot you made me laugh but that was an intense battle. A war hero indeed, holding the command post for that long, changing the course of the battle and being killed in the most heroic way possible.
That made me laugh, too when it happened. I unfortunately lost the match in the end, even when I finally accepted to play as Yoda. I tried leading the Republic to a glorious win, but the Separatist numbers were too great
@keanuking2124 I believe we experienced a similar battle, but on opposite fronts. Inspired by your video I played as the CIS and my mechanical brethren marched down that hallway and captured Polis Massa, I even defeated Yoda.
@@keanuking2124of course you lost, polis Massa is the most unbalanced broken map in the entire game. Whichever side is playing as the CIS or the rebels is going to win 95% of the time. This also pretty much guaranteed that Polis Massa would be the last planet I conquered in Galactic Conquest when I was playing as a republic or the Empire
This choke point in polis massa is notorious for these type of encounters. Truly can’t recall a time where either in single player or multiplayer where this section hasn’t created some of the most hectic gameplay I’ve ever been apart of
I absolutely love it And when heroes are activated, there's also the factor of the sheer serotonin that comes from doing a saber throw in a filled hallway.
i have never once had a smooth time taking or defending that damn choke point, i try to play with as many ai as possible so it was even more of a clusterfuck
Reminds me of the Jedi Padawans on the infamous Battle of Jabiim, who actually succeeded in destroying all anti-Jedi assassin droids sent after them there, even if with the loss of all their lives save Anakin Skywalker's.
The duality of men in war exemplified. Some men will fight legendarily long and valiant last stands, holding whatever ground they can against impossible odds, and be forever immortalized as an inspiration, a hero. And some men will charge courageously into the fray only to be gunned down instantly with the first shot, never achieving anything of note, just another casualty. In every other way they are the same, in this case quite literally clones
@@hi_mom_im_on_youtube Duality of man simply refers to the way in which we, as humans, can experience two opposite ends of the spectrum simultaneously. Whether that be to hold two conflicting views in one's head, or to as a species exhibit staggering triumph and total failure.
@TheOneWhoReportsForDuty that's what frustrates me about the original Battlefront II game, the AI teammates don't actually help out with capturing or holding command posts haha
I learnt how to do this kind of thing too just because Polis Masa can get super hectic in Galactic Conquest and it used to always stop me from winning. RIP me I guess until I learnt. Well tbh I think rushing Polis Masa helped a lot too. Lol
@@keanuking2124 Exactly. The AI for the enemy are more aggressive. That's why I always liked having another human player. They would hold the spots that were least defended. Ally AI don't know how to dig in, prioritize targets, and fight like hell.
(More spawn in) You're going to need more guys ...no; better guys (Droideka spawn)... I said better guys (Magnaguard spawn)... (Darth Maul spawns) Perfection...
The opening of the video with the selection noise triggered a core memory for me. I always liked that and the sound when you selected a planet and it zoomed into the location
They originally were going to die when they went outside, but the developers realized that doesn't make sense. When you go outside as a droid, you can actually hear the Droids make noise as if they are taking damage, so that feature for them was probably removed before release
This is such a timeless game. It always felt more sandbox-ey than the newer ones, which are alright, but something about this one... The space battles, especially.
That first death was brutal, damn. There's something about this map where it seems stacked against the Republic and Empire factions, you really have to fight back against considerable odds to win there. Same goes for Heroes vs Villains, the latter rarely wins.
I accidentally left the game running while I went AFK once and came back to find I was the soul Imperial soldier left against about 40 rebels, who had stopped pursuing command posts for some reason. What resulted was my shock trooper crawling through the facility picking off every rebel in a tense stealth run, culminating in a boss fight against the last rebel on the asteroid surface in tanks. It remains my all time favourite incidental gaming experience.
@@KorriTimigan Played with my brother on this map back in the day and was on the losing Republic team as I recall. Basically ran from command post to command post the keep from losing, and somehow surviving each skirmish I got into for an impressive amount of time. Don't remember how that particular battle ended, probably lost, but it remains one of my core memories. They don't make games like this anymore, and that's sad.
Bro I miss this game so much. Having the entire lore of Star Wars at our disposal and having lore accurate guns was awesome. Like wtf EA did to the current Star Wars trilogy is unforgivable.
EA's BF2 is fun in it's own way. For example: We lost the ground battle pretty hard and the Clones infiltrated our Destroyer. The Battle seemed lost. Only one of our reactors was intact, but badly damaged and the enemy had nearly 2 minutes left to destroy it. I asked my friend to play Droideka with me and we blocked the reactor. They couldn't attack it without disabling our shields first. We did it. We saved the cruiser and, in a stunning twist of event, we started to dominate them. After that the clones were steamrolled on the planet and we destroyed their ship. Or at least we would have, if this match wasn't interrupted by a connection error seconds before their reactors were destroyed. BF2 Classic may be the better game, but BF2 EA has many heroic moments as well.
@@keanuking2124 a great place to farm it is space battles, camp on enemy ship next to health droid. after a certain number of awards you get it on spawn (after weapon swap)
Interesting enough i could see a show being made like this. A war hero clone who was the best among his ranks taking down numerous droids but when faced with a sith, he meets his end showing the true contrast of power between them. Almost like giving insight into one of the many clone troopers that have been slaughtered by a sith's blade.
Polis Massa was a wonderful map for arcade gameplay. Guard your forward command post, swivel your character from side to side, and look at the minimap to see where the red arrows were coming from. Race to that door and start blasting, kill everything, then race back to the other door that was surely being overrun by that point and clear it out. Rinse, repeat, and eventually the enemy just ran out of reinforcements and all you had to do was mop up the stragglers. Admittedly I usually played using Galactic Civil War units, so I never had to worry about droidekas.
This reminds me of the last time I was playing Galactic Conquest as the Republic. Given that even on the hardest difficulty ground battles are a crushing decisive victory for the Republic whenever I'm involved, it wasn't long before I had multiple fleets moving around the Galaxy or guarding key systems just crushing any CIS force that was attacking or defending. Most of the time, a space battle just ended in my favour and I had to literally sit and wait for my side to lose just to prolong the game. It was fun, but given how GC is designed, I was still stretched for resources, so I had to leave Kamino undefended, meaning every turn there was a battle of Kamino that I had to fight and every time it was an absolute clusterfuck of fun and chaos. I'd spawn at the furthest CP we had, move forward to the central platform, and push in the next CP, spending the next 90% of the game holding the position with tooth and nail while also trying to push up into the enemy's next CP's when I could gather enough men to form a squad. It was always cool how the battle wound down after the enemy had sustained substantial losses and it turned into a mini-manhunt as everything went quiet as it was just us, the hidden enemy and the rain. It kinda felt like I was playing through one of those fictional battles that are super-intense to begin with before finally winding down as as everyone gets exhausted, and it happened every time Kamino got invaded. I swear, it was some of the most fun I ever had just trying to edge every advantage I could get against the droids. Battlefront 2 is an amazing game, I just wish the Clone Trooper classes were more uniform.
Map is designed for the right side to win, because if you control the center command post, it spawns you forward. But if you're on the left side, your troops are spawned backwards!
An uncommon strategy I sometimes did was making a quick trek across the asteroid vacuum and capturing a control point behind enemy lines and turning the tables against them. I never did it much, since I adored the choke point struggle, but it certainly made things interesting.
There are a few biased maps like that, but that just means you learn new tactics to compensate. Control CP6, you control the map, so that should be the goal. Not trying to defend a weak position like the center.
At the edge of madness, in a time of sadness, An immortal soldier finds his home. Proven under fire, over trench and wire, No fear of death he’s unshakeable.
The entire time I was screaming "YOU JUST GOT THE AWARD RIFLE SWAP YOUR WEAPON!!" This rampage would have lasted the entire match if we switched to that God laser lol
@@joshuabonesteel2303 I agree. I've listened to the feedback of using the award rifle and although it's good for clearing squads quickly I kind of don't like using it
I always just take a tank to command post 6 on this map and do a reverse sweep of capturing command posts. The spawning on CP3 makes it very hard to defend so capturing CP6-4 and then capping 3 is so much easier.
Seeing this gameplay reminds me of why these first two games are so special to me. Movement is so imperative to gaining ground. Using your surroundings to recover, taking that precious time to reload. A strategic thermal detonator throw because getting the destroyer shield down is a number one priority. Picking up every scrap of ammo and using your resources to your advantage. Parrying into cover from suppressive fire. This game is still so fun to play all these years later.
I love how the play as Yoda didn't even last 3 seconds. Most people would be so focused they'd let it count down, but instead he actively selected No, now that's a true veteran right there.
this is like Halo Reach, u defended the delivery room so the birth of Luke and Leia could happen. Fucking historic run. you deserve a monument for your sacrifice 🫡
@@keanuking2124lmaooo yea it’s crazy how silently Maul showed up almost like he just spawned right there, you were doing so good the game had to throw a curve ball atcha
The choke points were always the most fun for just this reason. I remember games where I spent the whole match fighting at one spot, and win or lose it was always an experience.
My older brother and i would play this on instant action, and then we would switch over to galactic conquest and would spend hours not realizing how simply awesome those times were.
This is the equivalent of that one moment from the 2D Clone Wars series where Fordo says "Sector 4 needs reinforcements. We are being overrun.", and then proceeds to be the reinforcements.
Polis massa was one of the hardest maps to get a footing in. This battelfront is better than anyone that came after it. This intensity was normal in this game. Absolutely brutal
I still play this game from time to time with my original save on the original xbox. Over 200k+ kills. The gameplay is just too good even if the graphics are old. Truly a timeless game.
Even now as an adult i play this game and struggle to hold command post 3. It is the most crucial part of the map. If a single Droid or Rebel crosses from there you surely lose command post 2 and then probably everything. If you fight long enough to hold 3 then you might push to capture 4 and then you win!
Does anyone know what the formula was for calculating the number of reinforcements left? The less command posts you had the quicker they depleted. There seemed to be a lot of calculated off screen deaths, more so in battlefront 1
@@keanuking2124 Reckon? I always assumed your team's reinforcements just dropped faster because you yourself are a massive advantage so it balances out. and like i said, capturing CPs is worth while because it makes your enemy's reinforcements deplete faster. Otherwise on some maps it's probably and advantage only holding one CP. Much more noticeable on BF1 - youd have 200 reinforcements that went down to 5 yet you add up the kills each enemy got, it came to like 70
If you control less than 50% of the CPs, they begin to deplete automatically by 1 every 3 seconds or so, independent of actual kills. They don't deplete faster as you lose more ground that way, but you likely lose more actual units to the enemy as you get more and more cornered. This is easy to see in action if you remove bots entirely.
I remember back in '05, that place was just a flurry of death. Frags everywhere, and if you got past the mass fragging in the hallway, the engineers would usually be waiting just past the corner or in the little room with a CP. Detpacks got the survivors and shotguns mopped up everyone else. It was absolute chaos.
