Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I love the layout, as opposed to off the back or with tubing, etc. Looks like an old Thompson machine gun and not like a paint ball launcher, as when off the back. Great work.

For some reason RU-vid chose to hold this comment. I do like the placement of the cartridge but the 90g is a little long. I plan on trying some different orientations to see if we can streamline it a little more.

My bad. I like the setup of the 16g. I could see how the 90g cartridge would be a little too big, even for my taste.. @@lesslethalfordummies

Wouldn't that be nightmare to pull a gnarly looking m17 and ball doink out the barrel 😂it wouldn't be funny in a situation but as plinker i can laugh but yes those wixon detents revived m17 and cqmf which you are a guru on.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
I owe that to Wixon for sure. I wanted detents for so long and no one would bite. Sure there were some great diy detents but at the end of the day 3d printing is a repeatable process then everyone can use them. Ball drops are no bueno if you are ever in need but were a fact of M17 life for so long that you cant help but laugh.

Great job Sean! Makes sense that a expansion chamber that size would help with overall reliability. Also the fact the canister stays in a vertical position must be relevant when it comes to keeping most liquid Co2 outside the marker... Do you think using a remote line is viable with this setup? How do you think the line would fair when exposed to such low temperatures? Do you think we may see a setup like your Frosty M17, with the canister fixed to the picattiny rail, making a comeback? Just food for thought... Keep the content coming, can't wait to see where this Co2 rabbit hole leads you to.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
For sure the vertical position helps with the larger canister. Actually just keeping the cartridge below the line of the firing system is beneficial. I did run this vertical directly in my Fsc at one point and had the same issue with blown orings. A remote line is a great way to dissapate cold and allow proper expansion to gas. Longer the better. AirgunNinja spoke about the use of remote lines with co2 in the comments section. There may be a variation of Frosty in the future but that may happen with the Tmc since it loves co2 without any mods and is much more one handed wieldy due to its lightweight.
@truska3889
@truska3889 11 месяцев назад
@@lesslethalfordummiesDidn't the TMC do fine with the canister straight in the marker? Why would you do a remote setup with it?
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
The Tmc did work fine straight into the marker. The reason i might do a remote with it is just to eliminate the buttstock and make it more of an ar pistol.

Got a question ? What’s the adapter connected to the stock
@kobusvanrensburg4092
@kobusvanrensburg4092 11 месяцев назад
OK here goes. At 20deg C a 12g CO2 cartridge at 900psi will need an expansion chamber of 6.5cu inches. I'm converting between mm /inches/ psi/mpa etc so I might have gotten it wrong. But that is likely the correct answer for the size of the expansion chamber you will need.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
Now thats something i would like to learn more about. How did you determine that calculation? Is 6.5ci for full expansion of an entire co2 cart? This could be very useful moving forward with co2.
@kobusvanrensburg4092
@kobusvanrensburg4092 11 месяцев назад
@@lesslethalfordummies I asked the same question to our resident mech engineer. The gas can expand to infinity, and will loose "power" the more it expands. You want expansion, but just enough to avoid liquid entering the system. That 6.5ci volume is for 20deg C which is typically "interior" /room temp.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
Makes perfect sense and explains why i lost so much power on my Hdp50 with an expansion chamber. Coupled with the extra room the Umarex already had on board in the grip it was over expanded to the point of a loss in energy.

Would you rely on the modded paintball marker for Home Defense? Or a purpose-built launcher like the Gavel?? And are you going to review a Gavel? (..you should review a Gavel..😅 )
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
Some of the paintball rifle platforms i have are more then capable of sustained LL fire and have proven very reliable. I am not sure i would consider the Gavale as home defence. It was designed with the intention of a carry on person device. Could it be used as a dedicated home defence option….absolutely. I may pick up a Gavale in the near future especially now since they lowered the price. It is much more appealing.

Also what do detents change? I've only seen the clinging looking things that I got no idea would change the performance of the marker.
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 10 месяцев назад
The mags use the factory Valken smg magwell. Rockstar or Valken stock it usually. I am using Tipx mags but they do require a slight modification. A detent is what holds each shot of your ball in the breech. Without them your balls would just all roll out the barrel. A good detent is a must for a reliable marker. Wixon.shop sells the best detents in the business for the M17/Cqmf.

@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
To be determined but this test went better then any other i have performed with the large cartridges of co2. I will continue testing. Co2 can and will cause long term damage so that is always something to be mindful of no matter the size of the cartridge. The M17 is a pig on air and it should be noted co2 is no different and these are expensive here in Canada.

@poopoosplatter99
@poopoosplatter99 11 месяцев назад
@@lesslethalfordummies I dunno. I dealt with CO2 for years. So many problems went away switching to HPA from inconsistent shots, to seal issues from liquid, to having to get them filled. Once I got a HPA compressor and spare tanks there's no going back lol I'm just razzin' ya tho 😆 keep making your vids they're all great!
@lesslethalfordummies
@lesslethalfordummies 11 месяцев назад
@@poopoosplatter99 hpa is awesome and once you have a compressor its a no brainer. Co2 gets expensive but can be stored indefinitely so it may be the best option for some. I dont think it serves my purpose for plinking every other day but i will continue testing for reliability.
