How would any of us know that they are Valyrian steel using our naked eye looking at the screen? The only reason why we know that something is Valyrian is when a character in the book or show says so.

If true, it is highly impractical. Melt down the decorations and you can arm dozens of men with Valyrian steel axes better than any normal sword.

Valyrian steel is probably more common than people think considering Euron pulls up with a shit ton of Valyrian Steel daggers in the books. Granted he did come from Old Valyria, but considering just how big the Empire was there probably is a lot of Valyrian Steel all throughout Essos. I'd guess it's not necessarily super rare, just that people know it's now a non-renewable resource so they're unwilling to part with it.

Someone lmk if I’m wrong but what made steel Valerian steel was the technique of smithing with magic. There is no way these were actually Valerian steel unless Aegon made sure to save, and ship said chairs to the seven kingdoms. Presumably he brought a number of valerian smiths with him during his conquest but still that would be a stupid waste of materials.

- maesters make Valyrian steel chain links - in GoT two guys can rework Valyrian steel for sure - it’s probably just a bitch to work with. This isn’t making a new sword from raw materials, all it would require is a way to cut or grind the metal (doesn’t matter how powerful a metal, we can carve stone with wood if we want to) and some elbow grease

Also, y’all. Forging a sword isnt the same as general blacksmithing or cold hammering. Not only do we know for a fact 2 guys by GoT can rework vs, a bunch of maesters also do. As for amounts the scales AND the corners (there’s no way in shit they’re solid corners) probably amount to less than a war dagger. Likely much less.

Also I don’t get why people watch GoT hear the swords are rare and thing there’s no materials to make more they have a suit of armour somewhere and multiple things that have it within it thousands of chains for maesters that know about magic or focus their learning on magic (1 in 100 roughly get that) and the countless pieces of furniture and art it’s only the reforging and making stuff with it that is lost to time

Gold is rare, but’s there’s a lot of it. Yes Valyrian steel is very rare, yet we are closer to the conquest, we are closer to ancient Valyria which means there’s still people who know how to work the metal. Just because something is rare, doesn’t mean someone doesn’t have a lot of it. It’s just a monopoly, and once they run out they just have to smelt the old.
