I'm 62 years old, when I was 22 in 1982 I factory ordered a black swb dodge van with a factory 4spd on the floor. I also got the gutless 318 2bbl. was able to order quad headlights and factory cloth captains chairs. The van had no windows, and opening side doors. It is so cool to see guys finally building old school vans again. It seems to me there are very few surviors out there. You guys do outstanding work. I built mine in my parents driveway. Back then there were shops that sold everything you could ask for.
Damn, just seeing that van with the retro "real"parts ,the k mart fogs and such....lot of memories man. Really nicely done drive train with the scoop and other parts. Dig the gear banging, drag tire, awesome.
Thanks. Thats why we just started another 1 2 months ago and this time recording everything. Wish we started our channel sooner but live and learn. Thanks for watching.
That thing is cool. I was teenager in the 70's and had a 66 Dodge flat nose van that I did some of the same things to, forgot about all of the little gadgets. Thanks for refreshing my memory!
This is THE BEST modern classic kustom van I've seen yet! It has almost every element of the 70's offerings for the scene then! Lol I was 10 in 78. So NEAT!
I was 6, lol. Thanks, good to see people appreciate the effort put into finding some of these parts, or making them, like we did with the bubble windows. Thanks for watching and who knows, maybe we will do another van...
@@CrossCountryGarage You should definitely do another one. Idea for you...They made those Dodge Tradesman vans all the way to 02 or 03?? I'm a short w/b guy but anyway, it may be easier to source and some of the vintage stuff may be "easier" to adapt, install or fab. Sidepipes & Slots for (van) life! Keep on truckin'!!
We are looking forward to the next one as well. Vans are awesome, no rules (unlike some of the other classics we work on) unfortunately due to covid, our next one got pushed back a month but no fears, bought a new car yesterday will be working on and filming intro video today. Thanks for watching.
Thanks, only regret was wish we started our channel a little sooner. Best part about the van, theres no rules. Tons of things we wish we recorded. Have fun and document it.
@@CrossCountryGarage mine is currently down to metal primer ready for paint and all the parts for the outside, lights, grill, bumpers, etc are all inside it, along with 3 sets of captains chairs and a couch/bed. It's going to be the biggest project i've ever done. Kinda like a huge puzzle. I hope you don't mind if i use you as a resource when i'm stumped on things. Much love.
Another van on the way. Just drove 650 miles yesterday for the correct sidepipes, lol. Videos already edited so you will see some progress real soon. Thanks for watching.
I'm just laughing because we both have old school Vans and own a Hummer H2. Great minds do think alike...loving it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fun is more like it. Between the 20+ cars the 2 if us own, this seems to get the most attention (broadest range at least. From old people to little kids, all love it) thanks for watching.
TRULY BADASS & MOTIVATIONAL RIDE !!!! I have a few questions in regards to your build I know you said the rims are 8.5 F 10 R is that on 15s ? Also do you know the offsets ? Do you have any rubbing at all? And Do you sell the bubble tail lights & side markers or know where I can get a pair? I love them Thanks for any info I greatly appreciate it
Not sure about the offsets but did rub with 2" drop spindles so we put the stock ones back on. As far as the bubbles go, we are not selling them yet but possible in the future. We literally just made another set for the next van which you can see in our latest video (And the oval windows in that vid just sold on ebay for $500, which was a good deal for someone). Thanks for watching.
We did the ceiling after the walls, small 1/2" screws with caps directly into the roof ribs, spaced them probably 18" apart. For us it didn't matter what went 1st, because we left a 1/2" gap to run the LEDs. I would do ceiling 1st if not leaving a gap so walls could somewhat support it. Thanks for watching.
Since you asked is there anything else we may like to see is there any footage of going and buying the van, bringing it home, and going over it before you started? I know always like to see that kind of stuff, essentially a video series from the absolute beginning step by step to completion. If that footage is out there and I just haven’t found it please excuse me. I just came across your channel and subscribed,You guys did an amazing job!
Unfortunately we didn't even start our channel until March. We kind of figured we're going to be doing work anyway so might as well throw a camera down and record it . We always have end credit scenes (after the very 1st few videos that is) which a lot of people probably do not know about, but if you watch vandemic lost footage, the very 1st engine start of the van is at the very very end. Also, we are now starting projects from the very beginning if you see some of our most recent vehicle videos. As far as buying process, once the hummer sells we will be getting another vehicle, which i will try to record buying. Thanks for watching. P.s., make sure to watch the end credit for blowing van portholes, my personal favorite.
Vanner inc, vans 71-79,g10 vans, custom 60s-80 vans, the more the better, think we are in about 10 van groups (along with a ton more if you see our other projects). Stay tuned starting another van later this year. Thanks for watching.
They all work fine. That was a JVC head unit with a $20 camera from Ebay but even the cheap chinese head units work good. I think we had to lengthen the camera wire though as it was a long run.
Probably not the cross but possibly the lights. We are starting to make replacement acrylic for windows, right now we have a round template and a tear drop, just pull the outer gasket and replace old tinted ones, shouldn't even have to take the frame out of the van. We have a set of round blue ones with about a 3" rise that we will probably throw on ebay today. If you watch our porthole video, they are the same as those but the ones in the video had a 4" rise (they went to Scotland and they had the frames). Thanks for watching.
Would love a more detailed video on a "how to gullwing door". Just put some 295s in the rear and now plan to gullwing it because of the sliding issue. Also didn't know about the hinge either needed at the bottom of the gullwing. Van looks great. Many many hours on it you can tell
Unfortunately it wasnt until after we gull winged the door (and had a few beers) that we decided to start recording stuff for our channel. We definately missed out on some cool content with that but thanks for the comment.
@@CrossCountryGarage you also mentioned in the video anything anyone had questions about and needed details to comment and ask. That's the only reason I brought it up and thought to ask, so I'd get more details about it
@@shtfvan8084 you will need a 1/2" x 12" piece of steel (cut in half for 2 6" pieces) to fill the channel at the top of the door, 2 4" hinges that you can grab at lowes or home depot (1 side will get cut to fit on the top. Other side that connects to the door you will have to cut and weld into an "L"). We made our mounting brackets out if steel stock but i will look and try to find you a link, then purchased the struts, ball ends and clasps off amazon, and i will look for those links when I get home.
I have a 77 dodge but i love this chevy😳 Im planning to gullwing my slider. Where did you source you gas struts from???? What force rating are they. Which hinges did you use?
185lb struts from Amazon. 36" ones. Hinges are just regular door hinges we cut (and welded a little 90 degree into) and got the ball ends from amazon as well and made little brackets. We are doing another van in the fall with more in depth gull wing and bubble videos. Stay tuned.
@@julianchavez3372 door closes just fine. (1 handed no less) We had a pair if 90 lbs at first and they only held the door open half way. I just ordered 2 more sets because next van, back door getting gull winged also.
Door weather stripping got from ebay, 1aauto, around $135. As far as windows, best bet is to find a pair on marketplace or ebay. Sometimes facebook van groups but people know what they have and are expensive. Good luck.
Alot of fabrication for those. We might in the future (have sold a couple pairs of the round ones), just busy with other builds at the time. Thanks for watching.
In one of your videos you showed putting on the actuator that was electric on the gull wing side door and also do you have a video showing that you made the back doors into gull wings I was wondering why did you go with the barn doors on the back when you made a video showing them as gull wings?
Fronts 235/60/15, rears 275/60/15. Honestly dont remember if we had drop spindles on it at the time. Had to take them off as it was too low with the tired springs. Drop spindles are now on other van we are rebuilding, Free Candy.
@@CrossCountryGarage All right bro no problem, nice work on it though it looks awesome, update the channel with another video of the progress on the other one. Keep Van in!
@@CrossCountryGarage If you're looking for a blank canvas there's an all original G20 cargo on FB marketplace in NY/PA/ No motor/trans, was taken out when new, it has 93 miles on it. yes, 93!!!! to say it's in amazing shape is an understatement.
Anything other than stock is the shit. Train horns are an easy option. 1 thing we forgot to show is the air tank and compressor mounted underneath for the air ride.
We were able to source them out from a local vanner we got the originals from. Our original count we didnt have kick panels near your feet and that is what threw us off. Thanks for watching.
All in close to 6k. I would guess. The bed is in Havasu where the van is now, its a dinette out of a camper. Wasn't worth shipping to the east coast and needed the "bedroom" area for storage on the way back. Thanks for watching.
@@kendallsmith1458 Keep in mind we didnt touch the motor really, although have vids coming out this week of the rebuild. She barely made it back to Lake Havasu, lol.
Not currently selling them as we are too busy with other projects. We do have a complete tutorial video making them if you wanna give it a shot. So far 2 people we are aware of have been successful at reproducing bubble windows. Thanks for watching.
The ghetto charger is the completely useless air cleaner with the triple butterflies. Although useful in a car like the black charger from fast and furious, due to where the motor is at in the van it probably robs a little horsepower, but looks damn cool doing it, lol. Thanks for watching.
@@CrossCountryGarage LOL, thanks for the reply. I suspected something like that but as you say great visuals. Sometimes you just do it cause it looks great.
Guys I hate to bust your bubble but I did the CHEVY BOW TIE WALL 16 Years ago I'll post a picture I still have the 4 time winner of some Truckins from ALL the place send me a way to contact you guys Cherokee Rob PEACE ✌ Nc.
No bubble busted at all. Thats awesome. We are a few years late to the party so pretty much everything we did to vandemic and are currently doing to free candy has no doubt been done. Well, almost anything. You can contact us at mossmailbox@aol.com. thanks for watching.
Awesome van. Shiity name. Noone wants to think about that bolognavirus bullshit or the crimes and attrocities of our joke government against their own citizens. Awesome how youve got cannonball run playing as you show all the great details of this amazing van. Why not name it "Chaos" after Captain chaos. Or "Chaos Revenge" Because with a van like yours he just couldnt lose this time. Ive been thinking of ideas for my 95 chevy cargo van and u guys definitely have my taste. Those transam mirrors are awesome. Ive had like 9 of those bandit transams in several different years. I had a sick mirror that went completely across the whole front that you could see so great with. I loved it. Love the leather pleated stuff. It doesnt get better. Cant wait to see the seats when theyre done. Mines a work truck/ custom truck. Id truly be in heaven if i could get it anywhere near half as cool as yours. Love the paint and everything else. ❤❤
I'll check it out. You guys are a dangerous tag team for vanners to compete against. Modern day cannonballers lol. All you need is a Farah Fawcett like hottie. You two can be Victor/Chaos and JJ and I'll be the doctor that gets to examine her while you're speeding cross country in that beast. 😂 You can keep the million dollar winnings. I just wanna live in that dream. You guys rule ❤
