@@remyazharyyosef1811 I've got you beat more-LOL I became mesmerized since with the " Right Stuff" became obsessed at "Darlin I".. timeless and sophisticated ballad which she not only "sang" but performed her ass awf in that one. Comfort Zone served some timeless hit and otherworldly lewks. Not a single peer could compete with her in those days.

Agreed. Even the original tempo is a bit fast for my liking - this song needs some evocation at the tail end. I always feel that the 'you can own the earth and still, all you own is earth until' should build to a crescendo with a hold on the last note. they missed an opportunity with that. Vanessa Williams is poised and polished and elegant, as always, but somehow I think the song needs something more. Possibly either 'more of a performance' or by showing some vulnerability in the voice.

I believe it was the Academy's doing. They were trying to shorten the time here and there, especially in the music department, even if the musical performances are one of the main reasons people watch this show 🤷🏻‍♀️

First of all, the original singer is Judy Kuhn. So, it's natural that the both versions would sound different (nobody can compare to Judy Kuhn). Also, the Oscars are live, so you have to adequate the song to the time they give you.

This is my favorite Disney song and I wonder if they were trying something new with this sped up tempo. Either way it just butchered this song up and they should have stuck with the original.

I agree, Kuhn is a much better vocalist, I wish they had done something like they did with Celine & Angela Lansbury where they both sang it. Just Around the Riverbend should’ve been nominated too! Because then both women could have a chance at solos. It’s a disappointment to not have Judy exposed to the world in this way with her live singing, because it’s stunning she’s my favorite Disney Princess singing voice, easily up there with Lea Solonga.
