Got Vape Mod with removeable batteries and want to know a bit more about these incredible pieces of technology? Then take a look at this.
If you prefer to stay within the Continuous Discharge Rating (CDR) of your cells, the maxiumum vaping Wattage per cell can be approximated by multiplying the CDR (in Amps) by 3
So for example a 20A CDR cell can be used for 60W in a single cell device or 120W if two are used in a dual cell mod.
This takes the cell Voltage as 3, which is low for a Li-ion, but also takes into account inefficiencies in the mod (i.e. regulation, boost converters and so on). Even so, I still imagine that it's a slightly conservative rule of thumb which errs on the side of safety.

Good stuff, yes the CDR rule-of-thumb assumes battery Voltage of 3, (Volts x CDR Amps= Watts) which is a bit low but it kinda takes into account the inefficiencies of the vape in the Voltage conversion. Whatever, it seems to work safely enough. Best wishes Chris.

No worries xenu and good luck with your journey. In fact my Dad used to say thousandths of an inch, but since everthing went metric we now have double the amount of ways to measure. For example, we buy our petrol in litres but fuel consumption is quoted in miles per gallon. Room sizes are often measured in meters, but aircraft height still in x1k feet. And some road signs still show yards. We should have left everything as it was!

So if I get a protected (one with a bud on the anode side) 18650 it might not fit my z80 ?

Correct, I'd be very surprised if you were able to properly fit the battery cap with a protected 18650 inserted.. And even if you did manage a hack to get it to swich on, as soon as you tried using powers higher than a few Watts the mod would either cut out with a low battery alert, or scale the delivered power right back to the meagre amount allowed by the protection circuit within the battery. As I mentioned in the video, protected cells are intended for lower powered devices like torches. They just don't provide enough welly for vapes.

Just order two "Samsung 25R"s and keep the power you set on the Aegis X to 120W or less. Order from Fogstar (if you're in the UK), if not then use Google and trustpilot (or whatever your equivalent is)

My question is, with new batteries, should we charge before use? Or use before first charge? Or does it matter?

Not a bad question actually, and this is not stipulated by any manufacturer's specs I've ever looked at. So you can treat new cells as you would any in its current state of charge. IME new cells arrive in a fairly random state of charge so if you're going to store it for a while before use, then get to a charge level that is recommended for storage. If you're going to use it immediately, esp if part of a multi-cell pack then you might want all to be fully charged and balanced. I know there are common instructions to fully charge cells for like 12 hours or more before first use, but as far as I can establish, this is total nonsense.

I just purchased an Aspire Nautilus Prime X, it is the very first time I have had to add a battery, I normally buy the e-cigs with the batteries included, I vape with 1.8 BVC coils (which I used with my Nautilus Prime) I am desperate to find the best possible battery for this device, can you help me?

Well google says that the Prime X takes a single 18650, and all the other info you need is in the video. To recap, look for an unprotected 18650 with over 15A CDR (should safely give you around 45W) and preferably over 20A CDR (for about 60W) and stick to reputable makes and vendors. Check before buying from lygte's or Mooches resources and the manufacturer's data sheet.

Hi, if you're using it for deems then I'd say any unprotected 18650 Li-ion cell with a Continuous Discharge Rating of 25A or higher would be good. For example the Sony VTC-5a or Molicel P28A.

Minty. Iv got my geekvape aegis solo body ... and some 18650 batteries and a recharger .... dam batteries are just a few mm to big. Im assuming these are 'protected' ... can these be made to fit in my vape? ... and if so can a man completely new to this crazy technical vape world do this??

Hiya mate, you don't want to hear this but if you have protected batteries (and it sounds like you do) then the best thing do do is order some unprotected ones for your Solo instead. Even if you could magically shrink the battery to fit, the protection board (built into the battery) would cut off the current at far too low a level to make the Solo useful. In theory, if you want to change a protected battery into an unproteted one, you could unwrap the battery, remove the protection board and then rewrap it without the protection board but even then you won't know the CDR of the battery. Just maybe the best betorder a good unprotected cell with a CDR of 15A minimum, pref 20A. At least you have a great Mod - I have three Geekvape Aegis Solo originals and just love 'em! Good luck!

Hello there…. I just bought a Vapegeek with the bigger battery. Though I have the smaller battery that fits on smaller vapes, however I have the adapter black case that holds a battery if they are smaller and the store told me that the case plus battery fits in the new Vapegeek model M100. Is this true… it doesn’t seem to fit!! I only bought one battery so I’m kinda screwed or am I???

Serious question? Of course, it depends on the mAh capacity of the cell, how high you set the Wattage, how long your tokes are and how often you toke. A typical 18650 as used in a vape might have a mAh rating of 2500, and a typical 21700 somewhere around 4000. So assuming if you set output power of the mod to 30W, our 18650 would theoretically hold enough charge for 15 minutes of continuous fire button press (if such a thing were possible). The above 21700 would theoretically hold sufficient charge for 24 minutes under the same conditions.

I wish i have more knowlege of batteries aside than knowing which way to place them in. I want a tinymight 2 so bad but have no clue how to charge the batteries. I bought an xstar vp2 and cant get it to work

According to this magicvaporizers.co.uk/tinymight-2 the TinyMight 2 takes a single 18650 cell and is charged via the usb-c port. so charging it'd be the same as charging your phone, or practically any other mod.

I sincerly appreciate your help and time! I owned one a year ago and it is by far the best vape I've owned but I couldn't figure it out and returned it, sadly. The perfect vape. So many toys within its own ecosystem of glass accessories etc. What im saying is I assumed that's how this would work. Just charges the unit while the battery is inside. I do notice how the original battery go down to purple color and after charging it (while the same battery inside) turns back to green. However I spoke with Larry from POTV and he said recharged and or replaceable batteries need to be charged in an external device, such as the one I own, Xstar. Even bought tons of extras. I felt it shouldn't be so difficult. Didn't work. User error I'm sure. I'm looking for an external battery charger that's simplistic but good?

Larry is incorrect, as I mentioned in the video it's very simple to build in a well-managed li-ion charging circuit into any device, whether it be a vape mod, a phone, or even an external charger, and costs mere pennies to implement, I'm sure dealers like to proliferate this profit-making myth, and those who make blanket claims that it's necessary to charge externally should educate themselves and stop parroting such twaddle.

I need to get some new 18650 batteries as mine are all getting tired now. I am not sure which suppliers can be trusted to sell genuine ones as there seem to be a huge amount of fakes around. I found the same thing with coils for the vapes on Ebay they didn't work or only last a day.

I know there's a concern of fakes, but I guess there's only so much we can do before taking the plunge and buying from someone. As I mentioned in the video, I tend to get a first idea on Trustpilot, and then perhaps send a quick mail to the vendor asking for advice and just see what sort of reply I get. But even with the best vendor and what I believe to be genuine cells, I've sometimes had old stock delivered which has been OKish but downright obvious it's not holding a full charge. Nothing more annoying that to buy a new cell to find it's actually worse than the old! But it's happened to me recently when I paid top dollar for a shiny new Molicel P28A. I'm not sure what the answer is mate other than do as much research as you can and then just go ahead and hope. Good luck!

What exactly are you trying to find? DMT? I've never bought any so cannot help. Extraction is the only method I'd recommend to get DMT. Comments like yours attract scammers to my channel mate, which is not good.

I've been using pen or stick type vape bartteries for years, but recently, less then a week ago, I purchased a mod. I am now trying to get my education on these type of batteries.
