Premier League clubs will vote to scrap VAR! Mark Goldbridge says clubs must listen to fans and not side with the PGMOL and the Premier League. Get your comments in below.
Why not change the terminology then. Scrapping VAR bc of this and the PGMOL is just further backing of some of the worst officiating ever. And that in the best League of the World as so many like to say
Exactly this. Because it doesn't serve the purpose of judging the situation step by step to provide a correct call, it's just there to figure out if the ref made a serious enough mistake given all the circumstances which is just nonsense.
There’s certain aspects of VAR that are inherently flawed. Telling the referee to look at any decision will result in that decision being given. I don’t think i’ve ever seen a decision be suggested by VAR and the referee has had a look and stuck by his original decision in the PL. I’ve only ever seen it in Scotland.
- Leave referees on the field. - Have football and tech experts in the VAR room, not the referees mates. - Keep the technology, let it evolve. - Avoid re-refereeing the game. - Keep the fans in the loop. - Sack Howard Webb.
But the truth is a lot of fouls are not black and white, and there is an element of subjectivity to a lot of fouls. This is why even days after the game people still can’t decide whether many instances should have been a foul or not. Also if someone is 1mm offside, who actually cares. If there’s a small shove in the back which the ref misses who cares. It’s sport not science, and forensically analysing decisions which could be given either way for 5 minutes every game takes all the fun out of it. Football was much better for the fans before VAR and that’s a fact
but then its the referee decision is final. game will flow mistakes happen. human error. VAR five minutes to make a decision and still can get it wrong.
It’s not VAR that should be scrapped, but the incompetence and inconsistency. VAR has been able to expose the inefficiencies and inconsistency of match officials. That is important and PGMOL has been seen as an outdated unable to cope with the new realtime input for decisions. That is why I say this is the a cause of PGMOL’s bid to control narrative that has been democratized for the last few seasons.
@@ofusowre7620 It seems so long ago true, but that doesn't change the fact it's not the technology but the corrupt officials that are running it that are causing that.
Football is truly dead. VAR actually finally exposed their determination to fix the match and they think getting rid of it makes it better. Clubs owners, players, manager, media, youtube "fans" channel, corrupt rules maker...get another job. Football is dead because you can only fool us once. Noticed even these fans channel are supporting the decision to get rid of VAR. They are all corrupt.
VAR is not the problem, it just needs to be automated for offsides, and the rules for penalties need to have consistency. People focus so much on the things VAR get wrong they are ignoring the amount of times offside goals and red cards have been correctly given. If you remove VAR and a ref gives a penalty that's undeserved with no option to change that decision what really changes? It's the officials not the system.
I totally agree. But then on the flip side, by removing a system which does undoubtedly bring accuracy but is misused by human decision, you may as well remove this false sense of accuracy. so yes VAR is good when used right. however because the EPL refs are so awful, you may as well scrap the VAR system which exposes their inconsistencies. in fact, it may even be better for refs to save face as they can now just blame “human error”.
@@spicyrice796 People are going to highlight refereeing mistakes with or without VAR, atleast with VAR you also have correct decisions being made that never would of been overturned without the system.
I don't understand why the people running VAR don't take a look at how rugby use their TMO system, there's very few mistakes and everything is so much clearer.
Im a massive rugby fan but there is alot more subjective decisions in football. Also in rugby there ia no arguing with officials and more natural pauses in play
@@Mr.WhiteCat_YTI don’t blame the referee for not having the correct view of the tackle on Gordon, but I do blame Var because they have watched it multiple times and all they needed to say was did you see any contact, if he says no then Var should step in and say we would like you too go to the screen and look again and make a decision off what we’ve seen. In my opinion keep Var for offside and Violent conduct because we know Violent Conduct does happen off the ball and if the referee is following the ball and something happens behind his back then he can’t be expected too give the right decision. Other than that football was never meant to be perfect but Skys Rob Dawson said they get 96% correct so taking last nights decision on Gordon does that go down as correct because Var never called the ref to review his decision 🤷♂️ if that’s the case then the percentage will always be high if no one challenges these idiots on sky as it’s just accepted what he says is true without having a conversation about what he is saying. Personally I back Wolves scrap Var it’s not good for the match going fan and don’t think European referees are any better because that’s not true only a handful of refs are good in Europe let’s get back to the ref deciding the game and let the game flow the way it’s supposed too.
There were way more mistakes before VAR but then they had an excuse. Now with VAR they have zero excuses for their incompetence and that's why it looks worse. VAR is not the problem, it just exposes their utter incompetence. Change the referees and their training not the technology that actually holds them accountable.
They didn't win by cheating or bribing refs. City are rats, and a discussing stain on the Premier League. I hate utd, and hope their next season is even more awful than this one. But unlike city, they don't cheat.@@kevinmorrow2788
Can we all agree that VAR is not a problem? The problem is always been PGMOL. How on earth no one even mentioned about PGMOL and they always getting away from it?
Are Literally The Only 2 People I Have Seen Actually Wanting VAR To Be Gone In All Of These Comments…….. If You Want VAR Gone???? You Really Are Some Kind Of Dumbass 💯😂👍🏻
Sadly in last nights game the ref didn't see the penalty so without VAR we still wouldn't have had the penalty. The fact we have, and the team didn't call it is criminal
That will make officiating even worse. There were many bad calls before,it’s just VAR show how bad referee has been for years.Scrapping it will not make refereeing better but make many claims about match fixing even more. The one should be blamed is the people behind it.
I was hoping that someone else was going to mention this. The amount of times that blatant errors are missed by the ref is crazy and corrected by VAR is crazy. Referees use it as a comfort blanket so much nowadays and will continue to do so.
If they remove Var, It will be the most hilarious thing in the whole season. The amount of mistakes that will appear right after var is removed will be a joy to watch
I agree. I think we get a version of automated offsides next year. Goal line technology and offsides are things that are factual not subjective. that should be the base to go forward
@peterparker_78 better training, clear guides lines that that we are all aware of and have been consulted through experienced players where the majority of fans and pundits agree. There's plenty of ways to improve it. It's not all or nothing. Edit: get rid of "clear and obvious" and the culture of VAR's protecting their mates who are reffing the game.
heres why removing var is bad idea because what will happen is the first the referee gets decision blatantly wrong next season everyone will demanding that var returns in the the immortal words of Paul Heyman that's not a prediction that's a spoiler.
Nope, you clearly don’t watch the championship. Everyone accepts there’s no VAR and the games are better for it. If the linesman makes a mistake, we just move on
@@xswiifttexactly. These gloryhunting prem fans don't watch the championship so have actually forgotten what it's like. The championship is so much better for it.
Mourinho said it best "I think the name is V.R because the pitch referee doesn't exist anymore all the decisions are taken by those in the office somewhere and that wasn't the plan . The plan was for it to only exist in obvious mistakes from the referee that everyone agrees on . Rare circumstances where the referee clearly misjudge and if that was how it works we would use it maybe once every 5 or 6 games not 7 times a game"
Former players from a different country . I said this should be the way it works regarding official. Should rotate one week we get German official the following we get Spanish. English refs should only ref in foreign climate.
@@edrahimoviche's not right though. No one knows how to use it properly. VAR doesn't really work well anywhere. The system is too complex and there will always be loads of errors. It's never going to work no matter who you put in charge of it. Turn it off.
VAR shouldnt be scrapped. In the Brighton vs Chelsea match, Chelsea were about to get a penalty but the VAR was actually used properly and was found that Veltman had touched the ball, therefore the penalty was overturned. Don't remove VAR, just sack the people that can't use it properly.
if VAR is removed then we will simply complain when the ref makes a bad decision. Either way, there will be complaints. I think the ideal situation would be removing the corruption of the PGMOL and the people controlling VAR. If you made offside VAR automated, and removed human decision from VAR, then it would get better
Football should be using technology [like most other sports] to eliminate teams getting robbed of points. But the way this has been integrated into the game has been atrocious. Why can't we have technology like Tennis or Cricket that shows the path of the ball in realtime on the screen for everyone to see, and it then it just reports what the status is, offside, goal, no goal. Surely this must be possible. I get that penalty decisions are a bit more ambigious and maybe needs to be looked at separately, but surely they can develop something that eliminates the need for 3 blokes in a room discussing it at length, then still giving the wrong decision. Its madness.
Var isnt the problem . Its the interpretation. Leave it to the REF. What should happen . The foul should have been called and the REF then goes to look at the video evidence. No decision should be made by VAR. This is why we have a REF, VAR should only be used if there is a goal or violent play. Everything else is down to the REF on the pitch. Thankfully 95% of fans never watch these streams . Mark Who LOL
That makes it worse. Having a third party can eliminate bias from the ref's decision. It still also doesn't address the frequent and extensive VAR interruptions, confusion in the stadium, passion being lost from goal celebrations and all of the other drawbacks stated by Wolves that aren't directly related to the processing of the decision
They don’t need to get rid of it they just need to sort the rules out properly it shouldn’t take 5 minutes for a decision if it does then it’s not a clear and obvious decision in the first place
@Toosimoo but Sky have asked other PL teams what they think of Wolves proposal and they are not in favour of it , but wolves proposal will be brought up St the next Pl team meeting and there will be a vote on it , but it will not pass , this is a storm in a tea cup thing
The problem is they are working off the wrong principle to start with, "we only send the referee to the monitor to review clear and obvious errors, we don't want to be re-refereeing the games". Wrong wrong wrong. One senior match official reviews the video footage and gives his decision to the pitch referee to implement. No fuss, no long discussions and delays, the official with the access to the most information makes the decision and it is quickly implemented. End of. The bunch of officials discussing and dissecting it all, should be background stuff, like a quality control department reviewing the performance of the VAR official.
Couldnt agree more… they are ruining the beautiful game…even players are afraid to celebrate after scoring thinking god knows maybe var will rule it out
Imagine wanting to go back to a bunch of INEPT and USELESS officials making season-defining decisions in a split-second when the fans at home can see via the replays they're wrong. Over and over and over and over again. Then imagine refusing to use technology to enforce the correct decisions because the UNDERLYING PROBLEM (i.e. PGMOL) are still running things. This is literally the definition of cutting off your nose to spite your face.
They’ll realize how often they get it right with VAR when it’s taken away. On-field referees will have gotten worse as they’re used to using it as a comfort blanket
The decision that has to be made is: Do you want a more fluid game or do you want more correct big decisions? Scrap VAR and you'll have a more fluid game, but you'll also have more incorrect decisions that fans will be crying about just as hard as they are now. Keep it, and there's at least a chance that some incorrect decisions are avoided. Which do you think is a greater net positive?
There is no problem with the technology. There is problem with the interpretation of the laws and the people using it. If you shoot somebody, you won't be blaming the gun, you will be blaming the shooter right?
VAR is not the problem. It’s the people using it. Stop using working refs, get people specifically trained to run it and that solves 75% of the problem. When the Diaz goal in the spurs Liverpool game happened, it was the VAR tech who noticed what had happened. It wasn’t the 2 referee plods sitting there drinking tea. Get the VAR techs to do the job and they’d do a much better job then a bunch of refs who are part of the PGMOL boys club.
After the sh*tshow i watched yesterday, they either have to change the PPL using var or just remove it....all pressure will be on the on field refree which will force him to make better decisions if var is gone
No matter what, VAR is TERRIBLE for the enjoyment of the game - no matter how many mistakes they correct. Let's take this opportunity to get rid off this abomination to the sport!
@@ronel7836 It doesn't matter how terrible the referees are going to be, refereean misstakes are a part of the game. In fact they can add flavor and spark to otherwise lifeless games making it a much bettet viewer experience.
People seem to forget why VAR was introduced. We have hundreds of cameras and angles in the stadiums and refs were missing obvious mistakes. What is the point in having the technology and not using it?
While VAR is a problem, the inconsistent officiating is the REAL problem, and fixing or scrapping VAR won't fix the issue. I'm indifferent. So many handballs weren't called this season even after VAR. I don't understand this.
