not sure that nomadland is universally liked well enough to surpass the 50%+1 vote. I could see it being high up and down low on ballots.

A24 had too many films that year. Uncut Gems, The Lighthouse, Waves, The Farewell etc. they fucked up their Oscar campaign

uncut gems wasnt that good, you're just buying adam sandler's marketing bullshit. it was an average film with a reasonable performance by sandler. nothing more.

Okay, but can you tell me what should the judges take in considerarion for giving the poins? In other words, what are the criterium that are taken in consideration??

Several huge factors: 1) big budgets and box office used to help them win but the last film in this category and won? 2003 LOTR. Oscar since then bends over backwards to award to small films 2) likeability: Voters will help popular or "nice guys" and punish non-PC people 3) makeup awards aka Nicole Kidman should have won for MR but instead won the next yr for Hrs. 4) conversely if u won in 21, unlikely to win in 22 5) Obviously Oscar hates sci-fi, fantasy and comedies

@@streafe These are rules set in order to get nominated. So yes. If you want to win any award, you need a certain amount of diversity. Which is insane in my opinion.

@@laserloui2008 The requirements are pretty easy to meet though, meaning most films qualify without actively trying to do so.

@@callumdoherty7204 its still a burden to artistic freedom. Certain movies played in certain times, in certain areas, have certain demographics. If you want to make an all straight white man WW1 movie, whats wrong with that? Maybe its the best movie ever but it will surely not get nominated. Or look at The Great Escape (WW2) for example.
