I forgot that everywhere other than America uses commas instead of decimals so I thought these people were just going Mach 3 down this hill and I was impressed
I think the angle of the slope is the most deciding factor. Fastest skiier will the the one who is almost freefalling where the slope is so steep that you barely touch the snow. Like 89 degrees. Also 12 year old wont be faster, because his body weight ist too low compared to the drag. You will get faster by adding lead weights to your legs.

@@bicboi1945 and where do you get YOUR numbers? There's no such thing as "maximum terminal speed" without specifying a whole bunch of restraining conditions. Such speed is a function of initial velocity at a specific altitude, the final altitude where the measurement is taken, which determines the air pressure along with the air temperature, the type of body suit, determining air friction, body position determining the drag, etc. etc.
@@bicboi1945 That rate is for the average skydiver in the lay-flat position. You can increase your terminal speed by changing constraints such as body position. It's not uncommon to free fall faster than 300 km/hour, or for some people break the sound barrier.
@@trezov , да, помнится скользящие ботинки котировались выше, чем те у которых подошвы не скользят по снегу. На горке возле школы была раскатаная ледяная дорожка - на ногах катались. Сейчас мимо хожу - нет теперь такой ледянки на этой горке, не катаются нынешние школьники.
50 to 60mph on skis is insanely fast for me. You know if you come off it's really going to hurt. I don't know where these guys get the compulsion to do this.
Yeah my typical top speed on skis is also 50 to 60mph (80 to 90+ kmh) and that's already quite dodgy, the wind is quite strong and if you're on a fresh groomer your skis feel like wet soap bars in a tub hahaha I could maybe imagine handling 100 to 120kmh in the best possible conditions, but 250 is just out of this world !!!

jcash uh you learn to ski? This is the pinnacle of intensity for the sport though. If you didn’t start skiing when you were like 3 years old you already don’t have a chance to do this anymore. It takes a lot of talent and a lifetime of honing your skiing skills to be this good. *how does one get into f1 racing* _first step is to learn to drive_
@@FreehandElm Uhh wtf? That is actually super easy to do. Just hold balance in that suit and you WILL reach those speeds! If you fall you get injured but otherwise this ain't even a sport...
I was just thinking the same thing. I went to Google and was puzzled at the conversion. Then I remembered that some places around the world have different decimal signs. France uses the comma ( , ) as their decimal ( . ).
one time I accidentally went down a black diamond level slope without knowing how to properly bank, and I ended up going straight down like this - I really almost died that day

@@Das.Kleine.Krokodil живы пока к ним ещё подбежали, и они инстинктивно в предсмертных конвульсиях подёргиваются ) я хз как можно выжить без какой либо защиты на скорости 240-250км/час, тут на машине при 130-140 не все выживают даже тупо в кювет слетев, и то там куча защиты и ты ещё в коконе своего рода находишься, а тут ты сразу получаешь воздействие на тело без каких либо смягчающих факторов, я вижу там снег накатан не хуже асфальта на гоночном треке, и удар об этот снег вряд ли смягчит падение!

I dont get why people applaud that speed. it's the maximum speed that can be achieved by any object falling because of gravitational acceleration, given enough space to fall. instead people should applaud the materials used for those suits, that they cut air friction so very much
These records are likely to be beaten whether it's improvement of technique or new technologies and equipment. skis are faster on edge. but then again I'm a snowboarder I enjoy speed but slowing it down and enjoying the carve is half the fun. But still super impressed with anyone who is willing to push the boundaries.
this video always pops up on recommended and every time i think it's the scene from dumb and dumber were harry shows up in the downhill racing suit for a casual day on the slopes with Mary Samsonite.
Crash был на показательных выступлениях, когда этот вид спорта пытались в олимпийские игры включить. Лет 25 назад. Лыжник, спускаясь по трассе со скоростью 220 км/ч въехал в трактор, который случайно выкатился на трассу. После этого данный вид и не включили в игры.
