The one and only Chucky speaks with Tania Sachdev after the final round of GibChess. In this animated interview the fantastic Ukrainian GM gives us a glimpse of his beautiful mind whilst analysing his game.
Oh f!! The person who taught me how to do limits, integrate and laplace also plays chess. What a coincidence. Btw I used to watch yours videos years ago.
There should be a quadruple round robin tournament called "Famous F#cking Legends". In the first installation I would like to see Ivanchuk, Kamsky, Shirov and Gelfand.
What a Legend! Turns a quick interview into a 40 min Master class. When I asked him for a picture between rounds at Grand Chess Tour he accepted happily, where most other players couldn't be bothered. Genius Gentleman.
That's caffeé u ignorant! In Spain and in Portugal we take coffe in small cups called "chavena". And we, in Portugal have incomparable better coffe that in Spain!
This guy is so wild; even Kasparow used to be on edge whenever he had to play him. The only dude who could challenge Kasparow on his own turf: complex dynamic positions.
Vassily is a legend ! , my favourite chess player, im just happy to see him enjoy life and have a good time playing, everyone seems to be happy around him even we when we watch him :)
"I didn't play very well. Viktor Korchnoi used to say don't think about the result..Go to the shop and buy something pleasant for yourself and your mood will improve... but it's a pity for me that the tournament is finish.. when I want to continue " 😂
@@andrejatodorovic4094 stockfish says it's the best move and black is winning. Second best (and the one that made Ivanchuk rule out Nxd5) was Rx5 which stockfish says is a dead draw.
@@andrejatodorovic4094 you misunderstand Na3+ was the move black would play in response to taking the pawn. He didn't see it but he didn't take the pawn because of other reasons that he thought he didn't have any advantage in. Na3+ was the best response for black he probably wouldn't have calculated deep into the other lines if he saw that move.
@@rgpmtori Possibly, I don't know, I commented long ago and I don't remember the position I commented on and I really cannot be bothered to watch the whole video again, so I will just admit that there's a possibility (tiny) that you are right and I was wrong, there, I said it.
@@Sarah-no7lv And how do you know it's an espresso? Because it's in an espresso cup? It's actually a cortado since they're in Gibraltar. Learn some culture swine.
After previous interviev where Ivanchuk commented the entire game from his head, including several complicated positions that did not happened in the game, they decided to let him do it on the board so watchers will be able to see it in the same way =)
I actually think the shorter interview with Chucky was better for the reasons you just mentioned in your comment. In this interview he always has his back to the camera, so we can’t see his many wonderful facial expressions. Ivanchuk was turned around like that because he was using the board. Despite Tania’s best efforts, however, he blocked it frequently. Tania, herself, was a distraction because she kept looking off-camera for direction while at the same time trying to reposition Chucky and the camera. Don’t get me wrong, I think Tania is great at everything she does. In the other interview all we saw of her was her arm holding the mike (alternating left and right arms actually). She didn’t need to say much in each interview to get Chucky started. And when he was going he was awesome!
I thought she was a bit pushy (no pun intended). Chucky knew what he was doing and wasn't really blocking. It's funny how worried she looks about getting him out of the way. I am not criticizing her.
Around 17:30, you see the difference between a strong normal player like Tania and a GM. When Ivanchuk mentions the endgame possibilities, she says "and you're winning"; he responds "maybe not winning, but better." GM Rowson mentioned this, that super GMs are typically reluctant to venture definitive assessments.
I think that’s just a first person POV tbh. When I show my games to my friends and they go, “Oh yeah, thats winning”, I’m like , “Uh, maybe not but that’s just very comfortable for me to play” and vice versa
I saw a previous interview with Anatoly Karpov, but since she was such a professional presenter, I assumed she was just reading questions of a sheet and didn't really know anything about chess, but it's great to see I was totally wrong! Excellent interview! I look forward to more of these :)
In post Soviet countries, we have a joke that to spot a soviet intelligence spy abroad was very easy, he never picked up a spoon from tea/coffee while drinking. To explain, the vast expanse of the USSR had it long overnight train commuters, and they served tea/coffee in а glass placed in metal holder to prevent heat burn. At this, small tables were with white tablecloth. And as train conductors didn't give plate along with glass in metal holder tea, there was no place to put spoon so that not to stain tablecloth. That's why, post Soviet people find it OK) to drink with a teaspoon in a cup. Originally, I was born near Lviv city, where Vasiliy resides. It's nice to see him along lots of pleasant comments. Respect
Lovely Interview by Tanya, a real beauty with brains. Chucky the erratic genious, starting looks a bit like John McEnroe, but much more well behaved one 😁
Chess players love Chucky, they would all love to spend this much time with him analysing a game, bravo to Tania, you can tell she is really enjoying this time with Chucky.
13:55 Ivanchuk - "Nxd5 looks convincing. Again, sorry.. I didnt see the Nh3 tactic." Tania can't stop laughing. He has made her day 😜😁 Vassily is one of the best chess personalities. Always honest and no filters at all. 💯
@@andreaanesa5954 Although this is all whimsy, Ivanchuck was one of the best players in the world for 20 years and often cited as the strongest player never to become world champion. Few may be in Tal's league, but I'd count Chucky in it.
